18-55mm kit is one that produces soft images, personally i feel that the 18-55mm IS version is not bad. It is used as the 40D kit. Sharp pictures with IS. Recommended by me, what say you guys rebels?

At first i also tot of buying that kit lens with IS, i asked my friend who worked at canon, he said it's just another same kitlens but implemented with IS only. Picture quality wise no difference. So he adviced me to save up and get other more superior lens.

The 450D seems promising for an entry level dSLR which has 12.2 megapixels in it and some additional features :
1. Live view mode, including contrast-detect AF
2. Redesigned menus (including My Menu as seen in 40D)
3. New, larger, higher capacity battery
4. Standard 450D kit will include a redesigned, image stabilized version of Canon's 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens
However, it will be using SD card but luckily it supports SDHC so it wouldn't be that bad but most of the dSLR users are already having CF cards which is a setback.
Yes, it's definitely promising IF u are starting from scratch. Really no point for us who has been using an entry level to upgrade to this 450D unless u are tight on budget and going for the live view it has. =)
