You are right, rx-v3900, same range with Z-11, the price would not be Rm 5k plus, unless ' tikus stuff ' tongue.gif

i think RX-V1900 can get for around RM4.1k
there is also a difference between list price (the price you see on the shops) and the discount price.

the best is to ask around in this forum.
Most people can quote a very fair price for you.
Then u take that price to shop and say something like...
RX-V1800, do you have stock for this? should be around RMXXXX right?

Then you ask, how much for RX-V3900?
Then once he knows you know the prices, he will give you a good price.

hi, yea i went google'd the issue a little, a found out most AVR manufacturer removed S-Vid terminals in their new AVRs...dun understand why..

anyways, i would like to know, with respect to our Astro decoder, what if we connect the S-Vid from Astro decoder to TV directly and the audio out to AVR, can that work too?

If ur tv is above 480p, such as 720p or 1080p...chances to get better PQ will be connect s-video to avr (upconverting process).

i'd be using a FHD plasma tv...and most likely will buy the V665 at the KLIAV show...so, if for my case. which connection would be better?

1) S-video out from Astro decoder to TV, Audio L-R out to AVR (phono 2RCA cable)
2) Composite cable out from Astro decoder to AVR, Audio L-R out to AVR (phono 2RCA cable)

AVR to TV using HDMI

thanks!

U can try both options and let ur eyes to decide.

In this case, u r testing which upconvert processor are stronger, TV or AVR. wink.gif

Actually, where would be a good place to buy Yammy receivers? My previous 2 (361 & 663) were purchased from Legend. Seeing how outstanding their reputation is at the current moment, I wouldn't dare to purchase anything from them now (to be fair, I have no problems with the previous 2 purchase).

Oh.. and how much would a 2nd 663 fetch? My colleague wants to buy mine.

TBM @ Bangsar Village? Hmm.. I've been there so many times and I was not aware that they sell Yamaha receivers. Thought they only sell LCDs and Plasmas. And Micheal is the salesman or manager?
Thanks!

yea bro, i knw price is expensive for the 665, but dun think hv much choice...i wud love to hv the 863 instead cos it has everything i want..but unfortunately, its being replaced by newer model and most important, no black color available.

that's why i wait for KLIAV...i'm hoping to get good deals there. its now price at 2.6k before discount right? if can get around 2k ok la...within budget smile.gif

btw htkaki, any wind if there'll be a 50in panny S series?

I have never used Onkyo and Denon before other than audition, so I can't say Yammy is better but so far I like it other than I hope it has 2 HDMI out instead of 1 for the moment... Using HDMI splitter has more wire and sometime does not work the way I want....

Added on June 24, 2009, 10:00 amI'm using mix of Yamaha (Front and Surrond), JBL (Front), Heco (Center), Cerwin Vega (sub) and cap ayam (rear center)... Will do the upgrade on speakers when budget is allowed....
