Brief introduction of the Sharp 902sh / 903sh

=========================================

The 902sh / 903sh is brought in by various people and ways from Japan, Europe, Hong Kong and Taiwan. It must be unlocked in order to use in other countries.

However, it got discontinued in year 2006 and the only way to get it is to find second hand sets. It can?t be bought from handphone shops like those in Lowyat so you might as well try your luck in Garage Sales or Lelong.com.

here's a pic of our sexy Sharp 902sh and Sharp 903sh:

920sh price...probably going to go up, I traded a 904sh and a 705sh for a 920sh. About an equal trade, 904sh I got really cheap from japan and 705sh also cheap too.

for the motion sensor....it is use extensively on the mp3 player...can change track forward or backward by swinging the phone to the left or right...sms can be check by tapping the right top corner of the screen....can only be done when the "receiving sms" screen is shown...after that can't be tap as it will dock to the screen bottom after a certain period. motion control can be use when browsing or reading a pdf or document file....to switch to horizontal or vertical view....after a few days using the phone it seems that the motion control has a mechanism to prevent accidental activation.

Anyway since hotlink is my backup line so I only bring 2 phones out during weekend.

hope it goes well for you rclxms.gif . heres a tip if you get the UIM error msg at phone startup, try to disable your sim card's pin code request on another phone, cos i noticed that my p905i keep getting UIM error when i turn on pin code request...i have to put my sim card in another phone to disable pin request then only put back in p905i then can detect. ericsson already knows about this (but just in case he forgets it, you can tell him about it again biggrin.gif ) and maybe/hopefully L-shaped sim don't have this problem icon_rolleyes.gif

wow you guys seriously want a gathering ka?

i did another docomo sim card testing with vodafone just now, still no luck in detecting my sim card. ahhhh i guess it really needs a lot of patient and testing sad.gif

i might settle down with a normal phone in the mean time, probably take a SE P1i, hehe, wanna try touch screen + UIQ 3 interface, rich features with attractive price tag.

for a moment I thought you're refering to the picture taken and hanged on your laptop wall paper. Seriously the interface really puts ours into shame. My guess the lack of softwares of theme requires you to obtain it from Imode.

ohyah anyway, tonight i might be meeting up with ericsson once again to test out my sim card on docomo phone

most probably will do it at SS2, anybody wanna come? time should be around 9PM.
*
No wonder la. Suppose to meet him tonight to get my cable. hahaha, but ladies 1st la, after you. Btw pana, can you pull back the previous post made by badegg on the configuration for calcium 3gp converter? or brother vodafone is kind enough to provide a full review on the whole conversion. I'm totally lost.

p.s flicker means if you're capturing photos under fluorescent lights or crt tvs where they flicker to make images move at certain hertz'

btw anyone know how to plug in the flash?

not sure, but is pretty difficult to find it as you know, hotlink sim pack is all sealed.

you may refer to the PDF file created by vodafone, got some sample of hotlink sim chip pattern there (but not the L shape type)

the taiwan version of 920SH is called WX-T92 (with all features unlocked, including MMS/GPRS)

awong is one of our proud owner of Softbank 920SH. i guess the price of 920SH has been going up since the multimedia is unlockable now.

300USD for a 920SH...conversion to RM would be lesser than RM1K only. (the price should be excluding hypersim & media unlock card right?)

softbank has lesser issue on network stability.

get the taiwan version WX-T92 if you want something which is in complete specs + stabile network. (but price aint cheap, it is 2K++)

something weird has happened... my phone has been on since last thursday with no auto shutdown.
not sure its because i left my phone at home since then... and i noticed also the top logo is showing GSM instead of GPRS since last week...

not sure if auto shutdown is related to cases above. but previously it will auto shutdown even i left it at home...

not sure its because i left my phone at home since then... and i noticed also the top logo is showing GSM instead of GPRS since last week...

not sure if auto shutdown is related to cases above. but previously it will auto shutdown even i left it at home...

Hi guys, I'm new and I have totally no knowledge in J-Phone cracking thingy and anything about hypersim/q-sim and stuffs.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask, anyway, after reading a few pages in this thread (there are too many of them for me to finish it >.<) , I found out that SE W62S can be used here in Malaysia with a little bit of cracking.

Here's my questions, other than asking someone from Japan to bring in the phone or get it online, is there any other way to get that phone? What about the price?
And what do I need to do after getting the phone? Get a hypersim or something? How does this hypersim thingy work? Which network is supported by the cracked phone?

Please kindly throw me some beginner's links or PM me the steps on how to get J-Phones work in Malaysia.

kena poison liao by you ppl here XD

i used 920sh in public and it gets looks haha, but it scratches so easily...sad.gif

http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d84643245

what does anyone think of skinning the 920sh? I as much as I like the shine to it, I think a solid gold skin similar to the back of 920sh would be better plus the scratches...ugh

lol you can trick your friend with that finger print scan laugh.gif

920SH media unlocked set, means camera / music player / video player can be used. MMS/GPRS will still be locked.

if you want a fully unlocked set (including MMS/GPRS), then you may consider the TW/HK version, the WX-T92 / SX863. but price would be more expensive, 2K plus.

they've been doing it since the 902sh/903sh days probably since the first global roaming vodafone japan. I guess the proximity to japan and other factors like triving grey markey fuel it

8800 cause now only less then 1k(700-900) for a used one in good condition .

Afraid none of them because all of the newer J-phone models, the WAP/MMS settings are obtained through OTA re provisioning which available on its origin network only. Besides, Softbank 705Px able to use GRPS through bypass SIM unlock but not MMS because they don't use MMS anymore but Mail (with only Settings tailored to Softbank Mail server).

so 705px is confirmed working with gprs with hypersim? Thought so, b/c I remember seeing the settings available for editing and adding profiles

and that means Zack Styler's 804sh should work on gprs also as it has the settings editable?

you cant, but try to get used to the short cut key under the accept call key button, you can do most of the settings folders from there without a repro. I've been using my 903sh and 920sh like that and can avoid the repro all together for most functions

Hmm not sure if it accepts WAP PUSH message from our local telcos but most probably wont because of different message structure used in Japanese firmware. If it accepts, then you can get rid of re provisioning message.

Yes, confirmed working and personally tested. This should apply to 705P, 705Px and 706P also.

Forgot to tell that yes 804SH is also working and tested by borrowing my friend's yellow 804SH.

Nope, all of them with repro but you could use data packet related services/functions with the phone. Using hypercard 256 with 705Px.

Nope, all of them with repro but you could use data packet related services/functions with the phone. Using hypercard 256 with 705Px.
*
weird my hyper256 didnt work on it, and i got invalid sim card errors even after master reset, must be something with the sim card type in the US causing it. as the same hypercard is in my 920sh working prfectly

yep on hthe reflective surface even though its metal, I thought it wouldnt be as bad as the 904sh, and guy who owned it before me had the same issue. waiting for any skins for the top,

Hmm did you use 3G USIM card on it? It seems the phone only accepts 3G USIM card. I did try on Maxis and Celcom both could use GRPS as long as the settings are correct.

there are a few golden rules to follow, i read.

well it worked using an INEX 128 hypercard with my sim card without many issues, I think it is a 3g usim since it has 3g written on it. If I get another 705p I'll probably try it again with other sim cards.

sad.gif you'd just made me thinked twice on keeping the phone. now considering on selling on the phone ohmy.gif . But then, its a pity to let go.

come, lets all support our ambassor too, each of us buy one handtruck, should help her fund the J-phone in an instance laugh.gif . j/k next time I'll buy you lunch ya, please don't boil up.

Regarding on the screen problem, I see that its a common phenomena in LCDs. It only occurs when the LCD has been in use for a length period. But it seems that the batch might have been the defective batch.

Anyone managed to make a correct aspect ratio for the Imode standby screen? Means a video clip wallpaper for the phone

sweat.gif cause the feeling of members beginning to leaving the club. Don't one to be the last man standing. Likewise, I do like the phone, just cant take too much time playing with it. If Hinika and the rest will remain, then I shall do the same la. What bout panasonic88? I think the biggest question among all of the members here is which phone you're going to purchase, and possibly the date. You know la, we are dead serious on throwing you a opening ceremony on receiving your phone whistling.gif , as well as organizing a gathering. Well the date should also fit after our brother morning glory gets his phone. Boy he must be full of toxic by now. The time has come... The price of 920P in Japan is way cheaper than P905i too. So 920P will be my first choice.

Vervain,

All points 1-12 directly quoted from bennyhk himself - I asked him specifically for 920SH/P models.
Since he's selling the hypersim so I'd give him credit for backing it up using test results.

Word of caution though, "tested in singapore" context. Which is why we need a new batch of guinea pigs to verify it for local telcos.

Brother vodafone and bearbrick: So when is the stock coming in la?

Cheers

I think the info is will need a bit of time to sink in... (it's still less than 4hrs old anyway) So let's share more info and reviews!

sad.gif you'd just made me thinked twice on keeping the phone. now considering on selling on the phone ohmy.gif . But then, its a pity to let go.

Anyone managed to make a correct aspect ratio for the Imode standby screen? Means a video clip wallpaper for the phone
*
lol, don follow my footsteps la, you might regret tongue.gif
well for me i just put it up and see if anyone interested. if no buyers i can keep it too. just feel pity coz everyday leave the phone at home, so sell to those who can utilise it more than me.

anyway if 1 day digi can be stably use with p905i i sure will use it back.

so fast got member wan to sell their p905i ady   shocking.gif

im satisfied with mine currently and it was a pretty phone ever... hehe...   drool.gif

better think twice or more and more before you place order for the phone,
not everyone can be use with those restrictions,
buy it only when you rili love and understand it  laugh.gif
*
Well the only restriction I cant live with is the constant CPR I need to do when using Digi ><"

too bad for me as i cant always bring out my jphone with me sad.gif

Zack Styler,

Pictures-wise, let's leave that to our pros vodafone and bearbrick, shall we? Dont want to steal their thunder mar.... free bumps for u guys in advance!

I'm trying hard to maintain my rational approach amidst the poisonings....ugh.... well if this new hypersim is the REAL DEAL, this will certainly generate new interest in SOFTBANK phones. (No offense those in the DOCOMO camp, fufufufu)

Proceed with caution!! Keep your eyes peeled for new compatibility feedback!

there is no define duration of cracking the new batches of 906. It all boils down on the complexity and the workability of the phone. The more restriction imposed, the long it will take to crack the whole services or function. So its all a gamble. if you can't wait, get the phone, and hope the current bypass sim can work flawlessly or at least give you a good reception for telco services. Or you can wait

903SH can be considered as a collector item right now lah... as its still a "Fully operational with less restrictions & no need any by-pass sim" J-phone here in m'sia...

just go straight ahead to get the Fujitsu 905i... rclxms.gif

never sold in america either, just a lot of imported phone stores bring the ming (and 2nd hands show up are cheap under 200usd), b/c for a phone not brought here, its really popular and by imported stores , the basic nokia and sony ericsson (n73, k800i, etc) local phones in sg, malyasia, etc are rare here unless I go to chinatown nyc then I see w810, w800i, etc everywhere laugh.gif but the RAZR is still very popular, so yeah, its really bad here in the US with phone choice laugh.gif

I think jphone only popular wherever there is huge chinese population like LA, SF and in canada, most ebay postings of jphones come from the same area of the US

there is no define duration of cracking the new batches of 906.
*

hey thanks for your help.

so from what i understand it means that i can still use the current type of bypass sim to use on the 906 series? i mean atleast can make calls and sms? (put aside the good reception part)

lol sorry another noob question here.

just that feel tempted to buy a j phone but dunno where to start.

don't get so tempted 1st.
U need to at least understand the culture of J-Phone.

This is what they told me before when I was also as tempted as u.

owning exotic J-Phone and owning local SE/NK/SS is like owing a Ferari and Proton.

J-Phone=Ferari
SE/NK/SS=Proton

Ferari in Malaysia u hv certain limitation like there are certain area with high and huge bump which your Ferari kinda hard to cross doh.gif also certain area like going up a high slope in shopping center well i guess u understand la.

Then proton i guess not much problem whith it.

So same goes to J-Phone where you will have certain limitation but you can obtain no limitation in term of stability and functionaity from local phone over exotic J-Phone.

But for me I am satisfied with J-Phone performence and exotic design so I am so glad to get one of it even it cost me more than local SE/NK/SS with no limitation.

It is because I love J-Phone SoftBank 920P wub.gif wub.gif (effect of heavily poisoned by Panasonic88)

yes i understand what u mean man lol jphones=ferrari? laugh.gif man then i need to own a ferrari(jphone) now.
from what i understand that the softbank phones are more stable then the docomo's? so its fine with me.
bsides i dont mms too lol is been like how many years since i mms( when the time maxis is charging free for every mms) so it should be fine for me too.

in the end im truly aware of the limitation but i still got some part that im not that understand ( the by pass sim part) cause i realy very poisoned by the 906 series even i can find only a few pic of it lol. thats y i wanna ask is the current by pass sim can be use on the newer 906 series? if the waiting period is long maybe i shud just settle for the current model.

lol after searching info from the web ive been poisoned by the 920P too drool.gif drool.gif damm n my friend is also poisoned by the pink 920sh.

has anyone tried a viera 920p? I'm curious to know if it will work here. I have a V800 and was hoping I could upgrade to the 920p eventually.

welcome welcome to dark side of 920P wub.gif

I am goin to get my 920P soon but duno when oni.

no ppl here tested 920P yet because the issue of its locked camera n media player was oni recently unlocked by benny new SoftBank card but there was a little problem bringing in that new SoftBank card. so eventually have to wait also.

lol. part of the reason I wanted this phone was for its camera (the other being I was bored of seeing all those pesky i-phones and wanted something "different" tongue.gif). I hope things work out ok.
