Which is why one should have at least one Mastercard and one VISA with them all the time. Bringing a few hundred of Ringgit with them is good too.

Just a few weeks ago when shopping at Speedy i was told that the AMEX terminal is offline and they asked for either Mastercard or VISA. I handed them my only Mastercard (i do not have VISA or a second Mastercard) and was told their machine failed to detect the credit card. OH MY DEAR LORD !!! Then i told them to hold the DVD for me and i'll go to the nearest ATM to withdraw some cash first    MALU BETUL. There wasn't a girl with me at the time though

I truly agree with U.  Charge or CC makes no difference to me because I pay my bill in full at the end of the month.  I mentioned "downgrade" because I'm currently holding the Amex Plat and I do not wish to pay the AF for this year.  Also, the Amex Plat doesn't give you 5x points for groceries + petrol as does the Amex Gold.

Earlier, I was considering the Amex Gold Charge card but now I think the Amex Gold Credit card is a better bet

The Amex Gold Credit Card is Free For Life and seems to have more benefits tagged to it than the Amex Gold Charge Card.

Yes that's right. I saw my MR from my AMEX Gold Credit Card in my M2U today...transaction was yesterday. Damm fast lah they credit the MR. The MR was combined with my treats points from my other MBB credit cards to give one total. Since they combine MR and TP why the need to differentiate?

Has anyone got the balance of 6x extra Amex points for 15 April - 15 July 2009 credited to the account?

Did anyone of u receive the 8x point for your AMEX credit/ charge card in the promotion previously?
They promise after 2-3 weeks will put the remaining 6x point to our account
