* Classical = Real and proper music education

* Modern = Play-by-ear kind of a thing (music notation and advanced chord system will make them go crazy)

* Music production = The people who works in the recording studio. They are not major in playing music instrument

Take a pick.

No, I am not lecturing anything. I am just saying.

But if anyone finds it offensive or hard to accept the play-by-ear thing, I would not say sorry. You have to accept the fact.

A is A. B is B. If you still not okay with me, go find a music professor and ask them.

what's the big problem of answering my basic question? i'm sure the answer should be way more simple than what you've said. unsure.gif

PS: regarding your comments about the courses and type of musics (and some of your insights about your career), well, i can only say that, you're still young, my friend. wink.gif

Added on April 20, 2008, 1:09 amok this is getting distracting as this is a strings family thread. i'm going to suggest a thread about music education and career, so everybody can ask questions or share opinions.

nothing is impossible.
as long as u practise each instrument with the right amount of time, and dont just play it once-aweek in lesson, then you will be fine.

At the top of the photo above, the top bow. Never insert your thumb into the fork, just put your thumb finger nearby there. That is what I can tell you, the violin book usually has the section to how about how to hold the bow correctly.

Shoulder pain because of gripping the violin. Never grips the violin, just put it in position.

Ah I finally found out how to quote doh.gif
If I just put the violin into position and never grip it, my violin would kinda fall off when I'm shifting positions or doing vibrato rclxub.gif
By the way Cello, are you selling violin mutes in your shop? I'm looking for one laugh.gif

You did not put it to the correct position, find a position that it will locks the violin without gripping. Make sure you are sitting straight.

Yes, I do sell them. Call me before you confirm to get, I need to check for stocks.

From my personal experience, my grades are determined by my teacher sweat.gif
She suka-suka say "okay from next month, you're gonna be grade 4. The monthly fees for grade 4 is.... "
But of course she send me for exams as well for some of the grades she chosen to see if I am par with the current grade standards
I went for ABRSM exams, and will receive an official certificate

I am not really sure myself, but I think its widely recognized.

Almost all of the music centre that I've asked around are using ABRSM exam standards as well.

By the way, ABRSM is not local, its main office is located at London if I'm not mistaken.
Your exams will be graded by examiners coming from London, and theory papers will be sent back to London for gradings, and then they send your cert back to Menteri Pendidikan to be collected
