Didn't managed to get the price down..LOL. Dunno what made me buy it.. I guess I was bored sick while installing those damn software in UMMC Server room.
Anyway, please tell me if I doing this correctly. In my PS3, I go into BD settings and set it to Linear PCM. While playing the movie, the amp says PCM but the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD indicators do not lit up. If I look at the info on the PS3, it does show Dolby True HD.. Thanks!! BTW, the remote control is so butt ugly. Its so FAT!! This post has been edited by welwitchia: Apr 17 2008, 08:03 PM |

^ Hmm.. ok thanks.. so I guess with the PS3, we'll never get to see the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD indicators light up on the amp itself.

^ That's the bad part. My speaker sucks donkey A$$
Oh well, if u wanna know, Its the JBL SCS200.5 Bought it last year and was never happy with it. Somehow with this Yammy 663, the bass is severely lacking. Please don't ask me to upgrade my speakers for now. That'll have to wait much longer. |

I suggest u don't buy from that retailer. I hate it when ppl try to beat around the bush. |

Argghh.. already said not now
Tomorrow buy 4D. If kena, I'll throw the JBL into Klang river. QUOTE(htkaki @ Apr 17 2008, 10:32 PM) welwitchia, the JBL SCS200.5 is a tad too small. It's time for you to upgrade your speakers system. |

Those with the v663, have u ever got the receiver to display Dolby True-HD or DTS-MA?
The reason I'm asking is because I've gotten myself a Dvico 6500A and when I play a file with HD audio, all the receiver ever shows is "STRAIGHT" with either the DTS-MA or Dolby True-HD logo lit up on the left. A simple search on Google seems to confirm the fact that the 663 will always display "STRAIGHT" when decoding HD audio.. I know its frivolous but displaying STRAIGHT sucks donkey a$$! |

Err.. the 663 only has one line of text right..so it can't display the HD Audio codec "below" it
QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 2 2009, 09:32 AM) Bro, straight is whereby Yammy did not apply any DSP processing on it lah. The HD Audio codec is being displayed right below it LoonGeek, when your 663 decodes the DTS-MAA or TRUE-HD, what does it display on the front? "STRAIGHT" or "DOLBY TRUEHD"? (I'm not referring to the small little logos/text on the left side of the display"Thx guys! BTW, look at the comments on this youtube video, they seem to verify what I've said.. I hope they're wrong too. LOL! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cdxUkfK2Os QUOTE(LoonGeek @ Jun 2 2009, 09:32 AM) I dunno bout Dvico, but have tried a Panasonic DMP30, and Sony 350 model Bluray player, when playing original Bluray source, in the beginning never come out the bluray decoding format icon in the 663amplifier, becoz the blu ray decode the audio signal and let the 663 amplifier to amplify the sound only. This post has been edited by welwitchia: Jun 2 2009, 10:06 AMTo solve this, i have to set the Panasonic bluray to STRAIGHT and Sony bluray to DIRECT, in order to let the 663 receiver to decode the bluray format - DTS MA or Dolby TRUE HD. |

Nope, PS3 decodes the HD audio internally and sends them over to the receiver as PCM...so with a PS3, u will never get the magic words to appear on the receiver.

^ Nope..why did u think so many PS3 owners wanna buy a dedicated Blu-ray player?
Apparently, the dedicated players gives better PQ too..then again, I don't have that many Blu-rays so I can't justify buying one now. |

I'm just curious, how much is the RXV-1900 going for currently and where would be a good place to shop for Yammy receivers? (besides Legend
I might as well ask this too : I'm currently using a 663. If I upgrade to a 1900, what sort of "difference" can I expect considering all the rest of the components remain the same. Before u ask, I don't have nice speakers, its just some JBL HTiB speakers which I also intend to upgrade. Some of the forums that I've been reading says the 1900 is supposed to sound better "musically".. what exactly does that mean? More pleasant sounding? Thx!
