Hi, I'm just starting up my setup - and have already bought 5 B&W M-1s for my 18' X 16' living room. I haven't bought AVR or subwoofer yet, will probably get a CHT-10Q (condo, so i think 10Q should be ok) Am thinking between RX-V863 or Marantz 50031. usage Music / Movies - 50% 50% Although movies are more important for me especially dialogue and then of course explosion sounds 2. Upscaling to 1080 is also important 3. Compatability/convenience with Harmony Remote - also need to consider but not very important. What do you guys think? RX-V863 or Marantz 5003I suppose price is about the same right

QUOTE(mpyw @ Mar 6 2009, 12:24 PM) the SR5003 would sound better for music, for movies, a lil soft on LFE but can be tweaked....I hv done a lil tweaking on my SR6003 and it's much better now. and mind you, the Yamaha x63 series does not pass BTB/WTW, so the PQ details on black scene might not be as good as the Marantz the Yammy's upscale quality is a tag better than the Maranzt (compared to my old RX-V861) Compatibility with the Harmony should not be any problem for both ( I am using URC RF20) Hi, i was initially leaning towards the yamaha because it is supposedly more punchy for action movies and more bass kind of music ... but the BTB/WTW would be a very genuine concern ... is it really bad? and would the 5003 be better?

Hi,
Am looking at the product bulletin for both the RX-V863 and the RX-V1065 Some of the differences i've noted are:
1065 has USb port in front 1 extra HDMI port GUI on-screen display wit album art
don't notice any other differences.
In this case, i think i'll just pick up the 863. some have claimed that the 863 is running out of stock - is this true? Also, price range should be around RM2.6-2.7k?

Hey guys, i heard the Yamaha RX-Vx65 series doesn't allow you to assign audio inputs i.e. if you have multiple component video in + optical digital audio - you cannot put them together? i'm not very sure on this - anyone heard about this?
also, anyone know the best price for RX-V1065 at the moment?

i think RX-V1900 can get for around RM4.1k there is also a difference between list price (the price you see on the shops) and the discount price.
the best is to ask around in this forum. Most people can quote a very fair price for you. Then u take that price to shop and say something like... RX-V1800, do you have stock for this? should be around RMXXXX right?
Then you ask, how much for RX-V3900? Then once he knows you know the prices, he will give you a good price.
