QUOTE(sunauto @ May 18 2008, 06:19 PM) I'm currently using 7.1 and yeah, I get what you mean, I have a bunch of wires coming from the amp and up the ceiling. Very messy indeed but no choice, just wished that one day we can have wireless rear speakers using bluetooth, that will be easier. I saw some wireless rear speakers but performance is bad.... Most people will hide their cables below the carpet... Added on May 19, 2008, 8:32 am QUOTE(yfyap69 @ May 18 2008, 09:44 PM) You are right. It's extremely messy. I just completed my surround wiring project. I have to run the 4 wires from the front to the back thru the plaster ceiling. Then need to drill the wall to hide the wire. All the dust flying everywhere. Need to hire 2 maids to clean up the whole house. So a word of advise for those renovating your house. Make sure get the wiring done first before you move in. Just make sure u buy a good quality cables....coz..it is not easy to change it after that. This post has been edited by piscesguy: May 19 2008, 08:32 AM |

QUOTE(daryl.k @ Jun 22 2009, 05:36 PM) hi, yea i went google'd the issue a little, a found out most AVR manufacturer removed S-Vid terminals in their new AVRs...dun understand why.. If ur tv is above 480p, such as 720p or 1080p...chances to get better PQ will be connect s-video to avr (upconverting process).anyways, i would like to know, with respect to our Astro decoder, what if we connect the S-Vid from Astro decoder to TV directly and the audio out to AVR, can that work too? |

QUOTE(daryl.k @ Jun 22 2009, 10:54 PM) i'd be using a FHD plasma tv...and most likely will buy the V665 at the KLIAV show...so, if for my case. which connection would be better? U can try both options and let ur eyes to decide.1) S-video out from Astro decoder to TV, Audio L-R out to AVR (phono 2RCA cable) 2) Composite cable out from Astro decoder to AVR, Audio L-R out to AVR (phono 2RCA cable) AVR to TV using HDMI thanks! In this case, u r testing which upconvert processor are stronger, TV or AVR. |

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jun 23 2009, 10:36 AM) Actually, where would be a good place to buy Yammy receivers? My previous 2 (361 & 663) were purchased from Legend. Seeing how outstanding their reputation is at the current moment, I wouldn't dare to purchase anything from them now (to be fair, I have no problems with the previous 2 purchase). Wait for the coming av fair... Oh.. and how much would a 2nd 663 fetch? My colleague wants to buy mine. |

QUOTE(fourzee @ Jun 29 2009, 02:02 PM) i recently been having problem with my yamaha rx-v663. Its been shutting off on me when i have the volume high, around -30db. When i turn it back on, it says check speaker wires so i redid all the speaker wires and it still happens. Im using a 5.1 system with Epos m12.2 front speakers and Epos M8 centre speaker. I was wondering if its because of too much power usage of something like that. I have also check the impendence which is set at 8 Ohm and the receiver gets hot to the touch after it shuts down. If some one has a similar problem or any suggestion, please help. Don't know about others...but -30db is not loud for my case..usually my listening volume is -10db to -15db for movies and -25db for music.I think ur amp not enough power to drive ur speakers la.. |
