I tried the Nokia N85 and I like the improved interface. However the transition made it a little slow and stuttering. Hope new software updates will improve in this area. I like OLED screen although it is a little on the warmer side in terms of color temperature.

QUOTE(jin1119 @ Dec 7 2008, 05:38 PM) may i knw wad NSS stand for?i only knw that NSU stand for nokia software update.thanks NSS is Nemesis Service Suite meant to read and write to the EROM of a Nokia phone product. Reason we use NSS is to alter the product code to correspond to the region desired. Usually it is use to debrand or at some point unlock a Nokia phone. It is recommended to be used with NSU because once the product code is change, when updating with NSU... it will use the product code to send in the correct phone software meant for it.

QUOTE(vunshiung @ Dec 7 2008, 10:50 PM) so, where can i get this nss? i searched in msn but found nothing. How the check the product code? You will see the product at the back of the phone when you remove the battery. It is labeled in the product stickers where the SIRIM certification stickers are applied. For NSS, try searching with Google. Type NSS or Nemesis Software Suite. When you eventually go to the site, there will be instructions telling you how to change a Nokia product code. Just follow the instructions.

QUOTE(ihawk98 @ Dec 8 2008, 08:57 AM) this is too much hassle. i'm heading to Nokia Service Center to do the upgrade. Well the NSS and troublesome procedures are only for AP phones since they are programmed with a different product code being originated from other regions. They won't be having local content and language. Thats why they need to change the produce code with NSS to a local one in order to get the proper language. If you're using an original Nokia phone, you can head straight to the update via Nokia Software Update.

QUOTE(Alexdino @ Dec 8 2008, 11:04 AM) if you are using AVAXX/ZITRON you are entitle to use the service form the Nokia service center, why waste it, go and have them upgrade for you. but make sure your phone is FULLY charge. Think they will charge it up for you too. Last time I sent my Nokia phone in, they told me to come back in 2 hours time. The firmware update thing takes less than 1 hour. Guess the extra time required is for phone preparation and also to give them more time to handle more than one phones at the same time.

QUOTE(ihawk98 @ Dec 8 2008, 04:13 PM) ok, thanks for the tip about ori phones. i will try using NSU directly and see if it all works well. Added on December 8, 2008, 9:11 pmoh, upgraded using NSU just now...very smooth process and quite easy to use i have to say. It is very convenient to use. Now you can update your Nokia phone software with ease. No need to visit service center.

QUOTE(K1d0 @ Jan 5 2009, 01:31 PM) Erm,for this n85 besides the OLED lifespan, got any other more problem ah? Still wondering which to get now, 5800 or n85, both also i like @@ Don't worry about the OLED lifespan, it'll probably last you throughout its life-cycle (2years++) after which you probably have bought a new replacement anyway.

QUOTE(Devil_J @ Jan 8 2009, 09:18 PM) the price of 5800 is certainly attractive.with all the latest functions included. but too bad it's onli equp wif a 3.2 M camera Get the N85 is you prioritize on camera and video quality. The rest of the features are similar and on par. If you like big touchable screen, then Nokia 5800 is a good start.

QUOTE(ivanlmh @ Jan 9 2009, 05:40 AM) Buy 5800 lar den...a very cheap price for a touch screen gps device. But i'm not sure if garmin would work..you'll have to survey Nope, it doesn't work yet. But high chance Garmin will release a compatible version since N97 is coming out soon. Maybe not now because there are no reasons to support just one phone, definitely when N97 is released. Anyway the 5800's screen is also poor in terms of sunlight legibility, just the same as N85's OLED screen. Actually 5800's screen is pretty good and the contrast is high enough. I would say N85 only small tad better than it. Reason is because N85's screen can be overly WARM and not natural.
