Frankly speaking, it all boils down to luck. Not many Samsung buyers got problem with it.

I'm planning to buy the Panasonic PV80. But can somebody tell me how's the picture quality when hooked up on a PC?
If PQ is bad with PC, then i'll have to go for LCD.

Dealers earn so little on the item and MAY take advantage, jack up "a bit" and say transportation costs more now.. anything goes man!.. cry.gif
Ok..not to go off topic.. icon_rolleyes.gif

I think I'll be looking into a new 42" LCD in due course.. My old 29" TV is not a electricity consumption saver lah..and elect bill is going to be more on July.
BTW, who knows what is the power consumption of 42" LCD ah?.. likely on the back label.. xxx Watts..

Here is some recommendations, http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Panasonic-TH42PX80/Settings/
Although in the end it should be something that you are comfortable with and not what the "experts" say so.

THANK YOU BRO !!
will go back n follow the advice/setting..

since petrol is up 40%..
no question price OF EVERYTHING will definitely go up..
unless u get a very honest merchant that will sell to you at 'old' price...if his stock is 'old' stock therefore still 'old' cost..unless the stock is manufactured AFTER 5 June 2008, why should the price go up ?

dont like the new price....
CHANGE THE GOVT !!!

For those who noticed judder on moving pictures on the Panasonic PV80, here's a repeat of a post I made on another forum a short while back:

".... Just came back from Harvey Norman @ the Curve. The chap who helped me test extensively was named Ronnie. Quite a knowledgeable chap.

Spent a good deal of time comparing the Samsung vs Panasonic Pv70 vs the Pioneer Kuro for displaying moving pictures, using pirated dvd as source.

I have to say that the worst of the lot is the Panasonic. The Samsung and Pioneer is pretty much equal. Apparently the Pioneer and Samsung motion processing algorithm is as good as the one used by high end philips, grundig, B&O (which I tested some 6 months ago). Unfortunately Panasonic PV70 & the new PV80 do not have this technology.

I was quite certain of buying the new Panasonic PV80 until I did this comparison. Now, have to strike Panasonic off my list.

If you are not sure what i mean, just go there and ask to test a few dvds for motion, the one easiest to see is Toy Story 2, chapter 9 I think where the camera pans right to left on a particular image. The Panasonic judders, whilst the Samsung and Pioneer (in smooth Cinema mode) will render the movement a lot smoother."

End of quote.

As an update, samsung has just released the successor to the PS42Q91H. The new plasma is called PS42A450P1.

PS42A450P1 is supposed to be an improvement over the outgoing model and is the first in the world to support 3D playback! Imagine 3D pictures and 3D gaming.

Going to check it out soon and I may just go buy one.....

samsumg Plasma produces better color saturation and accuracy , sometimes even better than Pioneer and definitely beat Panny . sammy sets also have better features and class looking design for its price.

many overlook sammy plasma mainly becoz of its black level which is a little greyish to panny and pioneer if you will to compare side to side but i tell ya , you wont feel the diffence if you watch it everyday . its still good enough

but it may have a little reflective issue with lights shining direct or a little nearby the tv set . watch it under seal door and windows and its perfect

panny plasma PV 80 are strip down model , although it still offer high value for money, especially its 5 years warranty

go buy sammy plasma and you won't have any regrets

do you also point out that LG 42PG60 is a strip down model too since this model is much cheaper than PV80 yet offer good features?

if PV80 is so bad in term of picture quality, why not people pay more for PY800? this model shouldnt have many critics ba.

if people blame for proton wira no good why not they pay more to get honda accord? biggrin.gif

Guys, what do you think is the best 32" lcd tv with DVI connectivity? I will use it for my HTPC project, mainly for viewing dvds and xvid/divx movies. Currently I'm using 29" CRT (HD capable) connected to the computer though component cable. The picture is great but it got some geometry issues.

i never said panny pv80 picture quality is bad , only sammy is better except sammy black level is slightly inferior to panny . other than the black level , almost all other aspect it beat the panny including built quality . mostly , sammy LCD or Plasma sets look classy even at entry level

LG 42PG60 is not a strip down model . infact it is quite innovative and feature rich but its black level is rather poor . the field where LG losses out is brand image bro. in all luxury products , brand image counts and matters and thats why Sony is able to push up its price and there are still buyer. however i am happy to note that LG make extra effort to built up its image and its top end model offer good value for money but that needs time for consumer confidence to build .judge it for yourself.....

no need for GFK report as in Malaysia , Panasonic brand is too famous and established and will be difficult for Samsung to make any immediate breakthrough but in the world biggest and important market , the US , i believe sammy plasma will give panny the run for its money and could be the no 1 seller for plasma by now.

samsung did not do much promotion for its plasma series as its concentration are on LCD and that could be the reason many are not aware that it make good Plasma tv .

all in , i'd still luv the panny plasma as i recommend friends and relative to buy it as it offers good value for money ,thats what malaysian luv the most . i own a sammy LCD which i am completely satisfied with and will search to a buy a new sammy plasma in the near future . panny plasma will be my second choice though
