Dr. Woo is never my choice. I have enough of protein during 2 years in Biochemistry. And I have no interest at all in protein purification. Lol.

QUOTE(aki_067 @ Jul 28 2008, 06:57 PM) it was another UTAR-electricity-cut-off DAY again.....ahahaha...class was cancelled and so I followed along my coursemates to meet the lecturers. yea..i heard some students were trapped in the lift today. why don't they have a emergency supply? today i have met: Dr. Chew (again): jenzl, i think dr.chew is fed up with answering us so many times so she reacted like that to u...actually she is good. or maybe bcoz she taught us b4. she will be leaving to kampar mid-dec so her fyp will surely be finished within 2 mths...it will be fast. All our senior has done her exp, 2 batches of them and the protocols are all prepared. No worries!!!! Dr. Sit: His exp is easy to conduct, cheap material ( your choice of plant). no equipment involve, bacteria culture, and he said student with moderate speed can finish the exp in a month's time....yea! sounds great rite? Dr.Woo: for her exp, u gotta come out with your methods, she is not providing that to you. gotta read up from journals. to those who dun have initiative to search for info and independent enuff, prepare to die la...hehe my 1st choice is still DR.anthony.....i hope i get his project!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck to all of u too^^ LOL...i guess you are right aki....sometimes lecturers do get tired when students approach them again and again...hehe...anyways..she told me she was busy...having a class in 15 mins time. regarding dr. sit...haha..to me it's pretty difficult because he wants a unique plant which is not widely researched on. but im sure he'll have a back-up plant in case the students are facing difficulties This post has been edited by jenzl: Jul 28 2008, 10:47 PM |

QUOTE(aki_067 @ Jul 28 2008, 07:47 PM) true!!!! Seriously, I have been taught by her for 3 sems. Hence, I don't want to complain anymore. She is a very knowledgeable lecturer, but her teaching method sucks. Haha. But you can always learn a lot from her when you interact with her in groups or individually. I have personally consulted her a few times on some chapters I dont understand, and she is willing to explain it detaily in a very friendly manner. with the way how dr.woo teaches..... it's hard to find students who likes protein purification.......... Taking Canadian Pre-U (CPU) 2nd semester now. Intend to take up Chemical Engineering next year. Need to hear TRUE comments about engineering course at UTAR; eg. facilities, lecturers' attitude, students' mentality, etc.
Hope to hear from current students of FES. No childish & meaningless bashing, please. Thanks. |

(1) Very expensive ; I rather save money for Master degree in oversea, (2) their 1st yr subjects are sort of basic and fundamental, just like the foundation program before we proceed to 2nd yr. My neighbor is having 1st yr engineering there, his comment: very dull & boring. He is eagerly looking forward to 2nd yr. (sound wasting time?) Thanks for feedback. |

" I rather save money for postgraduate". But now, I regretted my choice. To be honest, going oversea for your undergraduate is the best choice as you be able to study in oversea atleast 3 - 4 years . Through this time, you will pretty much get used to the new environment and in the mean time you can enjoy student life in oversea as undergraduate for the first two years will not be as hectic as postgraduate . Furthermore, you have opportunity to work there during summer break and eventually gain enuff points to apply for PR ... You cant do that when you are doing master in oversea which is only 1 -2 years ... seriously , .. it is better to go oversea for undergraduate ... +_+ I realyl regretted now haiz .. I save so much for my degree but now I do not know what kind of master do i want to take in oversea. .. = = such a predicament ... Seriously dude, if you are financial capable, think about studying oversea. You will get more exposure over there and learn to be independent. If you are not keen on Monash, think of other uni that accept CPU. Its quite a waste since you have did CPU but choose to stay and do your degree locally. And since its Engineering, why wanna do Master ? I heard its relatively the same between Degree and Master in Engineering. I'm not sure since I'm from the Bioscience stream. Australia Monash has better reputation but its Sunway campus is only 10 years old, my friend told me Sunway Monash is famous for the business study. Utar is 6 years old, no idea how good/bad it is. Just found out from an uncle who is in the education field, he said many engineers (both local & overseas graduates) switch to banking, business, sales/marketing, education and some even open own restaurants after few years in the engineering job. Amazingly, with engineering background, these people do well in their new venture. |

Why UTAR's Bachelor degree of Accounting is only 3 years? Many uni no matter local or private already updated to 4 yrs. One thing very strange, still got a lot ppl chosen UTAR. The reputation is recognized and better than others but when heading out for work, the student will found hard to survive.
