Btw, anyone know how to hide music file from showing in ringtone Profile?

Also, SanDisk 8GB microSDHC owner, can your Mobilemate Micro reader read ur Ori Nokia 2GB microSD card??

*
1) I have found a few methods to hide files, but I have no time to test it out yet. Therefore, sorry no solution for you... yet. I will update once I free and test it.

2) The USB micro-SD card reader can support Nokia 2GB micro-SD card. Actually, it should support all micro-SD cards. I use it to copy all my rubbish data from 2GB->8GB card.

3) However, if you notice the mobilemate micro reader, it is stated micro-SD on top... and M2 at the bottom. Meaning, does it support M2 cards ?

any webstie or guidlines?
i didn't know can't create cert anymore using symbian signed.
any mehthdo?

Many methods. Try to look around, especially N82 v1 thread. Also google for it. Even though I have the cert which lasts me until 2010, but I hacked my phone and now I can sign and install all files in a fly. I can even sign and install unsigned app directly into h/p.

Hi there,
wanna ask something..
when we buy this phone , wat thing we need to check?
and how to check?

(if we buy 2nd hand hp of N82 and no warranty)

any suggestion?
*
On top of the basic things like matching serial/ID/IMEI/etc.

1) Does it comes in full package ? Box ? All accessories (refer Nokia site) ?
2) Why no warranty ? As this phone is launch earliest Dec'07, no matter what, there should still be some warranty until Dec'08 (assume minimum 12 mths std warranty)
3) Is it a stolen phone ? Ask for the IMEI and post it here...
4) Since no warranty, there must be something wrong with the phone...

Why the GMXT cursor for N82 jumps around ?

Bear in mind N82 built-in GPS only have accuracy of +/- 30m. Unlike dedicated commerical GPS device with accuracy of +/- 5-10m.

With such a big variation (30m) although you are stationary, N82 GPS might still be detecting in an area of +/-30m. Therefore you might be virtually moving up, down, left, right... even though you are stationary, especially when you don't have clear line of sight with the satellite like in a car, trees/buildings partially blocking, clouds, invisible inteference, etc.

The things is if u look at the picture below as i shown.

The capacity    1.87 GB
Free space      1.69 GB
Used space     188 MB

But when i highlight all my folders (i enable show hidden files) in my memory card, it shows size on disk 173 MB

188 MB used - 173 MB (total file size)  = 15 MB .  This 15 MB of data where is it?

highwindz88,
This will get technical. For a 2GB with FAT (FAT16) file system, it is using 32KB cluster size (default).
e.g. If a file is 100KB in size, it will take up 4x32KB space = 128KB. The remaining 28KB will be useless/redundant.

Of course in FAT you can use a smaller cluster, e.g. 8KB (for discussion sake). For a 100KB file, it will use 13x8KB = 104KB. You will waste 4KB only if you use 8KB cluster compared to 32KB cluster.

The advantage of using bigger cluster is faster seek and read time, as the OS need to read from fewer clusters and shorter search time for each of the cluster. But it waste a lot of empty space.

To free up space, either you save all your files in 32KB cluster size (which is near impossible).

The free space will be released automatically when you delete the file. e.g. when you delete the 100KB file, it will free up 128KB (based on 32KB cluster for 2GB FAT file system)

If you don't understand any of my explanation above rclxub.gif , read more about FAT/FAT32/NTFS and cluster size from
1) Google
2) Wiki
3) close one eye and accept it as how computer file system works. If you don't believe me, backup the entire memory card, and delete all files. You will get back all exact 2GB. That's 2x1024x1024x1024 bytes = 2,147,483,648 bytes. Or 2,048MB. Or 2,097,152KB. rclxub.gif

1) Format memory card (several times or do a fill load)
2) Restore phone default setting

so to clear all my files on memory card > format memory card

and if to clear files on phone memory > restore default setting

correct? will i lose anything if i format memory card, coz i heard somewhere we will lose the Panoman application if we format memory card.

restore default setting is safe?
*
Basically yes, all clear. Panoman will be gone, as it is default install into Memory Card. That's the easiest way to clear all.

Slower way is to uninstall one by one... then delete the remaining files one by one... then do a zero-fill on remaining free space... which is very tedious and troublesome.

Technically, experts can still recover the data, if you watch too much CIA/CSI/James Pondan 007/etc. tongue.gif

So if i back-up my file from memory card into pc. After i format memory card i can transfer back Panoman into my memory card rite.

Another thing (man i juz keep on asking) , i delete Coreplayer last week, then install Coreplayer again today, how come my last time playlist still remains haha even though those files no more in my memory card. system cache or something maybe?
*
Problem:
(1) You need to know which folder Panoman is using
\private\ ?
\system\ ?
C:\ ?
E:\ ?

(2) Yes, there are a lot of caches. That's why it is easier, better and cleaner to format than delete/uninstall one by one.

Might as well find Panoman installer from Nokia, I think it is around somewhere, I didn't search for it.

wonder how come since i put the garmin into my memory card..everytime i take it out and put it in..it always say Installing..lolz..and then come out unable to finish installation from memory card..help~
*
You need to get it right, either install it manually from phone (use default File Manager or FExplorer/YBrowser/etc.) to run the installer. Once installed successfully once, it won't pop-out "Installing..." whenever you pull out and push in the micro-SD or USB cable.

anyway to fix this?

Try delete:
[Memory Card] E:\Garmin\Apps\Symbian\RES\GarminMobileXT.SIS
*edit: Better move the file to your PC or another folder. If it raise error, you can restore it. sweat.gif

Anyone using Fexplorer 1.18 Beta version? Do you having difficulties on installing it? I have signed the application myself same as other unsigned application but this software said cert error.
*
I'm using the latest 1.18b which is actually 1.21b expiring in Sep 2008. No problem with it.
1) Ensure you download the S60v3 beta version. Not the S60 version
2) Make sure you use the right .cer and .key generated. Has your cert expired ?

Is 2GB the maximum size i can pump into this baby?

How's the sound quality and the loudspeaker?
*
Current limit is 8GB
Maximum limit is 32GB (16GB micro-SD should be coming out end of this year)

Sound quality not as good as N81.
Most ppl claim N82 is softer than N95/n95 8GB.

Hey guys, My new phoneset (N82 lah) battery goes down to 2 bars and slightly more than half day..is it normal ah?.. just playing music, some bluetooth file transfers and a couple of short phone calls. I'm surprised its like eating battery like no tomorrow?. Should I claim battery warranty ah?. I've not come across this problem with other phones..half day down to 2 bars after charging whole night..Unbelievable lah!.
*
If yours is original phone (not AP) then you can try claim battery warranty. My friend did once and got a new battery.

Are you using those magnetic flip-pouch ?
Or did you place the phone near electro-magnetic stuff ?
Do you have a lot of TSR installed and running ? e.g. task manager, screensaver, etc.

Based on your brief description above, it should last 2 days.

I don't see any technical reason why electro magnetics can affect battery power. Must be something wrong thats eating battery. There's NO tsr's or screen saver, purely in standard mode..I'm not a application intesive user...just casual., no games either. Hmmm..baffling!
*
If you read all the previous pages, there are some users magnetic-flip-pouch activating the camera on and off continuously, with the camera cover closed.

If it really baffles you, I suggest to submit the battery for warranty claim. I'm think AP phone has warranty as well.

I'm having the same problem too... just use phone calling and sms-ing, 1 day battery kong. And my battery abit strange, no matter how long i charged it, it still wont full, and phone will auto shutdown when battery left 4 bars or 45% of the remaining battery. Strange.
*
Your case sounds like 99.99% battery problem. A new battery should not drop from 4 bar to shutdown. Even 1 bar, I can talk for 5-10min and keep on beeping, i.e. estimate 20% juice left, before shutdown when <10%.

*** I'm talking about original battery. Not sure about battery package from AP set.

My advise: go claim warranty.

Uninstall? Of course not, why would i delete Garmin application. What i meant was the Garmin picture icons appearing in Gallery. C'mon those installed Garmin would know tis.
*
Two ways to do it:
(1) Take out the micro-SD and plug into USB card reader
(2) Connect N82 using USB cable, and select USB Transfer on the phone

(a) Set your windows explorer to view hidden files
(b) Look in each of Garmin subfolder for a folder named "_palbtn'. This means the images exists in this folder. To get some idea of the image filename, you can browse in that folder.
© Highlight the relevant image files (.mbm, .bmp, .png, etc.)
-> right click
-> properties
-> set as hidden
(d) delete the "_palbtn" folder and all subdirectories under it.
