R u using N82 + Garmin? If yes, then sometime it does showing funny thing, eg: when the route show to turn right, but the voice saying "Turn left"  sweat.gif
The recalculating is due to u din fallow the track suggested.. It need recalculate the route for you and guide you back to correct way...

Hey there,

It's been a while since I came back to this N82 topic. Yes, I am using N82 with GMXT 4.10.80. It fixed the whole pencil tool issue with SMS, which is great but it's still bugged.

I did follow the track suggested. I was at a traffic light. It was red so I stopped. While I was NOT moving, the arrow went on rotating pointing towards the opposite direction I am facing. It points to the back while we are facing the front, then it kept saying recalculating, etc. That's the problem I encountered, not that I purposely went against the suggested track.

Does it happen to you? Any idea how to fix this problem?

I dont have that auto-rotation cause Garmin to hang problem. I am still using the old map when the GMXT guide was first posted. I believe it's June 2007 map. I am fine with that. I know we can easily gain access to new map by suggesting 2 POIs but then I am too lazy to do it.

I am trying to play with the settings and see how it goes. Will update you guys tomorrow if I found anything from the messing with the configurations. Thanks for replying, man.

OK want to know some info about Memory

As we know we have 2 : phone mory (100mb) and memory card (2gb)

See the problem is when i browse my memory card and phone memory from USB Data transfer, i realize that all the folders shown in my memory card for example

Memory card 1.95 GB total memory, 1.50 GB Free , 400MB used
If sum up 1.50GB + 400 MB = 1.90GB but total memory is 1.95GB , therefore where does my 0.05GB @ 50MB gone?

addtion: How to format phone memory?

What is the effect of formatting phone memory and memory card?
I just want to delete (clear) all my files i transfered/installed from both my memory card (phone memory and memory card) without accidentally deleting important files.

If you have learn about the technical definition of bits and bytes, you will know that a 2GB = 2 x 1024 x 1024 x 1024 bytes. icon_idea.gif
BUT then, in the marketing world, they define 2GB as 2,000 megabytes. So divided by 1024 you get roughly 1.95GB which is the total memory of your memory card. You can find this in every storage devices eg. memory cards, CD/DVD, hard disks, etc. They all defined like this. You won't get the exact computational amount of bytes from your storage media. rolleyes.gif
By formatting, you clear everything in the memory. manually delete won't risk all your important data. smile.gif

Why the GMXT cursor for N82 jumps around ?

Bear in mind N82 built-in GPS only have accuracy of +/- 30m. Unlike dedicated commerical GPS device with accuracy of +/- 5-10m.

With such a big variation (30m) although you are stationary, N82 GPS might still be detecting in an area of +/-30m. Therefore you might be virtually moving up, down, left, right... even though you are stationary, especially when you don't have clear line of sight with the satellite like in a car, trees/buildings partially blocking, clouds, invisible inteference, etc.

The things is if u look at the picture below as i shown.

The capacity 1.87 GB
Free space 1.69 GB
Used space 188 MB

But when i highlight all my folders (i enable show hidden files) in my memory card, it shows size on disk 173 MB

188 MB used - 173 MB (total file size) = 15 MB . This 15 MB of data where is it?

user posted image

The main things here is that i want to clear all my files. How can i do that? How to restore back to original both my memory card and phone memory? In case next time i want to sell away my phone. I want my phone memory and memory card don't contain my files (scare my beautiful self image photo been leaked)

highwindz88,
This will get technical. For a 2GB with FAT (FAT16) file system, it is using 32KB cluster size (default).
e.g. If a file is 100KB in size, it will take up 4x32KB space = 128KB. The remaining 28KB will be useless/redundant.

Of course in FAT you can use a smaller cluster, e.g. 8KB (for discussion sake). For a 100KB file, it will use 13x8KB = 104KB. You will waste 4KB only if you use 8KB cluster compared to 32KB cluster.

The advantage of using bigger cluster is faster seek and read time, as the OS need to read from fewer clusters and shorter search time for each of the cluster. But it waste a lot of empty space.

To free up space, either you save all your files in 32KB cluster size (which is near impossible).

The free space will be released automatically when you delete the file. e.g. when you delete the 100KB file, it will free up 128KB (based on 32KB cluster for 2GB FAT file system)

If you don't understand any of my explanation above rclxub.gif , read more about FAT/FAT32/NTFS and cluster size from
1) Google
2) Wiki
3) close one eye and accept it as how computer file system works. If you don't believe me, backup the entire memory card, and delete all files. You will get back all exact 2GB. That's 2x1024x1024x1024 bytes = 2,147,483,648 bytes. Or 2,048MB. Or 2,097,152KB. rclxub.gif

AFAIK, currently emTube is not working. The developers are trying to fix it.

ahh... edited.

1) Format memory card (several times or do a fill load)
2) Restore phone default setting

Card ID is the GPS ID (I assume you are refering to GMXT)
Open GMXT -> Settings -> About

Basically yes, all clear. Panoman will be gone, as it is default install into Memory Card. That's the easiest way to clear all.

Slower way is to uninstall one by one... then delete the remaining files one by one... then do a zero-fill on remaining free space... which is very tedious and troublesome.

Technically, experts can still recover the data, if you watch too much CIA/CSI/James Pondan 007/etc. tongue.gif

Mayb the files are in the c: in phone rather than memory card.
