i plan to get a laptop which cost rm 2000 to rm 2500

wat is the best choice between this 2 for overall laptop usage including light gaming and software like word and excel and business accounting software....

i play with my friends turion x2 1.6..it really slow even compare to core duo and not even core 2 duo yet

acer Turion X2 2.0 with nvidia 7000 integrated graphic card cost rm 2000

acer core 2 duo 1.8 with normal gma intergrated which others call it X3100 cost rm 2400

both same spec only the cpu and intergrated graphic card is different

so which one is best bang for bucks for everything.

what is the cons of amd..

dun need to tell what is the pro and cons for intel as i already knew it..just need to know the cons for amd turion x2. i only know amd turion is slow compared to core 2 duo

if compare to core duo? is turion x2 still slower?

is turion x2 runs hotter?coz i will on the laptop 24/7

Can recommend me a few gaming notebooks? Budget around 5-7k. Portability is not an issue, I prefer a huge screen, design doesn't matter, I prefer functionality. Any brand will do. Thanks.

I want the best performance I can get for my money.

!!new guy alert!!

hi everyone

ok i've done a bit of homework but i still need help. i'm looking to buy a laptop but i have a problem.. there's a RM2k-2.5k budget. preferences are:

14-15"
>1.8hz cpu
1gb ram
120gb hdd
no OS

and is asking for 128mb graphics too much? i know you can get an aspire 4250 (with 256mb graphics) for that price but asser is really towards the bottom of my list (along with benq). i'm considering a presario F732AU (does it come with 5 in 1 card reader and nc?) or an inspiron 1420, which comes in pink (don't ask). any recommendations or suggestions as to which would be a better choice?

feedback very much appreciated!

@yeelean83: dell inspiron 1720. hugearse screen, customisable and comes in pink if you like. or yellow,or green. problems are it's heavy and it might be difficult to get a case for the monster
@Soulsareworthless: alienware. for the bragging rights (which is most important) if not the best choice

Looking to buy a laptop soon. Prefer Compaq V3658tu OR V3791tu. Is this 2 models good enough? Coz budget tight. doh.gif

I don't understand what means OS? hmm.gif

I heard some people say it's hard to find all drivers complete for compaq? No come with drivers when buy? What use for driver?

AMD & Dual Core which is better & long lasting?

Window XP & Window Vista which is good to use? Must use original genuine software? What will happen if use pirates? Will include the software installation when buying?

Pls advice!! TQ...TQ... notworthy.gif

Hi,

I'm looking to get a notebook that:

- has a large screen with clear, crisp image and bright colours (cos I do graphics, so this is the most important thing for me)

- has at least 1.8ghz processor, 1-2g RAM, dedicated graphics card, 120G hard drive
- is reliable and wont start breaking down too soon
- has acceptable tech support in Australia.
- around 4k

So far I'm interested in the Asus z53, Dell Inspiron 1520 and Acer Aspire 5920G. The Acer screen is really nice...bright rich colours.. but I'm a bit wary of Acer after reading the threads here.

Would love feedback on the above ...or on other models which may be suitable.

Thanks! smile.gif

P.S. How much are the ASUS M51SN and the HP Pavilion DV6715TX mentioned above...? I guess they cost a bomb.

Hi All,

Been surfing for quite some time/years..finally decided to register myself tongue.gif

I'm currently planning to buy a lappie with the following criteria:-

1. Intel C2D
2. HDD >160Gb
3. Screen size doesn't matter
4. Sound/Speaker = thumbup.gif
5. RAM >1Gb (max 4Gb)
6. VGA...hmm this is the biggest problem
Most of the lappie comes with Intel's X3100, but after some long searching, majority says it totally useless for 3D gaming purposes. Hoping to find any with NVidia/ATi.

Purpose for it is mainly paperwork(Excel), Wi-Fi surfing, and Gaming(e.g. Fifa07, C&C TW, NFSU).

Budget <3.5k (preferably around 2.8k-3.2k)
Brands (ASUS, Lenovo, HP/Compaq, & Dell as last choice among these)

So far, I've fixed myself to Compaq's V3758...until I found out that the X3100 graphics can't really support games like Fifa07.

Hope you guys can help. BTW I'm from Penang....even less choice to browse at the shops.
Thanks.

In your case... cpu doesn't matter as long as its dual core (serious)
HDD > 160GB like 250GB are disproportionately more expensive. Better to use an external drive.
RAM > 2GB. 1GB is not enough, 4GB is too much now. Summore ram prices increased lately.
VGA > Even for relatively light game. Nothing less than a 8400M GS. Video ram not important. Integrated graphics sucks regardless.

Personally... brand doesn't matter. Just the support and the look.
