For me.. i think i wont be willing to pay for these so called "grey" sets if it's a few hundred cheaper... unless there're personal warranty from shops... then i'll be willling.. here you are talking about a thousand bucks... if few hundred still ok ok...

What if you come back malaysia, and it spoils in less than a few month? what are you gonna do with it? Look at it everyday and hope it'll return to it's original condition? haha...

anyway.. it's just my opinion.. no offence. =)
*
no offence taken.. Understand the dilemma.
Like Viking say, just treat it as buying a used unit > 1 year old and out of warranty. So, no difference there.
I see from FTZ, most are selling the 580 EX I version at rm1.1K (barcelona very lucky got such a good deal)

Brand new, % of it getting spoilt will be lesser and even so, I don't believe repair cost > RM400.

Anyone of you has gotten your flashes spoilt before? How much to repair?

All the flash have their own life span depend on ur usage.

Normally is the flash bulb will die 1st.

If u send for repair. Is the flash still like before instant of performance.

I think u better buy a new flash that repair.

Let say u used the flash for 3 year maximum shooting.

It fair to buy new 1 lol.

The flash have pay back to u liao.

Maybe u dun agree lah.

I tell u lah, repair camera thing not so cheap brother.

Maybe will cost u about a third party flash like NIssin (About RM500 below).

I just wondering if anyone has their flashes spoilt within 1 year or slightly more than 1 year and gotten it repair. Of course must have estimate of how much it costs to repair and weight that against getting a new one.

there are some adapter, but auto focus won't work. You will need to manually focus it.

Get 70-200mm f4 first, then only get a Flash  and battery grip.

The pictures snapped 70-200mm f4 L gonna drive you crazy and you'll feel more numb when you spend on flash and a grip later on biggrin.gif

yaya , after L you will never go back

My cousin trade-in his Tamron 17-50mm (for RM900) for the EF 17-40mm L (RM24xx) lens yesterday. Superb L quality.

28-70 is a freakin heavy lens. I tried it and it's not my cuppa. Lotsa ppl complained about the weight but heck, it's an L lens

how about a sample pic from a 17-55?tongue.gif

Oi Oi Oi!!, you guys sweat.gif shopping spree ka? Dah dapat bonus? shocking.gif Dont buy the stuffs other people would buy. Get what you need. Standard zoom lens is the first thing to get to replace your kit lens. Flash, batt grip and tele lens? Do you really need it? Do you shoot in lowlight most of the time? Do you shoot vertically most of the time? Are you compensating for the fact that you dont have to be "there" to shoot?

but the 24-70 is expensive man owO" I would not have that kind of cash to get that lens.

btw, a recent shoot. Rather than venture more into fashion... this is more to conceptual.
