If not mistaken SD cards come in a few flavours and those high capacity ones needs "special" features in the camera to take advantage of it. SDHC (like the 450d)

Anyway... I went Lowyat to get a new CF card. AIming for a 4GB one.. 133x (not 266x as too expensive and not much use for the camera.)

Went up/down/round/round no one selling/got stock for the 4GB Kingston 133x. (RM160), they have 4GB 50x @ RM130 (a bit stupid since price difference so little) and then the 266x is like RM260, RM100 different man!! I don't feel worth it, just like the sandisk Ultra. X. (what for ultra, my money also ulta already man..)

End up, I bought a trancend 4GB (last one on stock) after asking Viking for opinion. (Worry if if there's known issues with this CF brand with the canon. What happen if suddenly DIE? All 4GB mati lah!!)

So.. end up got it for Rm160 and verified working. Have not tested kao-kao.

BTW, for some reason, ppl in Low Yat

1. Don't sell CF
2. Kingston nearly everywhere out of stock!!

I still think they are not worth the extra money anyhow.

Went to my dad's house and he showed me this old canon he dug out of somewhere from a long..long time ago.. (~20+ years I think)
and then My mom brought out the flash, which she thought it was something else.

The Flash still works, but it takes a while to get up to charge and you can hear the distinctive whine as it charges. There's no button anywhere except for an on/off and a flash charging/ready light.

Boy I (we) were all VERY surprised that when I put it on my 400D and starting to take picture, the freaking flash went off!! It really works!

But, since there's no way to move the flash/bounce it, the light is _really_ very bright and at ISO100 indoors, I had to change the shutter to ~1/300+ just so that it won't overexpose (and EV -2)

How's that for compatibility?










Ps : Does this mean I can't get a 530EX II???

Anyway.. Rm450 + battery = good deal, most ppl here got it for Rm470-480 w/o battery. I got it for RM440 w/o battery in S'pore

next month when I come back from US(still unconfirmed going) will get a 580EX II and thinking of buying extra to bring back and sell to you guys. I'll have to see how much $$ I have on hand to pay for it 1st lah..

Shereen: Lambency flash diffuser.flash seems like a good knockoff to get. Shashinki selling for RM89. Ebay.my selling it for Rm119 (crazy ah?) It looks very nice esp the canon pic w/ diffuser on right? How well does it work on reflective surface like on the back LCD of the camera?

Dude all. Is it my holding style or something but after a photo session, the arms very tired lah. (and in pain) due to holding the camera esp on the shoulders. Seems like I'm in tension during the photo session. Is this normal? Perhaps I'm not holding the camera properly?

Actually, now I a bit regret buying the 55-250 IS. Regret not cos it's not a good buy for that money, but regret cos the f number too small. indoor is really sucky and esp at 250mm zoom, want to take nice picture also susah at f5.6 widest.

the f4 70-200 in US selling only USD ~660 IIRC which is NEW one somemore!

BTW, for the flash, what's the different between USA warranty and local warranty? Will the local canon also service it or will have to ship back to US?

Y'day at 1Iutama, I saw fotokem selling the 2.8L for RM6k and the 17-55 f2.8 for RM5.9K Wah Gila man.. Tot it was ~RM 4K for original set.

Anyone want to buy 55-250 f4-5.6 IS ??/????

@viking : Regd the trancend 4Gb 133x CF card I got for Rm160. I tested burst mode Raw+L and I can take up to 11 shots in succession using it. Same speed as I can get using my Kingston 50x CF card. So there you have it.. No speed difference AT ALL using whatever X CF when in the camera. Only makes a difference when you copy it to the Laptop/PC.

That one wait a while loh.. Save a lot man.. 133x 4GB = RM160, 266x 2Gb = RM160

it's a great lens. but not so suitable for indoors and if you don't like to A) Use Flash, B) Have a Flash..

But since I'll be getting a 580EX II soon, should be no problem lah.. But these ppl like Viking/Weileongz/HackFusion all poison us with their 2.8L or 4L..

maybe you can find some side income like viperleon? Go wash cars.. Eh.. wait, you not girl w/ bikini and all (like the movies) so a bit susah for you to charge more money. (Over my place here, got car wash ~RM4), that means you have to wash like 100 cars!!

yikyeo: I looked at your blog and my guess is you're really a small kid, much younger than viperleon/matt and you still have a DSLR to play with. Man.. that is like so cool (of your parents). Or is the camera your parents and you just "inherited" it just like when I was younger and I used my father's minolta SLR.

As you grow older, and when you make your own money, at least for me, I find that I'm not that willing to part with the money which I make. So it took me a real long time to get a DSLR. but I'm liking it, but I hate ppl like viking/HackFusion/Weileongz cos of their "L"ansi lenses.. keke...

yeah.. I just re-state that for ppl in this forum since most of them think it makes a difference (when it doesn't) and they're just wasting good money to get features which they dont necessary need.

That one is RM1.3K man.. (IIRC) but anyway.. get the flash 1st and then we talk.

okay.. my re-con from LYN that day searching for new CF card. I've posted this a few posts back..

4B 133X CF = Rm160 (Trancend) last one from Sri Computer.
NO one else has the 4GB 133x. Also majority never sell CF (some even say have to do special order)

Normal price Kingston, if got stock (I search everywhere literally!!!)

4Gb 133x = Rm149
4Gb 50x = Rm122 (typo previously)
8GB 133x = RM340 (+ or - a few ringgit)
16Gb 133x = Rm662 ( " " )

Kingston brand prices..

4GB 266x = 260
4GB sandisk Ultra II (dunno what speed is ultra II) = RM229 from fotokem/fotoshangrila (see the pinned thread)

Never considered Sandisk ultras cos their prices also ULTRA!!
