Baseball bat sometimes has other usage rather than hitting the baseball u know?

Which doc u go to?
Shouldnt they try to findout the reason besides just give u sleeping pills?

U know those pills are addictive? the more u use them the less it works...

O.o....If doctor don't recommend maybe because there'll be more side effects of the stronger sleeping pills wor....
Maybe u can try other way first before u go to all the medications since there're always side effects

Diazepam is a sedative drug...it doesn't really a strong sleeping pill but makes one dizzy n calm n then Zzzzz

The better one is called Zolpidem...i am not sure about the brand name, i think is "StillNox"--- The Real Sleeping Pill haha..but don't misuse it too much brother.

some people will just have sleeping difficulty. it biological and physiological. medication is the only way to induce a good sleep.

to ts,

another good sleeping medication is zopiclone. but no insomnia medication is for long term use because the side effect is just tremendous, how it change the body physiological is too much against its beneficial usage, and also dependence issue, esp if you are young patient.

there a lot more stronger drugs than diazepam, e.g temazepam but i guess the doctor weight out more risk than benefit for you, hence not recommending/prescribing it to you.

diazepam induce sleepiness but they wont guarantee patient going into deep sleep, just like you, awaken after two hours or so. that is even worse, as you can't get back to sleep and feel extremely tired on the morning.

and with hypnotic drug, because it work on brain/neurotransmitters, you will get nasty side effects like depression, lack of muscle control, nightmares, dizziness, fatigue, etc etc. so be aware of those side effects, and try not to depends too much on these sleeping drugs.

for long term, try to figure out what is the underlying problems rather than resorting in quite fix, drugs. is it stress, lack of exercise, or lifestyle issue, environment issue etc etc. for the sake of your own health, fix those underlying problem. if it is stress, get some de-stressing method (yoga etc), work stress (take leave, take a break), do more extreme exercise as it helps to wear out your body and de-stress.

Added on November 14, 2007, 7:30 ammean time when you are off from these diazepam or zolpidem, but do need something, get those over counter sleeping pill e.g. Kalm night, Nytol Night (not sure if they are available in malaysia though), or even 21st century sleeping herbal supplement. some of them have active ingredient, pseudoephedrine, which improve breathing so you can have better sleep, and induce drowsiness, so you can start to sleep.

it might not be as strong, useful or direct action as diazepam, but it doesn't harm body much and great for psychological effect.

You can get a prescription but chances are the prices are about the same. You can ask your doc how much he charges per pill/tablet and compare with what they charge in the pharmacy.

It was a broad statement, but let's nitpick.

Sure they will, doctors don't always have all their medicines in stock. For example, antibiotics, you can't(or shouldn't be able to IIRC?) buy them over the counter in a pharmacy, yet pharmacies stock them. Ever wonder why they stock medicines/drugs that you can't buy without a writen prescription?

Price comparison, why can't you ask how much your medicine costs? You're paying for it >.> Don't tell me you blindly pay for your med's when you go to a doctor...

yeah.. of course if good to survey the price than kena chop by doctor.
Im not sure whether pharmacy selling sleeping pills or stocking it. But i believe, doctor wont simply sell it and even wrote a letter for you to buy at pharmacy.

for your example, antibiotic, you'll usually get it after you sick and check with doctor, but the point is not every docotr will give you sleeping pills if u just tell him you can't sleep at night.

Elses, the pills is everywhere at clinic, they wont start a thread asking where can get those pills right??
If anyone can get the price or can buy from any pharmacy, let me know. let's compare the price here.

The point was if you DID get a prescription from your doctor you'd be able to buy the pills you were prescribed for in any pharmacy stocking the pills. Whether or not your doctor is willing to write your prescription is subjective, if he does not stock(or have in stock) the pills which he believes would best suit your needs and your best interest, he'd write you a prescription so you'd be able to obtain the pills you require or refer you somewhere else.

Whether or not the pharmacies stocks the pills are irrelevant and my post didn't say pharmacies would, though I do think they do. Price comparison, if they stock sleeping pills, they'll tell you the price.

Just to share my insomnia experience with u. Hope can be of help to you.
I used to suffered from insomnia for many many years ago and now I m 90% recovered.
In the past, I have tried many types of medicine such as Valium, Xanax, Dormicum, cough syrup etc etc you name it....... the drugs helps of course but I paid a very heavy price. I'm now become very forgetful and sometimes I can't even spell out a simple word. My Doctor already warned me of memory loss side effects if taking too much of sleeping pills. In fact in the past, I m quite disciplined ( See, i just had problem to spell out "discipline") when taking sleeping pills as i usually consumed 1/8 of a dormicum pill and i m only took it when it was absolutely necessary. But still I m now having mild memory loss problem.

Since last 2 years, I slowly adjust my body biorhythm clock to sleep before 12am ( initially with the help of cough syrup) and I have to keep to it because if i breach it for just one night, my body sleeping timing will be disturb and i will have sleepless night for the next few days before it goes back to normal again. Therefore, you must first set you body clock to a fix sleeping timing and keep to it as best as you can.

Another drug free way to easily get to sleep is to listen to the talks by Ajahn Brahm. Let me guide you how to do it.
1) Goto http://www.bswa.org/
2) Download the talks in MP3 files to your pc (Free download).
3) Transfer the MP3 files from your pc to your mobile phone/mp3 player.
4) Get to your bed 30min early before sleep. Plug in the ear phone, adjust the volume to the lowest and listen to a human voice talking to you till you fall to sleep.

These are many topics of talks such as Happiness is mental energy, The power of mindfulness, Patient, Argument, Hopelessness, who's right ?, learn meditation and many more. This method help me to get to sleep very easily and now my insomnia is 90% cured and most importantly, i don't depend on drugs anymore to help me get to sleep.

Last but not least, stay away from sleeping pills and give my methods a try and hope you can get over it.

When i compare to doc valium and imovane which is stronger ... he just tell me it depend on body , but different chemical only.

Right now i eat 2 valium also cant really help me sleep...

Anyone know those strong wild sleeping pill ? maybe i should take 1 and try ...
i need those pill very affective , 1 tablet can sleep 8~10 hours without interuption.

I guess you still insist on taking sleeping pill, do u?
OK, If u want to take the risk of memory loss side effect, Go get dormicum. You will sure like it. I once took only 1/4 tablet, within 10 min total black out already.
I must warn u that u must not abuse sleeping pills. Because, your body will slowly immune to the drug and you will need to increase the doses. The more pills u take the more difficult your body is going to sleep naturally without drug and when this happen, it will be what we call addiction. Prolong usage of sleeping pills will damage your memory brain cells and the side effect can only be felt over some time.

BTW Valium is not sleeping pill. It is a tranquilizer. Too much of Valium also no good to your brain cells. T

not all doc will keep Psychotropic drug in the clinic (not all at least ),especially now DCA is very strict on the control of the movement and usage by the doctor , so long doc agree tht the patient has got insomia or for jet lag purpose , doc will (of course, not all doc) prescript sleeping pills for patients to buy from pharmacy , only for 1-3days of dosage (1-3tablets). there is nothing much for u to compare price here coz u r not taking it for long term ( for normal person).

not all doc will keep Psychotropic drug in the clinic (not all at least ),especially now DCA is very strict on the control of the movement and usage by the doctor , so long doc agree tht the patient has got insomia or for jet lag purpose , doc will (of course, not all doc) prescript sleeping pills for patients to buy from pharmacy , only for 1-3days of dosage (1-3tablets). there is nothing much for u to compare price here coz u r not taking it for long term ( for normal person).
dormicum is currently under strict control by DCA , u hav to try ur luck.... selayang used to hav doc Buy alot of dormicum...
how r u now ? laugh.gif

Cheaper if you don't go in to see the doc ( minus the consultation fee ) , but nowadays it's harder to find these clinics that sell these type of drugs over the counter.

Dormicum is kinda in the govt's bad books now cause some idiot found out u can melt the thing and inject it ...

Stronger yes ..but this dormicum is a fav for the drug addicts who can't get their fix - take some 4-8 at a go, to sleep off their withdrawal. THEN came the reports that, u can melt it down and inject it for a cheap substitute high .... all this was in the malay mail "expose" a year back?

You go into a clinic asking for dormicum by name, be prepared for the looks the doc will be giving you brows.gif

overdose can cause adverse event (coma etc).

not at over dosage actually. a normal dose will do. not that it will make them horny etc, but some sleeping drugs are hypnotic drug, hence is abused esp. with alcohol to make woman sleepy, sleep and cant remember what happened before.

You took the whole 15mg dormicum tablet and you said "so so only" shocking.gif shocking.gif ?

I would say it is either your body is starting to immune to sleeping pill and you require more doses or you use dormicum for other purpose ?

if u really wanna sleep nicely u can take Erimin 5mg but that is illiger
or u can find the doctor asking for valium 10mg this one is ok not touching the rules

if u take domicium u will forget alot of thing that u did last night that is really very strong but short acting pill

notice dont take too offen if not u will face to withdrawal symptoms one u quite

for domicium u can take half pill over 15mg might be better

any way do not mix with alcohol or any beer with this pill or else i will going to kill youself in the future

i can get Dormicum/Erimin/Valium/somese easier,i just sugguest u take it for sleep but not for other purpose

also do not over doze,if u got withdrawal symptoms also no problem i got way to help u

the benzo's i.e valium (all the *zepams) ideally you shouldnt take more than 2-4 weeks. and ideally you shoulnt withdraw quickly. the dose should go down wards slowly or you'll get a rebound effect and have anxiety. it will also loose its effect overtime.
need i not to mention they are addictive if not used properly.

like younkies mentioned the 'Z' drugs, zolpidem, zopicone are particularly bad on side effects. your best bet would be try to slowly acclimatise your sleeping pattern and try find out the cause/reasons of your anxiety like are you subconsciously worrying about something?
something that has been bothering you that has not resolved?
excessive work stress?
have you had any traumatic event in the past?
had any panic attacks?
irritable?
poor concentration?
any specific phobias identified?
do you have other co-morbidity? (like suffering from another chronic disease?)
bad sleeping posture?
bad sleeping hygine?(i.e. having a coffee dinner time? or coke? or drinks wif caffiene?)
another thing that i can say about beverages is dont drink(alcohol) before sleeping. it affects your sleep.
some people will argue that its a depressant, but your body attempts to compensates for that initially and you might feel drowsy initially but when the alcohol wears off it'll have a rebound effect. people who are having trouble sleeping are more prone to this effect.
a glass of milk b4 sleeping might probably help as well?

you might want to consult a specialist on this matter as i dont think the general GP's have the specialisation required for you since you've tried practically all the mainstream meds already

Dear Thread Starter,

Don't go rely on sleeping pills to knock yourself to dreamland. It's not healthy in the long run. Are you having insomnia or some sort of sleep disorder?

Maybe your life pace is a little too fast tracked? Why not drink some fruit juice?

Your anxiety may be the cause of your sleepless nights.
Try to do something relaxing before bedtime to take your mind off your problem.

Resorting to sleeping pills is the last thing you want to consider.
Tendency is that you will need stronger dose each time as your body gets adjusted to the drug.
there are side effects to sleeping pills and you will experience withdrawal symptoms if you try to get off them.

You can also try taking calcium magnesium tablets 1 hour before going to sleep.
The calcium will help the brain to relax and enable you to have a deep relaxing sleep.

Perhaps you can try count sheep/recall back anything that u want to recall until you start feel sleepy and automatic shift into sleep mode tongue.gif it works for me . If you still insist to take supplement , you can try Melatonin. There are several supplement seller in this forum that you can contact to ask them where to get this product brows.gif

i strongly recomend the others here, not to go on those stronger meds like diazepam etc...

start with something light, eg piriton...this you can get without prescription, it's weak but works good enough on many people.

besides, you can try to improve your sleeping environment...or move to another house...

Should try natural stuff like fruits rich in melatonin instead of those over the counter drugs.

Fruits that has dark skin like billberry, black cherry, blackcurrant, etc

Not promoting GNC but I know they have something you may want to have a look at

http://www.gnclivewell.com.my/product_info...products_id/455

I had the same problems as you have, sleep and sometimes wake up in the middle of the night. When i started taking Monavie juice, sleep like a baby nowadays. and BTW keeping your room clean from dust will also help.

hi all ...

im having problem in sleeping for the past few months ...

went to clinic, given valium(diazepam) and last week given imovane ... but it doesnt really affect on me. Im only able to sleep 2~3 hrs only.I told the doctor if got any stronger pills, but they say dont recomend to give me ....
Any one else got 'lubang' can get affective or strong sleeping pills ?

i need good pills that can make me sleep whole nite at least 7~8 hours ... without any interuption .....
*
Hi Hybrified. My friend is also taking sleeping pills everyday else he couldn't sleep. I introduced him to take some herbal beverage. 2nd day of taking herbal beverage, he told me he can sleep without the need of taking sleeping pill.
I have another friend, she has been insomnia for 20years and early this year she told me her issue insomnia is gone.

I have a question for you. Do you know by taking sleeping pills in long term will be bad to your body, your nerves, your kidney and body cells and your immune system will be weak. If i can help you to sleep the number hours that you need without taking sleeping pills, will you be interested to know further?

propofol.... if u take enough of it, you'll get to meet michael jackson.
if that stil not enough to get u to sleep, try to sleep in your car with the engine on and a hose connecting the exhaust pipe into cabin.

I'm really surprised you're getting some actual advice in this thread TS... really. Malaysians have a thing about never ever taking pills no matter what because they're "not natural", but here you're really getting some advice. There's still 1 or 2 that chime in with the "pills are bad" routine, but over all this thread is pretty good.

There are some over-the-counter things that are real effective that you can ask for.

Polaramine = ask for it at your pharmacy. Around RM2 per slip. Take 1 for a very light effect, 2 for an average effect. Do not take more than 2.

Atarax = someone mentioned this already. Cost 10 ringgit I think? Takes a while to start working... need to take it 1 or 2 hours before you sleep. And yes it does keep working after you wake up, which sucks.

Promethazine = Now this... THIS... is the best OTC medicine there is in Malaysia! Pronounced "Pro - Meth - Uh - Zeen". Only a few pharmacies carry the pill version... there's one pharmacy in Hatas Square right beside Ampang Hospital that you should definitely check out if you want this. The pharmacist there is a friend of mine, and she keeps this one in stock. Only a few other pharmacies carry this, and it's always in liquid form, which for some reason is just less effective for me. The Hatas Square pharmacy has the pills.

GABA = Gama Amino Butyric Acid... while you cant find this one in Malaysia, it is something you can order from the internet. It's safe to take 1 of these along with one of the other 3 listed here to make those more effective. No drug interactions, no side effects. GABA is made by your body already, so this counts as a "natural substance" no matter what anybody tells you.

Hope that helps.

i think u need amitrityline kind of anti-depressant instead of sleeping pill, look like its not ur body whos refuse to sleep, its ur mind, maybe u need psycological help instead

u insist u need strong sleeping pill but refuse to listen to all those good advise such as relaxing techniques, in that case nobody can help u, eventually u will become addicted, or u already are

for normal person 2 tab of promethazine can keep you in bed till the next afternoon, it isnt that hard to find, or any other sedating antihistamine (drowsy flu medicine) would do. dont pick those with pseudoephedrine, vasoconstriction effect will make u excited thurs cant sleep

Everyone please dont take any sleeping pills. It will hurt you back just the matter of time. If you can't sleep try to masturbate before you sleep. You will feel tired and ready to sleep calmly. Try it, it's work.

There are always someone who will have trouble to go to sleep. Some of these people will need medication to help them to go to sleep. But any good doctor will tell you that medication is just a quick fix but not a solution to your insomnia problems. Like everyone else said before already, these medication are addictive and you will developed tolerance toward these medication after long term used.

You have to find the causes why you are not sleeping well. Try to reduce stress. Eat more balance meal. Exercise! Avoid coffee or any caffeinated drink.

If that still doesn't help, well....good luck.

Ever since i took Kyani Sunrise, i have been sleeping like a baby.

It's 100% fruit juice, non-chemical and much cheaper (less than RM200 for 1-mth consumption) than many products i came across in the market.

I was given the samples when i shared with my fren about my knee pain and sleeping problem. Believe it or not, both healed. Amzingly, it also healed my hubby's stiffed neck that he had to live with for many many yrs.

More testimonials can be found:

http://testimonials.kyani.net/2009/12/welc...ct-results.html

www.kyani88.com

www.hykyani.com

You can also goggle and read the reviews of the products and benefits from independent parties.

(Sorry, i don't have sites on Bahasa/Tamil)

Bear in mind that long-term on drugs may do more harm that good.

Thx - ManLin

I don't think any pharmaceutical sleeping pill is sold OTC. You'll need a prescription. Just depends on whether the particular doctor dispenses Dormicum or not.

IMHO, never try sleeping pill before you employ other healthy methods. Do some research, find the root to the problem. Does any particular food that causes insomnia? Stress? Caffien? The most basic will be having a great workout. I find change of lifestyle, for the betterment of course, always contribute to a better sleeping pattern. If that doesn't help, probably you wanna find out more about Melatonin. Cheers!!!

For those who is trying to find the answer still for sleeping pills.
I suggest you try Zimovane (Zopiclone) 7.5 mg, it will definitely give relax to you and I personally recommend you to try this pill. I bought them online from www.generic-meds-store.com because it's cheaper and more convenient to me. I have found that my sleeping has improved by following the treatment with these pills. Being on these pills I have found within an hour I get a good 8hours sleep.
Good luck to everyone.

This is a bit messed up... people selling and buying drugs of dependence... pretty sure that is illegal or at the very least dangerous and highly unethical.

Pls dun buy those meds above from unknown source and without a prescription. Those meds fall under the category of Dangerous Drug Acts and obtaining them through unlicensed channel is illegal.

U nid counseling therapy. Meantime, u can try Cinnarizine (a flu/cold medicine), buy it from pharmacy, it does not need Dr's prescription. Cinnarizine can cause quite profound drowziness.

.
Try GP dr clinic. An understanding GP dr may prescribe sleeping pills long term. Other doctors may not give but instead will direct you to government psychiatric hospital for specialist treatment.

Try private psychiatrist clinic. Can usually get sleeping pills long term but expensive. >RM100 for 2-weeks supply.

Try alcohol, which is a sedative for sleep. Take at least 2 glass of wine or 2 shots/small glass of whiskey/brandy/liquor or 3 pints of beer at nite before sleep.

Try etc.
