ah reformatting works. gonna get myself an enclosure tomorrow and try and do it from my PC. I just hope my initial fiddling didn't cause damage to the NAND chip.

The in-game XMB is great. Really handy. I'm not sure if its either TM or PSN is having problem (kept on dc-ing and slow networking even with locals).
