first thing is to pick the right puppy.
FInd the right breeder..not the "Oh I have 2 goldens..lets let them breed!" kinda backyard breeder.
Important because this breed have a lot of Hip problems...the price u pay for a cheap pup..might cost a lot in the long term in the form of vet bills

Look at the parents..the puppies temperament depend alot on the parents..and don't buy a puppy where the breeder wants you to take it at 6 weeks..the extra time spent with the dam teaches the puppy bite inhibition among other stuff

Another thing Goldens...Dig...alot...
So prepare for holes in your garden =P

This is something new to me.
I wonder how the dam could teach the puppy the biting habit.
IMO, with or without dam, GR puppies like to bite and they like to eat and swallow ALL THINGs. That's the nature of GR. laugh.gif

3 years ago, I let my puppies stay with the dam until they were 8 weeks old.
Do you know what happened? These puppies bit the mom's tits until the fresh torn.
The wound was so deep and it took almost 2 months for full recovery.

GR puppies at the age of 6 weeks old have very sharp teeth.
It is not advisable to let the puppies stay with the dam when they have sharp teeth.
The mischievous GR puppies always like to bite their mom's tits. doh.gif

Aleune are they with cert, microchipped and perhaps expected price?

No, I didn't apply the pedigree to MKA. It doesn't worth the effort & cost.
Please PM me for the price if you are interested in getting one.

Well..u learn something new every day =)..its not only the dam but the interaction with their littermates . Thats why most responsible breeders never let their puppies go to their homes before 8 weeks old.

Its nearly the same as most dogs, shampoo, food, cages, grooming kits, supplements and etc

Since its a large size dog and its a gundog, it needs plenty of exercise or at least a bigger space to run about else expect havoc
GRs are pretty much human oriented dogs, they need people around them, they need plenty of toys to chew on.
Go onto the internet and search for GR and read about their temperament.

Health wise GRs are prone to HD so please be aware that HD is mostly passed on through genetics, so choosing the right breeder helps.
Aleune is having some for sale, those are nice GRs perhaps arrange a time and date with him to assessed the puppies yourself.

It can be

1) Dudley nose / Liver nose (genetic)
QUOTE
The term “Dudley Nose” can refer to a yellow Labrador with chocolate pigmentation. A Lab with absolutely no pigmentation on the nose or eye rims, where all areas are pink in color, is very rare and most likely a genetic quirk.

To tell the difference between a simply faded nose and a “Dudley” check the eye rims and gum tissue color. A Dudley will have only light pink or tan skin while the other dogs will have black pigment in these areas. In some dogs this permanent lack of pigment in nose and eye rims is a disqualification for the show ring, while winter nose is not. The pink nose has also been nicknamed a "Liver Nose" in some breeds, and is acceptable in some liver-colored breeds but not in others.
or

2) Winter nose
QUOTE
it affects many breeds, including Labradors, some northern breeds and even smaller dogs like terriers. A normally black nose will fade during the colder, shorter daylight hours of winter. The dark pigment will return when the days are longer and the weather warms up. Dogs are known to repeat this process year after year.

There is no definitive answer for why this happens, but several observations have been made and a few theories bandied about. One notable observation is that this condition happens to dogs in warmer climates, so the cold temperature most likely isn’t as big a factor in triggering it. Perhaps the length of daylight associated with colder weather plays a part.

Bring it out for more sunlight! tongue.gif.
Shushu experienced winter nose when he was down with pneumonia last time. Probably because of the cold and being coped up in the house.
However, his nose colour is returned to shiny black now! smile.gif

Indeed, the puppies can learn from the interaction with their littermates (play and bite each other) and through obedience training.

Look at below link again, hungry puppies tend to behave.
http://www.pets.ca/pettips/tips-44.htm

For my case, the puppies are fed every 6 hours. 4 times a day.
They have never left hungry.
Besides, the mom has rather low milk supply to feed all 10 puppies.

Lol
ok..

if you say that you are hand feeding the puppy away from the dam which is why the puppies doesnt learn..doesn't it proves my point exactly that you need to keep the puppies with the dam for them to learn bite inhibition early in their life??
You can still feed them extra if they are not adequately fed ....

Anyway just want to say thats how the dam teaches the puppies the bite inhibition since you were wondering earlier on

you will need to teach them to drink their mother's milk on the first two days until they managed to learn it.
