The movie was slightly uneven. There were great parts (The river scene, the exchange between Bilbo and Smaug) and then there were very hammy cheesy ones. The weakest link however, proved to be Thorin himself. He's not the wise nor fearless leader that we all knew from the first movie. he's a little more conflicted this time around. And I hate to say this, but suddenly looking out of place.
Ah the Atmos Experience.
You know what's funny? I thought I was greeted with the Dolby Atmos demo, but NO. It had to be... THE THX DEMO. Which I thought was very awkward and funny.
And then came the demo.
For the first time, I can hear sounds above me. The audio demo was fantastic. A simple setting in the jungles, and the sounds of birds chirping (ABOVE ME. ABOVE ME), the winds brushing around, the whole experience is no doubt a lovely one.
But when it came to the use of the movies, some scenes stand out more than the rest. The beginning rain scene, the river scene (again) the Mirkwood forest scene, those were the true standouts. But I think I love the dialogue scenes a whole lot more. Whispers are a little closer to lifelikeness, while echoes in the halls of Erebor were a soft delight.
Don't worry about the money. If you have the chance, go Atmos.
As for HFR 3D, still stunning, and the river scene wins entirely. ENTIRELY.
Although, I have to say, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but did I just notice 2 frame rate dips in the movie? Because, i'm pretty sure I did. (The one wear Orcs was running along the river and another one closer to the end)
i was just saying to my friend yesterday, "it'd be cool if we can see who the hell is the necromancer..."

it will clash wif first LOTR of Gandalf discovery of the One Ring where he had no clue wut it could be. He rod off to Gondor ancient libraries to look for old books searching for clues of wut 'my precious' cud it be related to. If he had encountered a visible Sauron in the Hobbit, he wouldnt haf to guess wut 'my precious' rly means.

For the first time.......
I was watching the Atmos version too last night, luckily they already fix the problem, Dolby Atmos is simply amazing, the surround effect fill up the theatre with extra punch, it actually make u less aware the existence of surround speaker around ( & above) you, bcoz it's so damn seamless. Definitely worth the extra money to experience it.
the Atmos intro clips before the show really a good demo for showcase the accurate positioning of the system :
BTW. why the spider & Smaug talk like Gollum ?

I seat in the middle center, best position to enjoy surround sound I watch 3D version so it's RM 19.
This is also the first time I watch HFR in cinema, surprisingly I find it nothing special, bcoz when I watch 3D bluray at home I always switch on the motion flow function on my TV, it have the same smoothness effect

He knows of Sauron.... he just did not link Sauron to the Ring... As Gandalf himself said: There are many magical Rings (he needed the test to prove it, that's only stated through the accounts of Isildur).

Hahaha, wow. This is darker and more serious than the first movie. It's also entirely empty and vapid.
This is possibly the most boring film I've seen at the cinema this year. It takes an excruciating 2 hours for Smaug to even appear, and when he does he doesn't seem to do much except go on a repetitious hide-and-seek with the dwarfs while spouting generic one-liners (voiced by try-hard Cumberbatch, who feels like a poor man's Hugo Weaving to me). Just when it appears to get exciting, it ends. A dreadful movie.
Top marks for the 48fps presentation again (I hope more films get this treatment soon), but it's from a strictly technical perspective. The movie itself has little or no merits.
lots of unnecessary scene just to make the movie longer
overrated movie
too many repetitive action sequence(legolas especially)
dragon scene macam tak payah pun takpe
peter jackson milking money with hobbit
1.5/5 from me.
I watched it at GSC OU 2D Atmos, and as usual The gsc people is so f***ed up that the atmos is screwed once again and have to play using normal 2D instead. Have to wait 15 minutes, plus trailer showing without visual, when there is it lags. Really f***ed up experience.
just watched this movie...the story quite good but draggy especially on dragon scene....and i didnt really like the ending...make me said "wtf end already???!!"
