Little ice, true. There are both bright and also mellow sounding violins. I prefer the mellow as its not harsh like bright violins. There are bright violas too! So it doesnt mean that all violas are mellow sounding!

It's better to learn Violin 1st and then move on to viola. I love Viola's rich bassy tone more than violin. Viola deserves more recognition here.

my former music teacher has been promoting to try china violin apprantely its been better now:) its bright as in not much effort to play loud; some can be quite good

rclxm9.gif  Hey everybody!

I'm a newbie! *waves frantically*

But you probably have noticed that already. Meh. Anyways i want to learn how to play violin and is wondering is there any good place to learn near tropicana, PJ? I just moved there so i'm not sure. I know the Yamaha HQ is pretty near my new house but do they offer violin lesson there? Lol. Would yamaha be more expensive than the erm non-yamaha ones? Lol. And oh oh is there any place to learn in One U?

hiya there welcome!!!:D as far as i know there is one in the curve maybe u should try looking around ss2.i could also search around for anyone who teaches there but no promise:)

yamaha most of the time its more expensive la:) but easier as in if ur teacher has moved on they would find a replacement for u:)

according to my buddy who worked in the HQ, the courses there offered are only around RM10~RM20 difference compared to other places. in fact there're centers charging even more expensive than yamaha. and even it's the HQ with better facilities (although not too much better but you know, it's HQ) and a great advantage of a big concert hall.

the point here is, yamaha is more famed for their children courses, which is extremely helpful for kids to develop their music fundamentals. not sure they offer violin individual lessons though, skeat89 you can always ask them and it worth a visit even if you gonna leave with empty hands. smile.gif

People in general dont learn violin from yamaha. yamaha is good for only kids' courses, not for other instruments. So many good music teachers are teaching privately. Why bother with the old recycled yamaha school anymore? :-)

I can recommend you a good teacher...but that depends where you stay. PM me if you keen.

Hi there everyone,

I was wondering if there is any community orchestras in Selangor or even in Malaysia at all.

Have been itching to audition for one for quite some time now. Playing alone is... well... lonely.

I play in an orchestra in Puchong. Want to join? Other than that, you can go for MPO audition.

YES! It is conductor Romualdo Danny Francisco. You want his contact?

What I know is, I went for the audition and they accepted me. They did not ask me anything about my qualification.

Cool! So how do I go about auditioning to join? Where are your rehearsals? I may not be able to join immediately as my finals are around the corner. Soonest would be November.

I'm really excited. Hahaha...

I do not know, maybe you can give him a call or something.

The rehearsals are nearby IOI Mall Puchong. I will tell you where exactly if you want.
