What determines the market price? Say for example in an ideal scenario

All Seller wants to sell at 1.20 . All Buyer wants to buy at 0.80 . Nobody is willing to budge from their price. What/who will determine the price of the share then?

Since there is no match. Then in my opinion, the price should just stick to where it is, since nobody is buying or selling cos no match. Am I right to say that?

Yup.
No match no transaction, so nothing moves.

THanks for your reply!

So in that case, am I right to say that if there is a fall, it's because ppl start selling at a lower and lower price?

Ya, correct.

Price up is because many buyers interest to buy the shares, so the sellers sell at high price and then more high price. Demand > Supply

Price down is because little buyers interest to buy the shares, so the sellers sell at low price and then more low price. Supply > Demand

Just like many people want to buy fish, so fish will be expensive !

Let say buyer want buy at 0.50, but seller want sell at 0.80, then no transaction/trading done. Untill the buyer and seller price are same.

im very confius with how the system macthed the stock for me. for ur information i'm retail account holder im not using margin account.

for example one

ABC share buy at 1000 unit at 5/5/2009 (already pickup) price rm 1.00
ABC share buy at 1000 unit at 7/5/2009 (outstanding) price rm 0.90

when i sell on 10/5/2009 with the system will macthed form me the outstanding share or the stock that have been alredy pickup?

example 2

ABC share buy at 1000 unit at 5/5/2009 price rm1.50 (outstanding)
ABC share buy at 1000 unit at 6/5/2009 price rm1.00 (outstanding)

when i sell 1000 at 7/5/2009 unit ABC share which date it will macth the 5/5/2009 or 6/5/2009.

can i ask my remiser to macthed the buy and sell using manually, because my remiser told me i cannot do that because im not using margin account.

the date u buy doesnt matters, because ur buying the same stock. stock ABC brought on 5/5 is 100% identical with stock ABC u brought on 6/5. there is no way to difference them.

example 2:
ABC share buy at 1000 unit at 5/5/2009 price rm1.50 (outstanding)
ABC share buy at 1000 unit at 6/5/2009 price rm1.00 (outstanding)

summary:
u will have 2000 share of average buy price of 1.25
even if u sell 1000 at 7/5/2009 at example price 1.20 (u still suffer loses without any profit because its RM1.20 is lower than ur average buy price.)

the true story

i buy 1000 unit kencana at 1.70 ( alredy pickup)
buy 1000 unit kencana at 1.75 (outstanding purchase)

the system will macthed with with status? the alredy pickup or the share with outstanding purchase. the true story is i sell my stock 1000 unit at 1.80 and consider it will macthed with stock that alredy pickup but it matched with stock is still outstanding.. is the true way how the system macthed the stock.. clear first the outstanding share first?

Dividends are returns on your investment to the company. Doesn't matter how long you hold the company shares. As long as you are holding on the ex-date of the dividend, you'll get your dividend cheque.

I believe anything outstanding means it is not fully paid/settled/picked-up yet. So it is easier to sell the outstanding shares compared to having to sell your shares which you've picked up. Maybe a remisier can enlighten us if less paperwork is involved in either case.

Surely it will be matched with the outstanding shares, so that you don't need to pay up, convenient on both side.

Whenever you sell a share, the system will automatical find whether you have outstanding purchase to offset it.
