Certain showtimes for GSC 1U Hall 3 are for HFR I believe. Go look at the e-payment listing, sort by movie, choose HFR+Atmos.

Does TGV IMAX have HFR? No point watching if there isn't HFR.

I saw it in IMAX 3D but I don't quite know how to differentiate if it's HFR or not. The visuals are sharp but depth of the 3D was only as good as the films that are converted to 3D in post production.

It is very possible that GSC 1U's hall 3 could cater to HFR since the Atmos was just installed there. The hall seemed brand new, as though it's just renovated.

TGV IMAX only shows normal 3D. No HFR.

If the screen at GSC 1U Hall 3 is as big as IMAX then I suppose GSC 1U is the place to go.

watch it in 2D last night
two words: SUPER AWESOME!!!

enjoyed the Smaug part the most, that's the part gonna keep you on the edge of you seats

but... but... the ending is really really anti-climax, a cliff hanger ending panning for part3
you can hear the whole hall cursing"what the!?" "huh!!" "WTF?" "HEEEY!!" laugh.gif

anyway.... did you notice

HFR is very similar to high definition sports/news broadcasts/filmed inside studio material.
Images tend to be perceived as moving slightly faster - the benefit is when the image pans, there is no motion blurring. The drawback is - it looks like high definition sports/news broadcasts in dialogue scenes.

I'm surprised, as The Hobbit was filmed with 3D cameras.

Dolby Atmos would be great to try out..

Just finished the movie.

After some shouting and booing, staff with walkie talkies informed whoever in projector room about the unrest. Finally, movie started without issue... what the heck were they testing before that?!? Stupid., end up no trailers etc.

Even got calibration pattern... major fail beginning.

HFR was normal like tgv experience. Not even sure Atmos was in action.... like no difference. Not surprised they screw that up too. Some scenes have nice surround effects eg forest, rain... but I can't say if its due to atmos

Haha I was in the same hall as you just now.

Maybe they were calibrating the Atmos during those 30 minutes and when that guy with the walkie talkie informed the projector people they decided to go ahead without the Atmos doh.gif The surround sound effects that we got was pretty normal, IMAX TGV 1U is miles better.

Agree with you, they have plenty of time to do it, the show starts at 12.00, why must do it at last minute.

Any one else catching the movie at GSC Atmos later? Make sure to give us your feedback.

of cos not bro
thats why i'm just hoping

the only reason i got so impressed by LOTR is because of the epic war scene in part II and part III.
thats why i would say i'm rather disappointed with The Hobbits so far

Anyway, i hope in the third installment, the stone will re-assemble dwarfs from all 7 groups and they will have a all out war with the orcs
which i predict thats how the story line will be as well.

The dwarfs will win and hence in LOTR Saruman and Sauron will create the Uruk-Hai as the orcs are not strong enough

And give us your feedback about the Atmos, hope they'll get it right for your screening.
