Roughly one more month to go before the 8x points promo ends.

Does anyone realise... even if MBB gives us 2X points or even 8X points, they are indirectly raising the number of points of the products that to be redeemed.

For example, last time to redeem a RM100 Jusco voucher needs 16700TP, right now it's 21000TP.

Anyone realise...?

This has happened not only to MBB Amex, but also to other banks (visa and master). I used to redeem hypermarket vouchers. Last time, an RM50 voucher required 10,000 points, but it has been increased to >12,000 points now. I notice that CIMB still maintain the old points requirement for redemption of RM50 voucher, if I'm not mistaken.

Many have mention before in this thread and Credit Card thread. For Jusco RM50 or RM100 voucher, you can still redeem at 16,700 points at 1U (New Wing) MBB Centre.

I'm thinking to redeem all my points also.

Lifetime Fee Waiver, great !!!

# 5x Membership Rewards points for every Ringgit spent on groceries, petrol, bookstores - Kinokuniya, Borders, Times and MPH - and telco charges via Express Autopay - Celcom, Digi, Maxis and Telekom.
# 2x Membership Rewards points for all spend elsewhere.

Even better then the gold charge card (Compare with normal period, not now x8 promotion period) drool.gif

By the way, the new AMEX gold credit card is even better then the Petronas card, which it can save more point at other petrol station, not only limited to petronas station. Both also provided lifetime annual fee waiver. rclxms.gif

This new gold AMEX credit card is not issued by Maybank? From the attached picture, it doesn't carry the Maybank logo nor the blue AMEX emblem.

What's the difference compared to Maybank AMEX conventional gold credit card? This new gold AMEX credit card won't be earning TP from MBB; only MR from AMEX?

Yes, they're.

One from Maybank and carrying Maybank name. You'll earn only TP.

The other from AMEX but issued by Maybank. You'll earn MR.

This makes the newer Amex gold credit card from AMEX is more attractive!

Your charge card could earn 8x MR till mid-July provided you have registered for it.

After that you could switch to this new gold credit card to earn 5x MR since it's a permanent feature.

As for me, I don't think that I'm going to apply for it since I got Ikhwan AMEX and the points that I'm collecting is TP and not MR; makes no difference to me.

I browsed through the application form just now and it's so simple with just one page.

Last time when I applied for Ikhwan AMEX, the application form takes up to 3 to 4 pages!

Which points are more attractive? TP or MR?
Am thinking of applying an Amex during the treats fair next month.
