Yeah for Unifi it is looking more and more like they are testing in stages before rolling out to everyone. Last time they did short tests late at night and right now they are doing random regions as samples.

Because they didn't just target the naked DNS like Maxis and TIME, but also want to block DoT and DoH, there is slightly more upkeep for them. So they are probably checking to see how effective it is and maybe expose how people choose to bypass it.

Since attempts to hijack DNS are occurring (I have just suffered from it this early morning), causing problems in resolving DNS queries properly, I suggest setting the DNS-to-TLS profile to opportunistic mode for the time being to avoid Internet connection issues.

This old trick is what they are blocking now. Even naked Google and 1.1.1.1 also cannot already.

That mode only allows the router to resolve DNS queries so that the DNS can be resolved if its authentication fails. Usually, I set it to Strict mode to always authenticate.

TM Unifi is implementing transparent DNS proxy in stages.

You may not be affected now but eventually will.

Yup. True about that.
TM Unifi has more things to setup in order bypass compared to Maxis & Time. In my experience, Time & Maxis has better response time with CF DNS while Time Unifi seems to favor Google DNS. Of course I do have other DNS as backup.

See how this 3 Big ISP gonna roll out in the near future. We do whatever we can do to protect our best interest.

I've seen people mentioning NextDNS and saw some radical solutions involving pihole, but haven't seen anyone mentioning about Technitium DNS and their DNS forwarding.

Assuming we use DoH / DoT protocol for the DNS forwarding, it should work as intended right (i.e. bypass the DNS Hijack/poisoning)?

For me no block at all, still can surf some gov blocked site and some poxx site.

No use any vpn. Just cloudflare dns only.
