Hi there. I want to ask a few question for UQ student here. Im thinking of going to UQ to study Economics degree in UQ in 2010. Is the teachings there good and is 300 to 400k enough for whole 3 years study there? Including working during holidays. Thanks in advance..

i just check with bank customer support.
if a bank atm card with PLUS or cirrus sign/logo behind it , it is eligble to withdraw money from oversea atm, which also have the PLUS/Cirrus logo. PLUS / Cirrus = Visa / Master, if we can withdrwa money with credit card in oversea atm, so do the bank atm card. FYI, malaysian local bank like public, cimb ,alliance, doesn't support this kind of service except maybank. Alternatively, try UOB, HSCB/ Citibank , foreign bank had more branches overseas Added on August 26, 2008, 11:17 pmso my earlier question is answered, i can use maybank atm card to receive money from my parents. anyway thank you for all the suggestion This post has been edited by kayexh: Aug 26 2008, 11:17 PM |

withdrawals via international plus/cirrus is limited to the atm's limit, so is useful for emergencies only, and there is a significant charge.......use it as a back up.....
you are advised to nevertheless keep a buffer of funds, and transfer large amounts (like your fees) via drafts......... |

QUOTE(limeuu @ Aug 26 2008, 09:54 PM) in emergency, use tt, but be prepared to pay, at both ends...... TT for my bank was 1%(0.5% at both side) of total amount of transfers. Using St. George now, soon to be merge with Westpac.bank draft will take 1 week to reach by registered post, and then 3 working days to clear...... but really, you should manage your finances such that 'emergencies' do not happen.......if you wait till your last dollar before asking your parent for money, that is bad management....... Thanks in advance.. 2010? man my base fees will rise also. my engineering now is $20600 per year, next year will be $23000, more than 10% increases for new students next batch. You might want to consider honours for Economics(extra 1 year after your 3 years degrees) in your budget.QUOTE(Riddhy @ Aug 27 2008, 03:10 PM) by doing diploma in AU what advantages can i get if i choose i will not do Bachelors degree? can i get the same job after completing diploma that a graduate will get from bachelors degree in AU or NZ or Canada? if not whAats the difference? where? in aussie or malaysia? 1st can you get a PR if you want to work full-time in australia by using your diploma? What job you want will depend upon the job requirements, some job need bachelor some need diploma. |

QUOTE(kayexh @ Aug 26 2008, 11:15 PM) i just check with bank customer support. I dont think thats a good idea because when you get money from your parents in Malaysia, you will be getting about 10-15k AUD.Dont think you'll be carrying around that much money.Fees for each semester will cost you 8 to 10k.if a bank atm card with PLUS or cirrus sign/logo behind it , it is eligble to withdraw money from oversea atm, which also have the PLUS/Cirrus logo. It would be great for emergency use. |
