hi bro voda,
these new phones (P905i, SO905iCS etc..., u just bring them in & sell right away in stock condition right? then we end user merge our local SIM with one of those by-pass sim to put into the phone & use straight away, am i correct? meaning no additional flashing/unlocking method is required? BTW, for SO905iSC, is the phone user interface in Japanese only? or there is an option to switch to English? which is the best compatible bypass SIM being tested so far for this model? which telco (maxis, celcom, digi, postpaid/prepaid) works best for it? if maxis/celcom, how good in utilising 3G functions? (video call particularly) sorry for asking such long questions... |

QUOTE(vodafone @ May 20 2008, 04:20 PM) Yo bro, here are the answers for your doubts: wow, i c... thanks for the info1) Yes, condition same as when my supplier send to me. 2) Yes, just overlap the bypass with your SIM card together and put into the phone to use it right away. No flashing/unlocking required. 3) Mostly all J-phone comes in bilingual language. You can switch to English interface in SO905iCS like 903SH one. 4) Hmm, for the one I tested, Q-SIM or V-SIM or Hypercard 256 for Softbank models is good enough. 5) Maxis or Celcom, avoid DiGi on DoCoMo phones. 6) For DoCoMo models that support 3G (W-CDMA), you can only make voice/video calls but not receiving any voice/video calls). Hope that helps. some extension for Q6: so is there a funtion inside the SO905iSC where we can switch between auto/GSM only just like 903SH so the phone won't be confusing in certain situations? how about capability of MMS and internet browsing? thanks again |

QUOTE(vodafone @ May 20 2008, 04:47 PM) Hi, ouch... that's quite a drawback... then i believe the GPS function shall not be usable here too... sigh...You can switch the network mode to 3G/GSM, 3G GSM/GPRS. I don't think it is built-in with MMS as to what the newer models do. They already using Mail all the way and no MMS. GRPS is not usable because no settings input section provided. another draw back... wifi is not included, which is a great module to compensate for the lack of MMS/GPRS fucntion... but guess we can't have everything... |

QUOTE(Seaedge @ May 28 2008, 09:38 AM) ya... that's what i thought of in response to pana jie jie's explaination... in general, i always thought wifi is a standardized "protocol" so that many hardwares can comunicate regardless of regions... anyway, i'm not surprise the japanese implement certain kinds of "locks" even towards this function... |

QUOTE(panasonic88 @ May 28 2008, 10:09 AM) requoting my sentences info from hardwarezone singapore ================================== "Actually, sorry to disappoint you bro but I have to drop this bad news on you. Having read through K-tai Watch website and several sources, it has been confirmed that the Wifi feature on the N906iL is simply restricted to FOMA service area in Japan only, just like how 1-seg TV works on NTT Docomo phones. Simply to put, unless a Docomo FOMA simcard is inserted into the handset, the Wifi feature will be locked down, as simple as that. This move is actually understandable because with the new NEC N906iL model, NTT Docomo this time has introduced a new flat-rate Wireless LAN data plan known as Home-U, as revealed in this japanese article by K-tai Watch. It comes at a monthly flat-rate price of 1029yen, and you will be able to use data access at home on i-mode, W-LAN networks as well as making free voice-calls via VoIP feature at home, as long as you have the NEC N906iL handset with this Home-U plan subscribed. On top of this new plan, current domestic NTT Docomo subscribers must also have the packet data service (known as Pakehodai to them) or packet data-full (Pakehodai-Full) subscribed first before been able to use this service, on their NEC N906iL. Their Pakehodai-Full plans are actually similiar to what we have here locally via service providers like Singtel or Starhub, where we pay a monthly flat-rate pricing for fixed data access plans via 3.5G networks, for example ST's Broadband on Mobile, and Starhub's MaxMobile plans." ================================== imo, do not put high hopes in it ***pling pliang*** (heart break) |

QUOTE(vodafone @ May 28 2008, 10:29 AM) Yeah, I read and according to the service reference diagram, there is a need to connect to FOMA network service. So hope for using the WiFi is 0.00001%. Eyeing for SH906i then. QUOTE(panasonic88 @ May 28 2008, 10:46 AM) ya... but SH906i not bad at all... |
