why is it that our malaysian LCD/Plasma discussion forums are chatting so slow and unresponsive at times compare to say , singapore forums .

is it because singaporean purchasing power is greater , more brands, models and series available there ,more educated in this issue etc

or malaysian are simply too lazy to discuss or give opinion or just 'tak boleh'

come on lah malaysian

yes in singapore , whenever there's a roadshow , its dirt cheap compare to malaysia

perhaps if the tv manufacturer here lower their prices comparable to usa and singapore , it could trigger more interest here and generate more posting by members

maybe all potential buyer here should boycott tv buying for a few months and lets see if prices will drop due to rising inventory

yup the pio428 and pany pv8 and pv80 is cheap in singapore at the recent HN sales

got mine at 4400 with delivery n install. in S2. at 7.30pm on a saturday. plus pasang astro one shot.

is there any list of do's and dont's during the first hours/days of using plasma ?....contrast setting? usage period? aspect ratio? etc? any warning of things to avoid ?
*
the first 100, preferably 200 hrs , view all movies on full screen . dont view with 4:3 or 16.9 aspect . zoom the screen to full size. don't view still photos for too long . and switch channel , if you watch astro tv with channel logo on top corners for too long but i felt 2 to 3 hrs continuous should be ok

samsumg Plasma produces better color saturation and accuracy , sometimes even better than Pioneer and definitely beat Panny . sammy sets also have better features and class looking design for its price.

many overlook sammy plasma mainly becoz of its black level which is a little greyish to panny and pioneer if you will to compare side to side but i tell ya , you wont feel the diffence if you watch it everyday . its still good enough

but it may have a little reflective issue with lights shining direct or a little nearby the tv set . watch it under seal door and windows and its perfect

panny plasma PV 80 are strip down model , although it still offer high value for money, especially its 5 years warranty

go buy sammy plasma and you won't have any regrets

do you also point out that LG 42PG60 is a strip down model too since this model is much cheaper than PV80 yet offer good features?

if PV80 is so bad in term of picture quality, why not people pay more for PY800? this model shouldnt have many critics ba.

if people blame for proton wira no good why not they pay more to get honda accord?  biggrin.gif

shall see if samsung plasma tv can be the number one standing in the GfK(malaysia) report for this quarter thanks to its features.  smile.gif
note: The GfK group is one of the largest market research companies in the world...9,300 employeers working in 115 operating companies...who deliver the knowledge on markets and sectors which their clients in industry and retail need for their decisions.

i never said panny pv80 picture quality is bad , only sammy is better except sammy black level is slightly inferior to panny . other than the black level , almost all other aspect it beat the panny including built quality . mostly , sammy LCD or Plasma sets look classy even at entry level

LG 42PG60 is not a strip down model . infact it is quite innovative and feature rich but its black level is rather poor . the field where LG losses out is brand image bro. in all luxury products , brand image counts and matters and thats why Sony is able to push up its price and there are still buyer. however i am happy to note that LG make extra effort to built up its image and its top end model offer good value for money but that needs time for consumer confidence to build .judge it for yourself.....

no need for GFK report as in Malaysia , Panasonic brand is too famous and established and will be difficult for Samsung to make any immediate breakthrough but in the world biggest and important market , the US , i believe sammy plasma will give panny the run for its money and could be the no 1 seller for plasma by now.

samsung did not do much promotion for its plasma series as its concentration are on LCD and that could be the reason many are not aware that it make good Plasma tv .

all in , i'd still luv the panny plasma as i recommend friends and relative to buy it as it offers good value for money ,thats what malaysian luv the most . i own a sammy LCD which i am completely satisfied with and will search to a buy a new sammy plasma in the near future . panny plasma will be my second choice though

its last year model but offer less features than the latest model . color saturation is good but lack depth in black level.comparatively , its better than the PV 70 but not the Pv 80.

this latest plasma from samsung , feature rich in its own class is worth looking at and retail at RM 4,999 with free gift at current promotion . if you bargain hard i'm sure will be able to get some discount . i target this model when price drops further or just wait for PV 90 which probably will be release end of this year .

between plasma and lcd , i will choose plasma becoz of better color presentation and thus better PQ not to mention it looks better on our analogue Ass-tro

Every TV manufactures have their range of products to cater for all sector of the market and sony have come up with this S series for those who fancy Sony brand but are less demanding on quality and features .

Dont curse sony for making available a model series of lesser quality than all its other expensive and high end series after all , for this S series , sony is selling them cheap .

come on lah , you want sony high end series at RM 1,999 , where got logic

Hey dumb prick, who is comparing sony low end with high end? we are comparing s-series with other low end series of lcd.indeed i agree sony high end series looks good, we are just saying S-series are crap, even below 2k toshiba/samsung performs much better.and it is NOT CHEAP,can be considered the most expensive low end lcd.those who buys are for the sake of SONY branding, or never compare or do homework before purchase, or get influence by the misleading advertising or pure sohhaai.  rolleyes.gif

poor boy being hit hard . sounds like a guy with some bad experience using sony . if indeed so , why do you buy sony in the first place

dont tell us what you just said is true by your own confession .its a free market remember . for the record , i own a sammy lcd and panny plasma and very happy with it

My tip for you is the samsung LA32 450 aka series 4. if you shop around , you might get around RM 2,200 to RM 2,300 with 2 or 3 years warranty. really worth looking into

it is to me a mid range model with good features

PQ and color is fantastic .as too many people say sammy color is too rich and unreal and i say thats rubbish. just switch off the DNIE function if you find the colors to be too rich. no other brand model at this price range could beat it but dont bet its panel is S-PVA but still good .

i own a 32 R8 and often play with the remote in search for the perfect calibration and from here i realize the sammy are so full of features

the sony S series are low end model, mostly release for third world countries market .

take your pick mate

thanks for ur suggestion. Actually I prefer JVC but since the price is over my budget, i have to look for brand that offer lower price. At 1st i was planning to buy LA32A450c the cheapest that i can get is 2450. Hopefully can get it 2200, can i know where can u get the price at 2200-2300?
*
JVC ? Try the famous PJ ss2 row or kepong/low yat plaza neighbourhood or even some of this forum poster boy here

i know samsung have promotion now , go have some good time bargaining or wait for merdeka month sales if you can tahan to wait that long .

actually RM 2400 should be a good buy with 2 or better still 3 years warranty . some sellers give 1st year all risk insurance warranty which mean if you dont like the set you've bought , you can bang it on the floor and still may get a replacement set . may save you some energy cursing the poor guy everytime you look at it

May i know what is the shop name at PJ ss2 row?
"1st year all risk insurance warranty " got this type of warranty ??? but i'm not aware of it. normally the seller give me only 1 yr normal warranty only.
*
as a lowyat forum loyalist , i would recommend go check with the forum sellers first , a few of them here sell reasonably good price. go to garage sales or display card/monitor subforums

remember to bargain

BTW, any new owner of Pana TY800H ? Comments/Input please.

Thanks !

Panny 800 series sure to be good lah. the only issue is the price only . at this moment , if the 42'' is at 5.5 to 6 K at 5 years warranty , than would say its worth buying

u are lucky because u havnt paid for the py700, if u make comparison betweem the 700 and 800, there are huge differences especially on picture quality relaying on the conrast,if u make side by side comparison, most u ll see
the py700's colour is more dull due to it's anti-glare panel problem while py800 comes with 24p playback (for ur future use on blu ray stuff), better sound system and 480hz for the 3d playback (not advisable to use it all the time but at least something new), so u wont be regret paying the additional rm1000....
speaking of samsung warranty, pls be cautious on their black and white as there was once of their 5 years warranty for certain promotion do not cover for the panel repair, pls double check the black and white b4 being caught by the sweet mouth of salesperson...

Today's star paper advertisement says 3 years manufacturer warranty for samsung LCD

really good buy now with current promo

to me sammy is the king of LCD now , even better than sony , unless sony is willing to drop prices for their high end series model
