QUT's Faculty of Information Technology is currently undergoing some restructuring. There will be changes, and you will probably be in a different course structure to me when you enter in 2009.

you plan to go back msia? might as well just study in msia.

dont come better still; why trouble yourself unless you have huge amount of financial backup.

the fees for 2009 is alrdy in hand to be review by education ministry n they are planning to charge more; just calculate the long run for the fees.

Not any better in Brisbane. Mornings are freezing, but come 11am and its like summer all over again. I'm actually sweating as I walk around campus. Then when I cycle back at 6pm the wind blows away all the heat. I don't know about you, but my nose is killing me.

If you want to do anything related to IT/CS/SE, there is no such thing as "not recognized at malaysia". This is not the medical field. Generally, if you graduate from a university with a IT/CS/SE qualification, most employers will look at the subjects you did, not which uni you came from, and there is no regulatory body (not in Malaysia at least) that deals with IT/CS/SE qualifications.

Okay, the name of the university does influence a bit, but personally if you want to come to Australia to study, the 2nd tier universities (Australian Technology Network) is as low as you go, unless you're doing something weird like Artistic and exterior design (don't ask me what that is, I still can't understand what people do in Speech therapy), which then maybe I'll consider Griffith.

My advice? Generally look at the Go8 uni's, then look at the ATN uni's. For you hihihehe, some uni's with established IT/CS/SE programs include UQ, QUT, RMIT, UNSW, Adelaide etc.

There is nothing wrong in going back to Malaysia after ones studies. I only wish the MARA scholars will do that.

That said through, while in the old days you were expected to go back after you finished your studies, today more often than not people stay back. I have to agree with KVReninem and the others: if you just want a IT/CS/SE degree, and you wish to go back to Malaysia, there are cheaper alternatives in Malaysia, with about the same quality.

Let me just make this clear: anyone thinking about going to Australia/New Zealand to study must allocate AT LEAST RM56,000 a year JUST FOR FEES. A 3 year course will see at least RM167,000 needed, taking into account annual increase in fees. And I'm haven't started talking about cost of living either.
