i have decided to wait for my house to be fully renovated in terms of paints, sliding windows, blinds and my wife choice of curtain... then only decide
about buying a plasma tv or LCD tv for my hall.. i think this is a wise decision.. kena tengok lighting dulu bagaimana... for my game room ok laaa plasma sebab gelap... mesti syok... tapi budget ada untuk 1 new tv only... so will still use my old school BENQ 32 inch LCD tv for the gaming for now.. nanti upgrade laa... (ada xbox 360 and gamecube only. ps3 belum beli) thanks for all the advice from all the sifus here... |

Went to SEC to compare between LG PG20R and Pana PV80H,both pics setting to std configuration and playback BD movies Ice Age 2.Wah,there are both pics different between both of this model and of course LG prices are more cheaper than Pana.Hence provides 2yr warranty and add RM150 for another 3yrs warranty which are total 5yrs warranty.LG are more details to Pana on dark scene which are impress.
As i look at these LG features spec and i was shock about it while compare Pana spec.Hmmm.... but however my fren now had been confuse which one to purchase. |

In fact, things look best when fed at that resolution, better than at 720p. It also does a pretty good job upscaling 480i feeds. but since both plasma... maybe it does not make much difference at all. i had the same dilemma. in the end, i bought the PG20R. |

QUOTE(deathkiss @ Sep 3 2008, 11:53 AM) oops.. paiseh.. forgot to mention that i'm looking for 42" lcds.. preferably Full HD.. as for budget, it's not a certain amount so wanna ask all the sifus to recommend.. you can check out philips 42PFL7432 at best denkii checked during the weekend and it's going for RM4299, with free RM100 voucher, and philips is throwing in a small home theater set with it. the free gift is supposed to be valid till 31st Aug, but no harm asking it's a full HD set LG has a set around that price too, IIRC, check Senq for their promo |

I was comparing the panasonic pv8h and LG PG20 (both 42" plasma) and feeding the same source and i realised, the LG had better detail.
Anyway, on a reality aspect, once u buy it n put on yr living room, it doesn't matter at all as long as u enjoy yr new toy. All the while, i m into getting a LCD but ended up with plasma after consulting with friends who have bought lcd tv. All of them told me to go for plasma instead. No regret and seriously, i don't think astro is that bad on plasma but definately better than my friends sharp lcd tv. |

To All Expert,
I am planning to buy Panny 42pv8h which is around 3.8k but I am still concerning 1080p for BluRay. Right now I am not afford for the Panny FullHD model but I saw plenty of Full HD LCD panel selling at above 4k. Now really confuse if want to utilise 1080p for bluray disc should I go for LCD Full HD or Plasma HD (42pv8h) ready? Need advice tq Panny Plasma Full HD really nice but around 7-8k. I watch mostly astro, DVD . |

QUOTE(skyfcmy @ Sep 3 2008, 01:27 PM) To All Expert, It really depends on your viewing distance. To fully appreciate blu-ray on a 42" you need to be sitting below 6 feet. At 9ft+ you might as well save money and get a HD-ready cause you won't see the difference in detail.I am planning to buy Panny 42pv8h which is around 3.8k but I am still concerning 1080p for BluRay. QUOTE(skyfcmy @ Sep 3 2008, 01:27 PM) To All Expert, I own a PV80 and bought it end May. Seems like there is a bug/low mtbf part called the air board. Mine kaput few weeks ago. Called pana and they replaced it onsite. Its a known quality issue with the part and the engr said about 10% of the sets may have this problem. No issue with me just disappointed that pana can have such bad QC. I am planning to buy Panny 42pv8h which is around 3.8k but I am still concerning 1080p for BluRay. No issue with me just disappointed that pana can have such bad QC. sometimes, it due to the component manufacturer, rather than panasonic itselfbut you have 5-year warranty right? therefore it should not be a big issue since it's on this topic, my uncle who's a service agent for a electrical appliance company advice me to look for 5-year warranty when buying LCD/plasma TVs, else go with rear projections he said he had dealt with quite a few cases of LCD tv breaking down in 2-3 years of service |
