Syrians do eat significantly more, but you should try buying another brand. Even my syrians don't like the overdose of seeds in habitrail. They will eat that the last after everything else is gone.

Try Harry Hamster or Prestige. If you live near Bangsar, Raining Cats and Dogs have both. Pet Safari also has Harry Hamster.

Well I guess what worried me the most was that my hamsters even refused to eat even the kuaci!

I guess I'll get a small pack of a different brand and mix them up with the Habitrail ones. Thanks for the recommendations!

Actually, is the kuaci really needed for hamsters? Is there any nutritional value that hamster can absorb in it?

Kuaci is just full of fat and oils. A bit of kuaci is good, but too much is just bad. It is better to include other type of seeds like flaxseed, pumpkin seeds... that's why Prestige and Harry Hamster are better, the variety of seeds, pellets and grains are much more varied and high in nutrition. If you open a bag of Prestige, the smell of fruits and herbs is just so lovely.

Sunflower seeds contain oils that are beneficial to your hamster. But it's also high in fat and can leech on calcium if given in large quantities. So a little is good.

The point of bringing up the kuaci here essentially is, hamsters love 'em.

Well except my hamsters, it seems. Wave it under their nose also don't want.

All other hamsters that I know of all eat kuaci. Some eat it like there's no tomorrow.

Of course they love it. It's high in fat, and very addictive in taste. Is like a cheese burger or whatever junkfood to humans, it is addictive. So we must control the kuaci intake.

Habitrail staple is very basic, with nothing much but loads of kuaci, wheat, corn and alfalfa pellets..... not a varied diet....

my hamsters dun like kuaci too, well at least for some of them.. it's good tat way but quite surprising..

LOL I wonder anybody here got the supplier contact details of Prestige food, I have gathered around 20 Ipoh friends also busy searching this Prestige Hamster Nature, yet I cant find any shop in Ipoh carrying this, makes us feeling to make a bulk order directly from the supplier, save the hassle!

Hey guys, I have a little situation in my tank... I have 2 robos, Fat Fat and Yuu. They live in the same tank. They've always gotten along fine and like to go explore the tank together. They eat together, run on the wheel together, and groom together. They even groom each other.

I cleaned out the tank last saturday and decided to put some toilet paper in their hamster house since whenever I put 1 piece in just for them to play and rip, they tear it up and take the trouble to drag it into the lil hamster house.

Last Saturday, they both were thrilled to enter the house and find lotsa toilet paper. From Sunday onwards, their whole activity changed. Yuu always sleeps alone now. They don't groom together or each other anymore. He takes his food and eats seperately. She takes her food and go back in the lil house.

Fat Fat just spends most of her time in that lil house. She doesn't even come out when I put food in the tank anymore. She ALWAYS stops whatever she's doing whenever it's feeding time. She's been this way all her life. In fact, it freaks me a lil because I'm afraid she died in the house and I might not know it.

Do you think I should take out all the toilet paper? It's a plastic house so I can't see what's going on in the lil house.

Pretty Pets in Ipoh Garden (it's at the shop lot behind Pizza Hut nearby those specialist) carries Prestige Hamster. Saw it last week only when was in Ipoh with sangels.

Gonna go Pets Wonderland later to see if I can find Prestige or Harry Hamster. Hopefully my hammies take well to whatever new brand I buy for them.

Wow ... finally I can get hold of Prestige Hamster Nature, cost me RM16 from Pretty Pets in Ipoh, emm ... quite a decent hamster food, they are loving it ~~~

RM16? You bought 2 packs ar?

I bought one only, he label RM17.30 on the packaging but when paying, he only ask for RM16 Maybe I've been frequent there for many time till consider give me discount

Sorry. I blur with something else. Actually RM16 is cheap for Prestige. KL selling RM18-19 per pack.

RM17.30 is the old price. Just curious, when is the expiry date? Coz the new price out was last August
