hi, psp newcomer here.
one question though, is it for metal gear solid portable ops, the menu buttons layout is different from other games? like the 'X' is 'go back' instead of 'O' like in other games? thanks. any good games to intro to me? i already have patapon both grand theft autos tekken fifa 08 smackdown vs raw 08 mgs portable ops gods of war |

hi guys, need some help for phat psp firmware update
my sis currently using 3.52 m33(forgot which release), she want to upgrade to 3.90 m33 so can i just download the 3.90 m33 and the original 3.90 and just run it? or i need to go thru some process? besides that, i notice some save game will be affected, so how do i protect those save games? |

save game affect? it won't be affected. yes, u can update straight from 3.52m33 if i can recall
if u scare it's corrupted, jz back up the save folder. |

the term fully upgrade means upgrade it step by step.. 3.03, 3.4,3.5, 3.7, 3.8 n 3.9...by doing this,all the bugs are fixed... do i have to explain more???

juvenile86: if u are using 3.90 m33-2, some game cant be played using m33 driver (example harvestmoon inncent life).. so change it.. open vsh menu> umd iso mode change to sony NP9660... if u are using 3.90 m33-3... there are certain types of fonts deleted... example Korean.. giv respond after trying this |

SLIM xde 1.5 kernal.. sbb tu DA ada wat time machine.. untk membolehkan slim ada 1.5 kernal... tapi DA sendiri masih dalam research time machine tu.

Hi there! I'm a newbie to PSP. Just got mine for RM760 with accessories yesterday. I got the White PSP Slim & Lite. Been playing multiplayer games via Ad-Hoc Wi-fi with my officemates. Damn addictive.

get sandisk m2 8gb, no lagging issue, i find it its even faster than my pirated 4gb, price wise its RM180 from lowyat plaza

Then go into ur psp 'resource' folder(in step 6) and paste it in the folder[overight the files(yes to all)], sames goes to the 'module' files 8)after all that steps hold ur psp on ur hand, select Back then Exit,and ''pray'' then enjoy ur new theme. to view hidden folders My computer>control panel>folder option then go to View tab, look at the list and select ''show hidden files and folder'' cilck apply and ok to recover ur psp if the theme dont work out, go to step 6 ^ then copy the files that u backup and save on ur desktop then just copy and paste the files in the respective folders, BY ALL MEANS DO NOT DELETE THE FILES IN UR PSP SYSTEM EVEN U HAVE A BACKUP IT WILL MAKE UR PSP SEMI BRICKED LIKE MINE This post has been edited by kelvio: Jun 10 2008, 02:03 PM |

I was thinking about to get myself a psp. But i heard a lot of words from my fren and i cannot decide between psp slim and the normal one. Some of my frens said get normal one as slim one sometimes will lag(i dunno) and slim one battery is way too easy to flat. Can anyone give me an idea which to buy?

well psp slim is better has it has more ram built into it thus thats y it can support skype. battery life of both psp and psp slim is almost the same..I'll suggest the psp slim

The Slim is running under 1200 mAh while the Fat version uses the 1800 mAh battery.. And in my comparison between the slim and fat, the fat last about an hour or so longer than the PSP slim I had.. The slim does not have the infra-red sensor anymore but as Lacus has said it is replaced by the 64mb ram and Skype functionality.. There are pros and cons in choosing either one so you have to pick the one you're better off with..

need some help here, i've converted an avi video into mp4, and i put the video into MP_ROOT\100MNV01\, but my psp can't detect the video file

use xvid4psp convert files to pmp and pmplayer advance to watch pmp files,
watch them at full resolution 480 which is blocked with the default player and watch them at 66mhz to save ur juice~ |

Hey guys,
I have an old psp firmware 3.40 OE-A and i want to upgrade to 3.90m33. Ive downloaded the 3.90m33 firmware and it requires a previous version. I kept downloading the previous version and it requires the same until it requires 1.50 ori firmware. What should i do? |

@reedsect13, it depends. If at recovery menu the update setting is set to dark alex's update site..then it should update to 3.90m33-3.
@Benjin, I might wanna do a bulk sales if i can get some buyers for the memory stick thingie..I just got mine not long ago but different brand. |

ouch.. i think i just brick my psp.. wont boot up anymore.. even into the recovery menu.. uwaaaa... i try to put themes in flash0.. replace the module and the resource folder with the one i download.. someone help meee~~~!!

ya lor.. from penang.. i got my fren who know bout this unbrick.. but he bz working.. so i want to try unbrick my self.. and the solution that i read is use the pandora.. aiyooo..
when i start the psp with the R trigger.. seem like it reading my MS.. is there posible if i just put something in my MS to make the psp boot in to the recovery menu? |

erm.. nuthin.. try that already.. do pandora magic stick need the battery to work?
* err.. i think i forgot to put the wallpaper for the themes.. i only copy the vsh folder (got module and resource folder inside) the the flash0... now i notice that there is another folder call wallpaper with bunch of files.. where should i place them eh? in my MS? maybe that's why my psp wont show anything.. Hi, I'm another newbie with psp here. First of all, I got my psp from a friend, who is now out of reach, so I'll just drop down evething I know about this PSP of mine.
System Software / Firmare = 303OEC R+ (she got it from China) Model Number = PSP 1006 Homebrewed before? = I'm not sure but it does have the Recovery funtion which you hold R and switch it on, so my guess is yes? Ok. Today, I just got myself a game, FF 7 Crisis Core english version. Lets just say that I somehow get it "not that legally" if you get what I mean, especially those torrents users. I start the game, and it gives me this : "The game cannot be started" along with the error code of "80020148" After hours of googling here and there, I'm feeling a bit unsafe to whether or not to upgrade my psp with the firmware stated at page 1 of PSP for Beginner topic. And I also feel that the reason of the error above is because I need to upgrade the firmware to a more recent one. Do be reminded that this is a China version of psp. I googled the firmware and all I got is all chinese website which I cant read. Here's is what I wanna ask : Is it ok for me to upgrade my current firmware to the firmware stated in PSP for Beginner Post or do I have to search for the China version which I absolutely have no idea of. it should b ok to update to another version. But the version she's using most likely cannot be update but must be pandora..it seems to be using different type of custom firmware...

works for both psp fat and slim.Well, the firmware u using i think is some chinese made firmware..should be..so i think need to pandora to turn it into m33 version. btw u need both pandora battery and magic stick..No hardmod being done on the battery so it safe

erm, well so far pandora battery only works for original psp battery..those pandora battery can be used for pandora and later on can be converted back to normal. Btw where r u from,EternalC?

anyway i got a question, me n my friend always have lagging issue when playing multiplayer games over wifi, such as tekken, djmax we've tried to put fix ch but it doesn't help also, any idea how to fix or what causes that? |

not installing the 4.01 yet.. so many to do if i upgrade i think.. all the prx need to be convert as what i read.. lazy to do it.. heheh.. erm.. dunno bout the multiplayer games.. i dont have fren to play with. but suppose to me like that is the internet line problem maybe loh..

wat prx? so far...everything works perfectly (erm those prx i think for ppl modding the themes and etc
..kudos we have ppl to make themes >_<) Hmm, lagging eh? Previously in 1 of the PSP gathering we actually had 8 players on a game..sometimes got slight lagging but most of the time it's smooooth..maybe it's due to the "game" |

think so..although some plugin is using prx too... o_O...usually plugins only..but mostly the creator makes the new 1 very fast

erm using USB of coz is slow 1, so it's normal
...@EternalC, well u can actually enable USB charging mode so when usb is plug in, it actually charges the psp too |

CFT=CXMB. Safer and does not mess up with the flash0 (flash0, 1 wrong move..ur psp is semi bricked

I have a 8GB Sandisk M2. It takes 45 seconds to transfer a file which is 100MB in size, equals to 4.5MB/s. It doesn't seem fast at all, especially when compared to my 1GB Kingston USB thumb drive.

hehe.. i just read that cxmb v3.2.1 just release with bug fix and support 4.01 m33. one thing i like is the random theme function. go get it at psp-hack

I updated my firmware to OFW4.01, then found out I can't update CFW4.01M33/M33-2
Now I can't go back to CFW3.90 M33. How to go about this to get a CFW, at least back to CFW3.90 M33? Please help. Thank you. |

well if cannot, it means the vsh menu is not enable in recovery menu. try press L and on the psp and the same time. got to advance, enable vsh menu.

Overheat maybe. Because a few days ago fell asleep with my PSP connected to the AC adapter and at the same time the wifi is active remote-playing with PS3. And after I woke up 4-5 hours later the PSP was friggin hot
. Moreover the PSP has a silicon case, further preventing efficient heat dispersion.. Luckily it is still alive |

I dont know about that but if that the case, i "might" burn my PSP while playing God of War or SF: Logan Shadow coz that games automatically overlock the PSP to 333mhz. Really...I dont know bout that......

I tried playing with all clock speeds and various games..I have overclock mine to 333mhz ever since i bought it..i used it for 3 months already...so far no problems but i observed that it really does drain the battery and the "ahem" games have a better performance reduce lag..

I need some feedback and opinion here on the situation that I'm facing. Initially thought of opening a new thread, but I think it is much appropriate to post it here Last week I just bought a new PSP Bronze Matte from SonyStyle HK. This is my very first unit of PSP for myself. I was told that there was 7-days one to one exchange warranty if the unit is faulty and provided one year of warranty by Sony. I barely just check the unit at the centre since provided 7-days one to one exchange warranty and I'm tired of walking whole day checking the prices of PSP package in HK. Later when I reached home, I found that there was 5 white pixels on the screen of the PSP. I went back to the SonyStyle HK store the next day and asked for a change. They said actually white or dead pixels warranty is not covered in Sony's warranty policy since current technology doesn't 100% ensure that a LCD production will be 100% free or dead or white pixel. It may also occur after a certain duration of usage. However, they allow me to "open" another unit at the store and then pick between my unit or the newly opened unit. If the new unit contain dead or white pixel as well, then I need to choose between both only. The centre is very bright with the lights and I hardly can properly check for dead or white pixel. After certain angles doesn't visibly show me anything, I picked the new unit and went home. When reached home, I switched to dim lights (house's lighting) and startup the PSP. Straight away I found a white pixel on the screen. Arghhh... I sent an email to SonyStyle HK regarding my dilemma and again they allow me to check two new units at the centre and pick one unit among all three (including mine) and that would be final. So all PSP owners, what is your advise and opinion regarding this situation. Should I go there again to try exchange for another unit or just stay with my current unit and accept the white pixel? It is located in the middle top left and not very visible in bright area. However, during black screen, black background, etc. in dim light area, the tiny pixel will be visible. You will always be noticing that part especially when you already certain that there is a white pixel there What I'm afraid is that if I take my bet and change for another unit, being that centre is so brightly lighted up. I might have a hard time to properly check for a dead or white pixel. Giving such option by Sony Style HK, do you think I should try? P/S: The flagship store is located at Causeway Bay and from my current location to Causeway Bay is very easy |

well, option can be seen at vsh menu also (pressing select on xmb menu)..Hmm, well u bought the psp at sonystyle and of coz u want something that is prefect right?..Another way is to open paint, color the whole screen with selected colors :/..Like black, white, red, green and save it as jpeg.

Just use the themes. They have different colours so you just switch between them. Should be able to spot any dead pixels with that.
No such adaptor? hmmmm how about SD to CF? i know shashinki.com sells them but i'm looking for other alternatives. |

Well if it was me I won't accept it.
If the dead pixels happen after a long time of usage i think it is ok but not the moment i pay them. You don't go in a shop and buy a half eaten nasi lemak rite?? hahahaha Alternatively you can question them that why none of the units in that branch is ok? Don't tell me they have 0% good units. If so ask them to get it from another branch since it is sony style they should be able to(even if not they should be able to reject defects to the distributor). how come psp slim got dead pixel i read in a review that psp slim is using the new OLED screen rather than the lcd screen which will eliminate such problem???

..or not the psp slim will cost even more :/ maybe it's due to manufacturing defect?I got my psp slim when it was release and notice some owner (overseas, maybe some here too) has problem with cracked R or L button =/ |

OE eh..I think it's possible to update it slowly...from 3.10 to 3.51 then 3.71,3.80,3.90 then only 4.01

It happens on all LCD including LCD monitor, laptops, touch screen, etc. I went to another SonyStyle centre and asked, the reason given is the same. BTW, I bought at their flagship store which is the largest in Hong Kong and current stock for Bronze Matte really low. |

erm guys.. i was playing locoroco till world 3 last stage.. b4 i get 2 play dat last stage, it was hanged while its loading dat time.. my psp juz off like dat after hang for 4 to 6 seconds.. wats da problem?

just connect it to ur pc that have AV installed.. it will detect and do what it suppose to do because pc will detect psp as another drive.

if want to change the L or R button, then I would say have to open the whole console aight? hence this will avoid the warranty then - pls confirm and correct me if im wrong....

just buy my PSP yesterday.........
my PSP is already 4.01firmware..... could not tell the different coz this is my 1st PSP...... never use another firmware before..... now, play tekken, naruto, sega rally....... really great this PSP.... now, what i need to learn more with this PSP? can i switch on my laptop wifi, so my psp can connect to the internet through my laptop wifi? im using celcom broadband. anyone know if we can do this???? |

Hi there, i'm just bought psp pouch but certainly it cannot fit to my phat psp after put UMD. Actually it's write for PSP 2000 (slim) I'm asking the seller and he said can using for PSP phat. Isn't true?

err. i got 1 airfoam pouch for fat psp, used it 2 times like that. now im using logitech case and mostly put my psp in my capdase belt pouch. if u want the airfoam pouch, i can sell it.. ill snap a pic of it and send to u if u interested. but later lor.. im at office now.. |
