who said ap cannot claim warranty?  hmm.gif
hahaha
it js u hv to check certain the ap warranty type, certain cover most/all part for 1 year or more but certain only cover the transceiver for 1 year, others (lcd, battery, charger n etc) might js 1-3months only. lucky here, certain seller do provide good ap warranty type.
*
I never bought AP before. Is AP set good?
I was thinking to get an AP set for my wife. Almost confirm le, but then my satisfaction was crushed.
I received a PM on 10pm yesterday and price was XXYY, suddenly this morning PM again saying price increase now XXZZ.
You know what, when I checked the seller thread, price reduced to XXFF.

RM80 movement in price. One moment saying price increase while reducing it another moment. All in less than 24hrs. I cannot believe that.
Now thinking if I should go original since Im really fedup kao kao.

BTW, can N85 user feedback a bit?
Is the front keypad ok? I tried N96 and it was horrible. Not what I would expect as the dummy keys are way better than the phone itself.

Nvm, it's settled now... I've take it as misunderstanding on my part but Im sure of what I read and what they have posted. Maybe some of them should make it loud and clear just like some other did and by listing out all different version of phone they are selling and their warranty period instead of just posting some attractive ads about prolonged warranty and one standard pricing but in the end, the extra warranty comes with additional charges. Just make buyer confused of the pricing difference.

Back to the topic,

Any user can give me any feedback regarding the whole phone? Seem like some original sellers are giving good pricing on it. I think I will waste another couple hundred to get Zitron/Avaxx set since its for my wife.

Actually I asked about the AP vs Original is to know whether AP set they will charge anything or not if major operation like LCD malfunction or slider damaged. Also want to know whether they used original parts or what. Scare after buying if got problem, and worse if dealer give lcly face, really dulan when buying expensive phone.

AP & Zitron/Avaxx phones are all made by Nokia factories. If I am you, I will definitely choose AP bcos

1) price much much lower; why must I pay few hundred RM more for the exact same fone?
2) warranty issues can be settled easily if u choose to buy in shops and not stalls/online types.
3) for new fones like n85, it is impossible to find imitation or refurbished fones.
4) ur relationship wt dealers largely depends on how u interact wt them. dun xpect all the great service, all the time.

Ok... thanks for your insight.
I couldnt find any reason not to agree with your points.

I dont really know if that itself is a problem. Its just normal to have ghost image if you took picture of moving objects. That is down to the shutter timing and if its slow, you are bound to have that.

If Im not mistaken, nowadays high end Nokia phone has ISO setting. Play with the ISO setting to reduce the noise.

Dont expect these to perform as a digital camera. After all, they serve their purpose.

Just got my hands onto a N85 just now.
LOL... quite impressed but I think it will suit gal better as the size is small.

1. Keys - the feedback is good but since the size is small, keys that are located to the edge feel hard to press down for me. My wife smaller fingers has no problem. The best feature has to be the keylock/unlock button at the side. Nokia has learn something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. UI - I think compared to my last N70, its much faster. I used my friend's N73ME before and I think its much fluid with animation as well.

3. Camera - Took a couple pictures. Im impressed with the night shot that I did in my car after getting the phone just now. Pretty good for a phone camera. As for the noise, I think Nokia set the ISO pretty high. Its very noticeable when taking shot of white background/stuffs (ie. my Acer Gemstone keyboard). I think Nokia firmware can fix this problem if many user complaint about it.

Im doing more test on the camera.

As you can see from the pictures, having high ISO add too much noise to the picture. However since the ISO setting is limited, there is not much choice to choose from but I would say these pictures are pretty good. If you compare the pic taken using Auto mode vs my noflash-highiso, the noise is similar, just that its brighter making the noise more noticeable. The filesize also doubled when using high iso which is crazy because it does nothing but adding a lot of noise to the picture. Camera phone is just for taking fun pic and was never meant to replace digicam by any mean.

I have say the slider is pretty good compared to 6500s. N96 slider probably more tight than N85 but that doesn't mean it's poor. The package is same with 8gb card and the ngage stuff. I'm typing this using this phone. Using wireless. It's kinda hard to use for me due to the size of the keys. Secondly it's because i have long fingernail to use with my M600. One bad thing about the accelerometer is the dimming of the keypad when rotate to side.

Only one major problem now is that S60 FP2 hasnt been cracked up yet. So you wont be able to install anything unless you self-sign with some help. It sucks when the security is so tight.

What is the most problematic firmware for n85..? Im really looking into upgrading into the n85 so far i kinda like my n78 interms power useage..i really think the new FP2 has improve lots on power consumption n useage. Also i beliew the single CPU ARM11 really is fast..to bad it doesnt do video out. nevertheless 6220 clasic use the same processor but has video out which puzzles me..
*
N78 no video out? N85 got wor.
But really, will you use it?

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Nov 15 2008, 07:46 AM)
N85 (8GB) - RM1595 (AP) , RM2469 (ORI)

Just look at the price difference.  shakehead.gif

It seems like Andybravo got some way to get cheap Zitron set. Less than RM2k but without 8GB it seem.

Added on November 15, 2008, 10:46 amIn my honest opinion, its strange that the price drop so fast. Maybe Nokia predicting market condition will worsen thus reducing the price to earn as much while they still can. For me, I really have to give my wife her present, so I buy early but with some premium lor. At least special cos not much people using it.

For personal use, I think waiting game is correct. Firstly, price dropping to around 1.5k, and secondly for now, no one has cracked FP2 therefore there is no way to install the application and games. If you are switching from FP1, better rethink.

your wife's n85, got any problem so far??

I dont know why suddenly so many questions were asked about N85 reliability. What I can say is never hang or whatsoever. Since my wife seldom make calls, only using it to listen to music most of the time. Battery last 4days for her usage. Quite impressive.

I dont think the navi wheel is rubbish. Instead I like it more than using the dpad. Just turn off the BREATHING option when turning on naviwheel. It makes it go through each icon slowly in case you are not familiar with it. With navi wheel, I dont have to vouch for certain holding position while the phone is not slide open in order to browse through the menu. Quite disappointed is the navi wheel works for certain menu while some are disabled. If they could enable it for all of the menu, I would buy another one for myself to use.

The speaker of the N85 is not crap speaker. LOUD doesnt mean quality. N85 speaker is stereo mode. Among the best I have heard. The stock headphone is a bit of a disappointment bacause the lack of bass. However, once I plug in my Mylar XB, totally rocks... I can sell my ipod nano liao. I can say with 100%, beats Ipod SQ.
