I would like to spray it from within if it's possible. The alternative would be to paint it from the outside.

Hmm... never considered using staple bullets, will see how much those weigh.

8tvt - This model is was produced by AMT, not Bandai. They don't snap fit. Cement/Glue needs to be used

er ... do u "play" with your kit like masak-masak? twist here, move there all the time?

if u don't, i suggest since u r not going to change the pose nor playing with it in the future, do a fix pose. use extra thin cement, or even super glue (a little bit enuf) on the joint. u will find the joint darn hard until u break the plastic also it wont move.

if u like to play with your kit, i really dun know any way to prevent and maintain.

if u just need to move it a few times, mebbe to take photo, then u can try add a little clear in the joint. dilute hte paint, just like doing panel line. it will make the joint tougher. but still cannot tahan masak-masak time tongue.gif

QUOTE(naith @ Sep 4 2008, 08:26 PM)
I was wondering if any of you have a suggestion for my dilemma:

I have a Star Trek model (Enterprise-E smile.gif ) which I bought about a decade ago(I was really young back then, so didn't really understand some of the instructions). There's a step in the instructions which instructs us to put a 1 gram weight on each of the nacelles(the pair of long things on the starship) to offset the balance.

Unfortunately, since the nacelles have already been assembled, it's little difficult to put weights into it. I have been able to pry open the rear tip of the nacelles, which gives on opening of roughly 0.5 cm in diameter. Could you guys suggest an object I could use a weight that can fit into it? The instructions suggested an epoxy weight, but I'm not sure where to get those(added to the fact that the instructions suggested that it's placed inside the nacelle before it's assembled)

On another issue, I painted the end of the end of the nacelle in clear red from the inside(I think I was originally planning to put an LED inside, but decided not too) Can a Tamiya spray can be modified with a long nozzle(something like a straw but thinner) so that I can fit it through the same hole which I pried open earlier? And if so, how is that done?

Get silicon glue like toothpaste. Squece how many gram inside as you like. Because it's paste form, easy for you to put inside a hole.

Any brand will do. Normally it state,' Silicon glue for fish tank' , " multi purpose silicon" or "silicon for gasket". Some with clear form and some is red or black. Any hardware or supermarket got sell. Get the cheapest one will do.

but i dun think u can calculate the weight if direct inject into the kit. unless measure first, then only inject- (into the 0.5mm hole, which i still have doubt)

naith, i think it's just a very small matter. try to think simple and probably u already solve your problem in less than 1 hour smile.gif

Hail all Sifus in this thread. This might be a bit off-topic, but it is still considered "painting". Look at this picture, do you guys know what was used to draw the eyebrows and eyelashes? Could it be a fine paintbrush or maybe a very fine marker? Note that a single strand of eyelash is even thinner than a 1mm notch on the ruler.

dear charmy.. those mr.metal color need to be used wt airbrush.. i'm afraid if u buff a handpainted one with b bit diff fr airbrush one..

buff means very lightly rub with something soft like cotton/cloth.. if done correctly.. u might stil get some shine for ur case, ..

Try to mix with some clear gloss paint an paint together. Or AB a layer of gloss paint. That will give you very shine surface.

Those Mr. Metal color isnt meant to be used for handpainting... handpaint d not nice wan lol. Why not u try mixing Mr. Color ( not mr Metal ) Silver and Super Black ? ( super black is basically black color that is VERY glossy ) The ratio u have to discover urself lo, since we dont know what kind of " dark " u want. biggrin.gif

Other than that.... u can just handpaint with Mr. Color Metal Black. Creating shine with hand paint is difficult eh... air brush is the best way out.
Once u paint d u might consider spraying with Mr. Topcoat Gloss.

Just my idea. biggrin.gif
