ill be going to aus on the 15th flight and everythign else all confirmed edi tongue.gif
going for unimelb 2nd intake, orientation on 21st.... kinda nervous XD

btw, for my laptop, and other electrical items, ive been told to buy the extension cord(the one with multiple sockets) and only 1 of those convertor plug, the one that changes malaysian pin to suit australian.
is that all i need? would i need anything else for my laptop, like a step down transformer or sometin? in case the voltage here and there are different?

ouh, and also, know where i can buy hoodies suitable for aus here? preferably within rm90 tongue.gif

welcome to melb... but it's winter now and it's like a fridge out there sweat.gif

Buy more convertor plugs just in case. Having more than one saves you the trouble esp when you have a lot of appliances brought over from Msia.
Hoodies? Are you a rich kid tongue.gif? For affordable ones just head over to Victoria market... 20-30AUD should suffice. High class ones just go to shopping malls... probably 30-50 or even more.

Enjoy all the msian food before you come dry.gif

Convertor plugs go for about S$4 in Sim Lim Plaza in Singapore, and when I was in KL end of 2007 about RM7 at Low Yat. Went into Big W today, and saw they sell it for A$10.

Yes, by all means, stock up on convertor plugs in Malaysia. You don't have to buy a lot. I find 2 for me is sufficient, after bringing a 7 socket power bank from Malaysia and changing the head, just as you proposed.

As for hoodies, I've been taken as a deliquent wearing them. Maybe its just me through.

Deliquent? Why? The locals do it all the time... so do the international students...

Come on people, go to small electrical shops and get the adaptors. I bought them for RM4.90 each whistling.gif whistling.gif

And yeah, 2 or 3 will be more than enough. I only brought two of them over and one of them is in my kitchen.

I do that (almost) every semester. While I'm not as lucky as you (are you sure its not US$30.30?), generally I have had positive experiences.

Life for professional degree courses like Architecture,Engineering, Medical in Australia is tough!
Unless your parents are millionaires funding your 3-4 years is near impossible.

This is not forgetting their super tough examinations and course works.

Read this news article: http://www.theage.com.au/news/education-ne...0765186626.html

It says foreign students have to survive on beans, weet-bix in plain water, free university bread hand-outs because of the surge in room rentals in Melbourne. Those greedy landlords cram up to 14 people into a single home with each person paying like AUD$150 per week while you only get to earn like AUD$100 per week doing odd jobs.

Quote from the news article above
QUOTE
The number of international PhD students working at the Queen Victoria Market makes it "the most knowledgeable market in Melbourne", quips An Nguyen, a Monash PhD graduate who was fortunate enough to receive relatively well-paying scholarships.

KVReninem, can i ask how to you manage to beat the rising cost there?Seriously, just on rents, AUD$600-800 per month is insane. As I said, only millionaires can do professional degrees there. laugh.gif

i think is still depends on location where u rent house or rooms. I do realize that the fees for most of the uni is increasing yearly & i don know why the currency exchange is still at high rate. :haiz:
