Alright, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask...I want to ask if anyone here knows the usual salary for freshly grad architects in Hong Kong? Heard it's around HKD24k (RM10k)...is that true?

Monthly earnings...yearly is too little dy.

So I guess it's still ok to be asking that much huh? Some friends insist on HKD30k, but I'm not so sure as a fresh grad, I should be demanding that much although I had 9 months training and 2 years freelance.

ya,it is true,this is because of the living cost there higher.
actually normally fresh grad market price in HK is around RM10k-15k.
this is because,my friend who is original HK resident,she work at HK LV shop,she got 9k as promotor.

But the competition in HK is extremely tight.

@kamekaze
Like Sitting Duck said, RM 4k for just 1.5 years is a good pay. Mostly people will get around 2.7k-3k max.

not a big deal over there since the living cost is very high. Japan is worse, engineers easily earn RM30-40k a month. But since the living cost is so high, it's not much really.

Fresh engineer in HK is around 12k, 1-3 exp can get about 18k at most. For the same money, you can get 4 senior enginners at China. Architect can get higher in HK, but for freshies to get over 20k, not easy but possible.

Through the interview, the lady said fresh grads in HK ask for HKD35k a month, that's why they prefer Malaysians. Will be offered HKD30k if they pick me...hmmm...just have to wait and see. Living costs there is roughly 3 times Kuala Lumpur's.

At least this sounds more like a fresh grad pay unlike some unbelievable people who work for 1-2 years can get Rm5K. Like this everyone in Malaysia no need to complain about food/tool increase la.

For someone to be earning 5k and above, he/she will probably need to be working for 5-6 years at least.

Don't think most employers are so inclined to give big salaries to the workers.

Sure, there maybe the old 5%-10% who are really good at what they do/found a niche/plain lucky so make it, but whats the odds of that happening to most us in LYN?

This thread seems to attract junior people only. I hope there will be more senior staff who have more than 5 or even 10 years of working experience give us the information on how much they earn now. This will help a lot of people to set realistic target for their expected salary in the future.
