Its a 2ft tank btw. Do you think it'll work?

I read somewhr that u can just gut the mealies with sayur. Need to have bedding also? sorry confused
*
you need to gutload the mealies for 2days when u first buy them, before feeding the hammie. Put in vege+kibbles. then after that only feed, cause more nutritions laugh.gif
after that u have to feed the mealworms daily also. xD

tongue.gif Me also same. So far 2 weeks my parents didn't find out. They just see a container with some color and powder like thing in it. Didn't see the mealies. Hehe...

My Roche don't like Prestige. Whatever the worm eats my hamsters get right? So I blend prestige lo. The guinea pig food is my choice. Neshie blends Britter Bunny in. Up to you la. But if you just wanna use fresh, it will smeall like rotting trash in a few days... Advise that you don do that.

2 weeks no beetle yet la. All the big ones already getting digested by Ferro and Roche. Hehe...

No need twizers la. My syrians like it with head, alive and all. Just pick up and give to the hammies. They will eat it whether dead or alive. Just make sure you buy mealies instead of superworms.

@Sangels: Eh? Not you ar? Sorry sorry. Hehe...
*
need to put some vege in with the mealies, else where they get their water supply from?

is tis the mealworm for my jojo?? it is so dam big sweat.gif  sweat.gif  my jojo manage to eat  5 ekor yesterday sweat.gif  sweat.gif
[attachmentid=491330]

Superworm.... the exoskeleton is harder, mealworms are much better than superworms. PLEASE don't go and feed SOOOOO MANYYYYY lah. 5 Superworms is TOO MUCH!

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 7 2008, 11:12 AM)
I think that's what we call "superworm". Mealworm looks exactly the same but is smaller.  blink.gif 5 ekor? equivalent to 10 mealies.

BTW guys, izzit good to feed a lot of mealies? Cuz if my hammies take a lot of mealies will take less vege. More vege is better right?
*
Limit mealworms as they are very high in protein but also in fat too. So give about 3 to 4 a day. We even don't feed more than 10 to a joey glider and their protein requirement is much higher than hamsters. 1 superworm is equivalent to about 3 or 4 mealworms. So if 5 superworms, then the hamster can get obese and health problems faster. Maybe even digestion problem since the superworm exoskeleton is harder.

QUOTE(neshie @ Jun 7 2008, 12:11 PM)
i thought superworms not suitable for hamsters?  hmm.gif
btw, can any syrian owners advice me on how to tame my Ocha? sad.gif
He doesn't seem to want to respond to me.
I put my hand in the tank he run away from it. Even if i put food on my hand also he dun wan.  sweat.gif
How do i tame him? Which method should i follow?
thanks  laugh.gif
*
Yah, superworm is not suitable.

Ah, takes time lah. Won't tame so fast wan. Now mine, all would come to smell my hand already but they won't come to sit on my palm lah. Slowly, put your Ocha's favourite food in your hand. There are a few ways to tame. If you be patient and feed Ocha with your hands and always attract Ocha with food in your hand, he will trust you more. Another way is holding the hamster daily but if you just grab your hamster everyday, it would be tame as in won't bite you but it would always avoid your hand to be grabbed from the cage. So I would go for the hand feeding one. Just be patient and do everyday, it will take many days before he learns to trust coz at Pet Shop, normally they already got bad experience with hands liao.

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 7 2008, 12:52 PM)
sweat.gif Almost same wif Ferro. He's not responsive like Roche. maybe cuz they come from the same place? But we only have the hammie for a few days. Just need to be more patient. What I do is, I put a lot of fresh food on  my hand. He'll have to walk on it to get the food. After a while he will automatic know that your hand = got food = must go to. Then only you start to train him. Slowly lift your hand off the cage. Always let him go back to the cage when he wants so that he know you hand is safe. After a while he will automatic come to your hand everytime. (hopefully lar. At least Roche is like that).
*
Yups. That's the best way.

QUOTE(anderyna @ Jun 7 2008, 08:55 PM)
huhu T.T . I thought about 25 - 30 bucks for 1.

25 to 30 ringgit is normally 1.5ft tank.

2ft tank is roughly more or less around Rm40. Pet Shops near my place sell at RM50.

Plastic is expensive because of the quality. Never be stingy when it comes to housing your pets comfortably. If lack of funds, then get something 2nd hand or get storage boxes.

hi. wan to ask is tis powder suitable for hammie?? i just bought from petshop yesterday cos my jojo hav pee smile on it sweat.gif  sweat.gif
after i put little powder to his fur, his pee smile gone away rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif
[attachmentid=491757]

tis is the close pic of worm i buy. how many ekor for my hammie everyday?? thanks notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
[attachmentid=491758]

1 superworm a day.

The powder is suitable. As long is for animals then ok. Powder sold for us are bad coz contains talcum.

Good tank. Similar with my set up but I use flower pot for hide house....

Yes, you need to feed your mealies with sayur. Feed sawi, kangkung, apple, carrot. Make sure you feed apple slices with skin coz that contains calcium. You don't really need bedding unless you wanna breed.

@brother: Yes I handle the mealies. Sacrifice a bit mar, very troublesome to use tweezers lar.

@Jayniel: Yes I give carrot slices as moisture. All they do is dry up so it's easier for me to pick out rather than other veges that rot. sweat.gif Plus my hammies are ok with fresh (taking more daily. Smoothie also like taking more) but dry food still reject. sweat.gif weird.

tongue.gif It might be me thinking so much but my syrians seem to grow bigger and furrier after having them a while. Hehe...

ooo. hahaha. no brand de tend to leak easily. Even the living world brand also quite lousy. I checked living world website, they do have a better water bottle, but i don't see it in stores. It's better to get those bottles which have the spring loaded ball to prevent leakage.
Lol, cuddle themselves like how? ohmy.gif

haha, mine also, easy to drip wan. ><
Hmm, mini cup not really recommended cause they can push + kick the bedding inside the water, and also it will be exposed to the air+dirt= more bacteria. Just get a new bottle and it will be fine. laugh.gif

hmm.gif But I'm using living world bottle. The small 100 ml wan i got 2 for my syrians. The 500 ml wan is for my GP Micheri. Never leak lar. You just have to fill water till it's full full and tip it over all at once. Then when the ball is covering the entrance of the metal spout, it won't leak.

blush.gif I bought before the spring wan. My robos and also my GP started drinking less and less water because the spring goes into place very fast, means only a little water come out. I think they feel reluctant to drink. biggrin.gif But they very happily drink when I use back living world.
