Hi all bros, finally I am one of the family member of sammy i780. I just bought it yesterday. RM1799 with 12 months 0% installment come with 4gb memory card, and 2 batteries. Additional RM125 for Samsung wep210 Bluetooth handfree, 1 rubber pouch and 1 leather pouch. Software can be update anytime i go back to the shop.

This is a great phone, very easy to use when for typing but need some time to practice. Overall I would say it is a good buy.

I will post the pic later on. Coz i am still busy testing the phone tongue.gif

I do believe during PC Fair the price is alot cheaper. Previous PC Fair the price was RM1699 with standard accessories. ANyway, welcomm to the i780 group. Try install NavNGo iGO8 GPS navigator. It's way better than Garmin/MapKing.

u need to launch PortSplitter/GPSGate first and set Com8 and Com6 port in it. i dislike MapKing due to the hassle to use PortSplitter. try google to see the setting of Mapking for i780. but if u can get urself NavNGo iGO8, i'm sure u will dump MapKing.

Initial plan is HTC diamond but reconsider about few issue i think sammy i780 more like a business phone so I choose it. Now I am waiting for the official 6.1 rom. When it is out I will bring over my sammy to upgrade. Cheers !

I used GPSGate on my old ipaq..
There are some issues with it. One of the most annoying is it changed my date to a past date everytime after using it. For my i780 I dont want to use GPSGate anymore so I cant install Mapking. Besides, Mapking does not display properly on my screen..

If you search around, I'm sure you'll find some alternatives.. brows.gif Or if you have budget, do like bro Masculine.. get Garmin Samsung Navigator from Garmin website.

Getting the software (MapKing, Garmin Mobile XT or iGO8) is the stage one to use GPS.

The next stage is to get the latest map for Malaysia, Singapore, etc.

You can install the software and test the GPS chip is working or not. But to fully utilise the GPS voice navigator, u need a decent map.

Just to inform that, each software will have its own map format. MapKing map data cannot be used by Garmin or iGO8. From my point of view, what I can suggest is you try Garmin first as the software is easy to get (trial or purchase) and the map can be obtained for free from Malsingmap website/forum.

Welcome to Sammy i780 family. I just got mine last Sunday. It is my 1st ever PDA so I am a noobie as well. But the problem you encounter I manage to solve it. I hope I am giving the right information. If something wrong please let me know I will do correction.

Now you have Mapking in ur sammy. I think you still need a 3rd party software call Port Splitter to enable your Mapking. You can download it for free at http://www.gpsmeter.com

After that you need to google it for the setting. If you can't find it. Please do PM me. I will try my best to help

theme i think currently for the official theme u can download it from samsung web site becoz of the screen resolution 320x320 at the moment is really hard to find a suitable one unless you know how to do install the theme through 3rd party software like spb mobile shell 2.1 and etc.. I been searching around but too bad try and error so many times but still can't fit the problem. Now I just hope samsung can launch their 6.1 rom asap so that we can flash it tongue.gif
