my hamsters dont eat harry or prestige (i just bought prestige for hte first time - but the old food havent finished yet). I bought my hamster food from ikano petsafari - just a normal no branded one.

I dont think that brand really matters la. its the content of the hamster mix. I dont like to buy the mix that has a lot of kuaci and rabbit pellets

sometimes hamsters can be picky.

I use a 2ft tank for my hamster, drill a whole at the side to put the bottle. Bought a Wodent Wheel and also a wooden house (the wooden hse has no base, so very easy to clean.

2ft tank = rm38
4oz bottle = RM 9
Suction cup = RM2
Wooden hse = RM11 (sumwhr around there la)

Okay the wodent wheel was pricy (RM65) but if u get a normal wheel, its all very cheap. Cheaper than habitrail. I think habitrail is a bit too small for syrians

Kota Dsara, but I drive to Cyberjaya (whr i study) so often pass Sunway. Problem is, its usually during rush hour. You could try taking the LRT to Kelana Jaya then taking a bus or taxi to Sunway Mentari. RM30 for nezu's hamster is reasonable I think. You got about 2mths to save up, everyday put RM1 in a tabung, then sure got RM30 lorrr

I played with my hamster just now - thats when i took the pics - and nowadays its just very curious everytime i put my hand in. Sniff sniff. Sometimes will even walk into my hand to sniff, but when i want to cup it, it runs away. Well, at least its some progress then before. It tried to nip me tho, coz i touched the food.

Oh btw, its hte first time I gave my hamster 'branded' food - Harry Hamster (not prestige as I mentioned before. my mistake) - and it really seems to like it. stuff the food into it's mouth. Very funny to see it trying to stuff a big piece into its mouth pouch. LOL!

Err...actually...i stole took the dish from sakae sushi nearest to ss2 would be Curve

same here. it doesnt eat all those cheap stuff like kuaci or pellets or the dried jagung. It only eats those thingy that looks like dog food. The ones that like biscuits like that.

Btw, do u guys put anything inside the tank/cage for it to bite bite?

jonyeap : you could just drive to subang then take the train. Taking the train is fun (but not during peak hours)

i saw some petstore selling those wood or like stones for the hamsters to chew. wonder if any hamsters actually use it or not? coz i dont buy it

Actually its quite easy from subang to get to KL - just use the federal. But getting to Petaling Street and getting out might confuse u.

Again u can just park in Carrefour subang and take the KTM to kl. Bring ur frens. Jalan-jalan maaa

okay back to the topic, I asked if anyone uses the wood and stones that are supposedly for the hamster to chew chew? I only put in a cardboard roll (like the one in the middle of toilet paper) coz my hamster likes to run in a out it

yes, a tank is so much better. Thats why im selling off my old cage. I dont like metal bars coz the hamsters always bite it and hard to clean

OVO is habitrail OVO. its a rounded type of hamster cage.

mike, i agree with you. But I dont think guppy tanks are ugly if you accessorize nicely. Besides, its not about looking good. Its about how good it is for your hamster.

wah, prestige so cheap. Dang..i just bought a bag of harry hamster. Oh well. I was at curve this evening. din go to ikano la..just went there for dinner

is your storage cage plastic? If so, you can do it this cheap and effective way. Take a plier and a nail. Use the plier to pick up the nail. Heat it over the stove till its really really hot - red or white-ish. Poke holes in your storage cage. Tadah! instant ventilation holes

Another thing I did before- when I had to separate my hamsters because they fought - I had to makeshift a waterbottle. Using the hot nail, i punctured a hole in the cover then force in a tube and fill the bottle with water. Tadah...water bottle. Not good for long term coz the hamsters will start biting the tube

Honestly, you can google up a lot of the information that you want to know about. then come back here if you find any information that is weird or want to know/share experience

Becareful when you buy hamsters from petstores. Most of them aren't treated nicely. I 'rescued' my current hamster from this petstore in SS2 which chucked 4-5 hamsters in a really small tank and just fed it kuaci & put in 2 inches of those huge wood bedding. Not only that, it screeches whenever u went near. Must hv been mistreated
