Syrians do bite actually. For me, it's depend how tame is your syrian. Everything with teeth do bite.     

Syrians with good size only can be as big as your palm. Which means from baby you need to pump them with good and nutrition food and all then only they can be that big, or else Syrians can be small also, but still bigger size compare with dwarf hamsters la...

any1 hav thread for me to look at all types of syrians?? i wanna do some research bout it before i plan anything..

I would be giving my report on Uncle Taro's Nutri Smoothie Carrot and Papaya flavor.

Let me start by saying that Roche, my syrian, most probably didn't grow up eating vegetables and I notice this because she only likes very very sweet vegetables like carrots and corn, and not leafy greens. So I'm still getting her used to taking veges.

I started by letting her smell the food container and she seems all excited. Then she climbed out of the cage and took a few licks of the smoothie and ran back in. Climbed out again, took a few licks, and ran back in.

I put the bowl in her cage. She ran on the wheel, then came and lick the smoothie. Then ran on the wheel, then lick smoothie. By morning the bowl was virtually clean.  One and the half tablespoon!

The cute thing was, she stashed some of the Prestige dry food in her pouch and empty it in the smoothie, and then take it out and eat it.  Reminds me of dipping fruits in chocolate.

So for a hamster who's still getting used to veges, she's seems to like the smoothie. Successful food introduction!

Yaa I think she would. It's considered really good because Roche prefers dry food like habitrail. So I introduced her to both Prestige and smoothie yesterday.  She doesn't seem to like the prune like things that come with the prestige packet though.

I'm introducing her to some mealies tonight.

So far her poo is ok lar. The normal ones. The prune thing is from the prestige hamster nature fruits and herbs. Like a dried frruit.

Okay, i got confession to make, im not sure if my hamster is a male or female. I think its a male but I can't pick it up coz it bites

But he GAVE it to you. You ADOPTED them already.  How come be can be like that. make people love the hamster dy then take it back. It wasn't like you're helping him with boarding service. 

Sometimes people are just stubborn in a bad way... Forget it lar. He won't take your advice.

But I guess it's better to get your own in case these kind of things happen again.

Go pet shack! Get the red-eyed ball-ball cutie! I'm still thinking of it until now le. Very attracted to it. But I didn't see any sable banded in Pet Shack yesterday. Got many cinnamon banded and a few cream banded. All look like a large ball!

How come dunno the way? Go Sunway Pyramid. Make a U-turn to the opposite of the sunway pyramid and you'll see many many shop lots. Pet Shack is there, with a bright yellow coloring boards.

I use a 2ft tank for my hamster, drill a whole at the side to put the bottle. Bought a Wodent Wheel and also a wooden house (the wooden hse has no base, so very easy to clean.

2ft tank = rm38
4oz bottle = RM 9
Suction cup = RM2
Wooden hse = RM11 (sumwhr around there la)

Okay the wodent wheel was pricy (RM65) but if u get a normal wheel, its all very cheap. Cheaper than habitrail. I think habitrail is a bit too small for syrians

Hamsters from stores like that are often bitey and overly cautious... I couldn't manage to get Yuu to stay on my hand for more than 3 seconds after so long. When I bought Yuu, I could see he was badly handled, in a very rough way. So he become very afraid...

Try to cup your hamster with 2 hands. Leave a hole between your finger and your thumb for your hand on top, for it to stick its head out. When it does, make the hole smaller and firmly grasp it, then lift it up enough to see the genitals. I use this tactic to check my robos gender. Robos are really fast and don't like being touched too much so this method works the best for me.

The wheel is imported from USA, IIRC. But the wheel is very nice, my hamster love it and spend hours daily there. I think the hole and the way the wheel in covered make it more secure for hamster rather than other wheel, which is more open.

Kota Dsara, but I drive to Cyberjaya (whr i study) so often pass Sunway. Problem is, its usually during rush hour. You could try taking the LRT to Kelana Jaya then taking a bus or taxi to Sunway Mentari. RM30 for nezu's hamster is reasonable I think. You got about 2mths to save up, everyday put RM1 in a tabung, then sure got RM30 lorrr
I played with my hamster just now - thats when i took the pics - and nowadays its just very curious everytime i put my hand in. Sniff sniff. Sometimes will even walk into my hand to sniff, but when i want to cup it, it runs away. Well, at least its some progress then before. It tried to nip me tho, coz i touched the food.

Oh btw, its hte first time I gave my hamster 'branded' food - Harry Hamster (not prestige as I mentioned before. my mistake) - and it really seems to like it. stuff the food into it's mouth. Very funny to see it trying to stuff a big piece into its mouth pouch. LOL!

same here. it doesnt eat all those cheap stuff like kuaci or pellets or the dried jagung. It only eats those thingy that looks like dog food. The ones that like biscuits like that.

Btw, do u guys put anything inside the tank/cage for it to bite bite?

haha... monday i will be on the way back to melaka. so will drop by subang jaya area. i want follow hun... but i dunno where to go. haha... coz i only know how to drive till subang jaya. =.=

jonyeap : you could just drive to subang then take the train. Taking the train is fun (but not during peak hours)

hahaha... u cant fit into my car. i got errr... bass guitar, bass amplifier, 7 tanks of pets, luggages, and 3 human. hahahha... i dun even know if can fit those in my car. i might need to tie my fren to the roof of the car. haha

i got 22 mice, 2 gerbil, 3 snakes, 3 glider, bass guitar, bass amp and luggage to bring.... =.= where to chuck? hahahha

Oh, timing not so good LOL... I go to Pet Family first.
I only know how to take LRT.... so to direct you I would be hopeless.
