I bet he's just trolling for a flame war since ops are ongoing in kopitiam. That statement is just meant to provoke a reaction not a discussion.

guys, for those who have panny py800h series, what do u think of their intelligent frame creation thing? i feel that some scene is really smooth whereas some other motion is jerky lol...

btw, i hooked it up with my 4 year old dvd player via component output, dvd played looked so nice.... i wonder how real will blu ray playback look like lol...
*
So far I didn't feel any jerky motion on my py800h yet. Maybe my eye is not that sensitive to jerky motion tongue.gif

I am also using a 3 year old DVD player but I routed the video vie component cables to my AVR and then use the AVR's HDMI out to upscale the picture to my plasma TV. The PQ is so much better compared to a direct connection from the DVD player to the plasma TV.

However I did noticed that the upscale PQ of Astro is not as good as the direct S-Video connection from the astro decoder to the plasma TV. I'll have to experiment a bit more to get better PQ from Astro.

Cheers

Just got my Samsung FULLHD LCD LA40A650 set.
Ohh man I LOVE THIS SET! . Nice design, nice spec. Their Crystal Clear Panel beat all other LCD in terms of picture and colour. For Computer usage, this panel's native resolution is 1920x1080 with 1:1 pixel mapping, which makes it one of the best PC Monitor .The downside is, their 100hz technology is kinda bad, watching fast action movie with 100hz setting as "high" is a nono. The motions will become unrealistic and very animation-like. But other than that, their series6 is definitely the best compared with other LCD.  Well thats my opinion.  smile.gif

Saw the display unit priced at RM5999 in BD - pretty good price. icon_idea.gif

Not realistic to own a full HDTV now, too pricey until we consumer pays a pretty high premium. Full HD tv is going to cost you a fortune considering you need or a must to buy the expensive bluray player & its software.

We are not thinking of the full HDTV but its player too so we can see its full potential. I see no point in getting full HD if it does not have bluray source.

I am currently considering the PS3 as my source for BD. At least it can double up as a game console as well.

And you can use the PS3 as a media player too. Quite a good investment I must say.

Getting a PS3 is a healthy investment and will encourage you to spend more time at home, your HM sure will agree one. tongue.gif

lol,
spend RM10K ++ for a X-series 40" LCD tv for gaming??!?!?
if this above model cannot perform better than any other plasma or LCD tv, this is surely a no demand model.
frankly speaking, X-series only can tap off a VERY small number of buyers in the market.
motion flow 100Hz? can LCD tv really perform as motionless as plasma tv?  biggrin.gif
guys, i doubt.
*
about spending 10k for tv just for gaming? haha why not? i bought HDTVs just to play my PS3.. and ive spent alot more on my PC SPecifically for Gaming (and im %100 sure im not the only one on LYN that does this). If ur cup of tea is movie, then no point bashing others for preferring gaming more.. L2Civilize

now about x series cannot perform better than any plasma or lcd.. haha it is the best LCD tv now all round.. and very very few plasma can challenge it in ALL aspect may it be hardware, software, design, sound, connectivity (optical out on a tv)...

that maybe due to price and marketing.. nothing to do with its performance

ok.. u need some research urself.. the sony sold in asia market (300A) is made in japan and it has a 120hz motionflow. not 100hz.. as for lcd perform btr motion than plasma? outside of the kuro, there is NO plasma that can beat the x-series for in-game motion (this is from my own experience and friends who own almost any top-end models of each brand). also it comes with a built in Fan..

QUOTE(sunauto @ Aug 30 2008, 04:24 PM)
If you compare the X series with W series, the W series have a better contrast and plasma like blacks. You can do a side by side comparison and anyway, What Hi-Fi UK gave pretty good reviews for the X series.
*
the color/contrast are all subject to settings i think.. but did u see how poor the W handles fast motion though? n besides thats comparing the new W with the old X. wait till new X comes out..

That's a tough choice since HM is already using Media Center for her home entertainment stuffs smile.gif including recording of Astro program. I'll try to convince her again closer to Christmas time.

Cheers.

WHAT PV8 has dropped to RM3.8k ?? They claimed RM4,399 is promotion price up to Aug 31 vmad.gif

BTW, it is an excellent tv both for astro & movies. None other brands can challenge it at the price.
