I see many are getting the PS3 as an alternative for BD playing. Where can I get a good deal for the PS3 around Klang Valley?

Thanx

Need help on cable connection for my new TH42PY800. I connect the S-video cable in the Monitor Out of my Onkyo TX-DS575X to the S-video input on the plasma TV but I don't get any video signal at all. I tried both AV3 and AV4 S-video jack and still can't get any signal. If I use the normal video cable I can get the signal.

If I connect the S-video cable directly from the DVD player, I can get the video signal. Does anyone know what else I need to get this to work?

Thanx

According to the Manual you should set side panel to "HIGH" to counter image retention.

What you mean by "Super Wide", there is only Zoom1, Zoom2 and Zoom3, Just etc...there is no "Super Wide" selection

Added on August 19, 2008, 12:04 pmALL Panny 42PV80HM users i have a question for you, do you have the "Auto" selction under "Aspect"

The given manual does not state it too but as per pdf manual on panasonic malaysia website, there is an "Auto" aspect ???

Nevermind as per the spec. on their website it also states no Auto aspect...That must be for some other model(s).

I didn't see any "Auto" option on my 42PY800. It goes from 16:9, 4:3, Zoom 1, Zoom 2 and Zoom 3. Sometime I see also a option called "Just" but not sure what is it for.

Can someone advise me???
Ok... I've been reading a little here and there... I'm still confuse... My TV broke down and I need to buy a new TV.
My family usage behavior:
1. watches Astro 90% of the time.
2. TV on approx 12 hours a day
3. Distance from sofa is approx 10 feet. Looking for a 50" TV?

At first I decided to buy a Panny Plasma TV. Then I was advised that Plasma is hotter, use more electricity and has "reflection" due to glossy screen

Can someone help recommend which LCD TV is better for my usage?
What is the best LCD TV I can buy for under RM10,000?

I have 10 feet viewing distance also and I still think it is slightly too near for my 42" plasma TV. If you are going for 50" then you'll need to increase your viewing distance smile.gif

I turn it own the whole night and I just use the ceiling fan to cool it. So far didn't feel the "heat" at all.

I'll know if it hurt my electricity bill when I got mine later this week.

I have about 11 feet of sliding window too. Don't see any reflection from my plasma TV.

is the plasma tv near the windows? mine will be... shocking.gif

another question: hmm.gif

Panasonic 42PV8H vs 42PV80H

PV80H has SD Card slot and C.A.T.S (Contrast Automatic Tracking system). It has 3 HDMI inputs too. PV8H has 2.

--> Will the C.A.T.S be worth it to buy the PV80H instead of the lower price PV8H?

My plasma TV is about 4 feet from the windows.

Hmm, got to check out this CATS thingy on my py800.

guys, for those who have panny py800h series, what do u think of their intelligent frame creation thing? i feel that some scene is really smooth whereas some other motion is jerky lol...

btw, i hooked it up with my 4 year old dvd player via component output, dvd played looked so nice.... i wonder how real will blu ray playback look like lol...
*
So far I didn't feel any jerky motion on my py800h yet. Maybe my eye is not that sensitive to jerky motion tongue.gif

I am also using a 3 year old DVD player but I routed the video vie component cables to my AVR and then use the AVR's HDMI out to upscale the picture to my plasma TV. The PQ is so much better compared to a direct connection from the DVD player to the plasma TV.

However I did noticed that the upscale PQ of Astro is not as good as the direct S-Video connection from the astro decoder to the plasma TV. I'll have to experiment a bit more to get better PQ from Astro.

Cheers

BD.... i'm still waiting for the price to drop...currently is just too pricey to own one now ~_~....

I am currently considering the PS3 as my source for BD. At least it can double up as a game console as well.

And you can use the PS3 as a media player too. Quite a good investment I must say.
*
OK, that's another consideration.

Just got a Onkyo 805 so need some time to convince HM that PS3 is another good investmnet rclxms.gif

Getting a PS3 is a healthy investment and will encourage you to spend more time at home, your HM sure will agree one.  tongue.gif

That's a tough choice since HM is already using Media Center for her home entertainment stuffs smile.gif including recording of Astro program. I'll try to convince her again closer to Christmas time.

Cheers.
