Hi ronasdfghjklzxc

Well, editors always tell us...if we dream to be wealthy, then journalism is the wrong field...but salary wise..based on experience and academic qualifications...

To be honest, journalism might not be career which gives you the best of monetary satisfaction BUT nevertheless....we've got lots of perks that no other careers entitled you for...

We get accessed to places not usually accessible to normal ordinary people...we get to meet individuals of which many just get to see on TV or from newspapers or magazine...we get to talk to film makers, celebrities, ministers and all sorts of people to even the most ordinary people who has got interesting tale to share....

Added on May 28, 2008, 8:06 pmSo, the question is...is monetary rewards still what journalists look for???? Ask any journalist you know...and most will tell you 'WE LOVE OUR JOBS!!'..smile.gif

Added on May 28, 2008, 8:10 pmOh yes, apart from getting the allowance for traveling domestically or overseas for assignments...and most of the time...journalists are treated like VIP....not that we ask for it...BUT we were just 'pampered' that way...

And usually, traveling assignments are fully sponsored..and sponsors are kind enough to put us in luxury hotels...we get to stay and eat at these places in order to do the reviews...and we get the 1st hand to try almost anything to get our story done!! So, what else can we ask for??? smile.gif

to me ~~~ as for salary base ~~ can should be discuzz with the boss ~~

if the boss are well understand the issue of it ~~~~~

but you dun ask for really too much of it ~ coz the boss will look into make sense situation ~~ but of coz u also need to show him that u are willing to work ~~~

and then u willing to make the company have some benefit .... i sure ~ believe that the manager will increase your salary ~~~~~~

because i just discuss with my manager resently ~~ and he mike think about it ~~ as i told him that i would not ask to increase more in 1 time ~~ as the food , petrol now are keep on increasely ~~~ rapidly ....

and i dun mind to stay other 2 more hour for each day ............. and he think for a while and he say ok ~~ he will look into it ~~~~~~~

so ~~ in the end my manager told me that as long you willing to work hard and did brough benefit towards the company , he will increase the pay base on how he look into your situation and attitute during working .

Depends. They may recommend you a promotion or increment. Its still the HR's job to justify the need. If its beyond their needs of fulfilling the request, the manager can't do anything.

I am facing a dilemma now and just wanna get your opinions.

I am a Mechanical Engineering student and I got no experience and I recently got a internship offer from a company.

however, the salary is only RM300 and the company is situated in Penang. I will have finished 2 years of degree by the time I start working.

Should I go for it?
