Ya KV, i referred to your useful first post more than once but i'm looking for more detailed information about the benefits based on real experience. Is that most of you choose Commonwealth banks? How about other banks?
*
depends on where you study, commonwealth banks is popular because it has more ATM. It differ by states, so happen in my campus BankSA is near by campus and also easy for me to do my banking. Mind telling us where you're studying so that any LYN members can recommend you a few tips. Cheers.

Benefits, so far okay for me...no bad experience.
which other bank do you prefer...okay. Im in perth now; what i do see here is BankWest is the most ard so other banks which is common. It doesnt matter actually.
they have basic system ruled by RBA on the accounts and how it customise to meet customer needs.

in ther eastern board-CBA dominate most ..for ATM ..tats why i do pointed out in Living in Aus..there is based states to states...but general ..the common is CBA still good for student.

Australia have the 4 major bank- ANZ, NAB, CBA, Westpac+Stgeorge(merging mode), BankWest(perth), and other small banks ..as well.

it depends on yourself actually.tis is financial stuff..so i cant disclose much just to protect myself also. But overall; as long you keep your financial stuff ok, the bank wont come and mess with you.

hope this reply to your question. sweat.gif

Hey guys, where do you guys get the adapter that are used to plug into the socket shown in page 1?

I found the traveling one but I read that the traveling one is not supposed to be used permanently as it might caught fire.

So where do I get the adapter which has a permanent pin that fits into the socket shown in page 1 ?

It shouldn't catch fire under normal circumstances. Don't plug high-wattage equipment into it, i.e. anything that generates lots of heat (heater, hair drier, kettle..).

If you want to rip out your existing plugs and replace them with the aussie one, you can get them from Big W or other hardware shops. Takes just a few minutes to change them.

yea just change the plug, it costs about $1.29 (HFM brand ~ from Bunnings)

I changed the plugs for most of the appliances, they worked fine,

or just buy local plug / adapter cheap from a Flea Market. [cause some of the appliances, only got 2 pin and different head]

ill be going to aus on the 15th flight and everythign else all confirmed edi tongue.gif
going for unimelb 2nd intake, orientation on 21st.... kinda nervous XD

btw, for my laptop, and other electrical items, ive been told to buy the extension cord(the one with multiple sockets) and only 1 of those convertor plug, the one that changes malaysian pin to suit australian.
is that all i need? would i need anything else for my laptop, like a step down transformer or sometin? in case the voltage here and there are different?

ouh, and also, know where i can buy hoodies suitable for aus here? preferably within rm90 tongue.gif
*
well that was what i did initially, getting one converter and an extension cord. electricity supply here is 240V at 50Hz, so no you dont need a step down if you had gotten your lappie in m'sia
