unless one go oversea to buy the instruments, you cannot try the instrument if buying off internet.
and paying the air ticket, i think buying locally is better...
ohhh the net....never buy from net!seriously unless its a cheapo china violin which doesnt make much diff. speaking of my former teacher he brings down a few from his supplier he knew for ages and there are not bad.i brought mine from his student who then upgraded his violin so he sold mine to me:)
btw anyone played i will be here song on violin before? im going to play for next weeks wedding...
hey... congrats for new branch. learning the slur now... but my hands seemed not connected to me brain... kinda bz these few weeks... but trying best to practice every other day... hopefully able to attend lesson this week.

hi guys i've been passionate for violin for many many years since young.but took up saxophone instead and has no regret as well. i love instruments but i've always love violin and piano. however i've been busy with work and my music is kinda rusty.
i'm putting aside the tough of "u're too late to learn" - i'm not that old actually. anyway, could anyone recommend me a good place to learn. or a teacher ?
its never too late to take up the violin better still you had music background.....i started when i was in form 4... u can check the links in previous pages or ask our members around....
thx kimmie for your reply. well i'm 25;) this year... hectic work life makes me so fully occupied and not been practicing my saxophone. anyway, yes i am dedicated - even very picky when buying my violin. i dont have a violin with me now, because I insist to get one in Vienna especially from the maker itself if possible and old one. i don't want to be disappointed to learn from inexperience teacher - i had this experience before.
i'll browse ard the post.. well jsut 16 pages
i welcome anyone here to share with me their learning experience, the place and the teacher.
--- update before i forget... looking for class for myself and for my gf's cousin age approx std 5 student. can anyone pls recommend

I'm a violinist.. I'm also selling violins!.. haha..,Anyway, I'm searching for Violin pickups.. I've often tried several electric violins, but i can't achieve the acoustic sound.. So if anybody knows where to buy VIOLIN PIEZO Pickups, do PM me!!!
Reu-CH...true. Electric Violins sound terrible! Unless you are willing to pay A LOT like vanessa Mae's electric Violin then it's different la.
I've searched for a good violin pickup for many months before I finally bought 2 excellent Piezo pikups for Violin from NZ. Fishman and those found in Malaysia are VERY mahal (more than RM400 and above)....and it doesn not make your violin sound like a violin....but more like scratching sound.
This NZ pickup sounds very natural and is only RM160+ including shipping! It's the best kept secret now.
hmm.. was at the Sunrise Jazz festival last night, and the last violinist seemed to use a wah pedal if i hear right. do violinsts use guitar effect pedals?
Haha.. me also... learning the slur now.. sound very awful still..... at my 3rd month now...
does anyone have any tips while doing the slur, changing from G to B?? I am having headche trying to play the notes cleanly... sigh

There are some violinists in town who dont know how to use guitar effects but still insist on playing with it on stage. Err...guess we better educate them how to use it properly.
