oh for sure kazasho...  icon_rolleyes.gif
i will try later today.

by the way guys,
i can see my HD partitioned into two C (OS) and D (system backup).
My HDD capacity is 250GB.
As we know 1kb=1024 bytes, thus 250GB is actually about 244GB in actual , rite?
but I can only see my total capacity is 230GB.
Anybody can explain?  icon_question.gif

i think the other extra goes to dell utilities/ diagnosis tool to examine ur pc as and when required.

btw, i just screwed my D partiton, my media direct only load inside windows sad.gif

try to use PCRestore (pressing F8) but failed as i already screwed the mbr...huhu

end up reformating the whole thing. now almost finish. yawn.gif

U got the bluetooh driver? I have 2 OS, but on XP sp3, there isnit any bluetooth icon or program show up in the control panel. and cant find the bluetooth driver on dell website.
by the way, XP sp3 performs really well.

for winxp, try this:
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR)
http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R161378.EXE

update us, after try.

Master Boot Record. Try this to know more about MBR.

as far as i believe, if change ur partition size, u already break ur mbr and then ur media direct wont load expressly i.e pressing media direct button will load windows instead of media direct express. then media direct will load after windows load...u loose the point of having media direct

so..think b4 u resizing ur partitionor play around with it...huhu..lesson learnt. i already lost the PCRestore etc

There are hidden partitions exist for:
1) your Media Direct installation - it allows you to open any media without booting up your laptop (by pressing Media Direct button key).
2) Dell Recovery option installation - it is the system backup if your system is totaled out or completely hosed.
3) some harddisk models have HDD system software installed

OK. I finally had time to play around with my new XPS. I do not have any problems with my HDD. It's a Western Digital 250GB 5400RPM HDD. Pretty quiet for me except for when the virus scan is running. Can hear the spindle spinning which is common. Other than that, my laptop is good. No heaty palm rest, hinge is good and no dead pixels. I can't find any fault and am really satisfied with my purchase. Only problem now I have is I can't seem to update my Vista to SP1 via windows update! sad.gif

but if system still new as not more than 14days, may try to request too.

MrLawKH, juz follow what's Chipun suggested. (our OS = Vista Home Premium 32 bits)

1. Update driver for fingerprint from www.upek.com and audio from Dell website.
2. Run Windows Update
