I'm not receiving both email & app notifications for Card Payments since few weeks ago while it worked fine prior. No setting changed since.

Able to receive all other notifications, including cashback for card usage. Both app and email.

Any collective solution here?
I just reinstalled the app, currently stuck in cooling-off purgatory.

Speaking to CS was no help absolutely, which I'm surprised that CS quality fell so far from the tree in just a matter of months.
As my niece used to say... "Vomit thunder" trying to explain to CS..

Android.

What I don't understand is, how does an error with the app, if any, affects the email notification. Unless maybe, it's the app that sends the email when notification received? No idea.

Lost my GXCard when using it abroad in Manchester... straight freeze in app and got a new card sent to my address back home and card arrived after just 3 days and no fee for replacement too.

So far so good!

that's really good to hear and makes sense to get a new number at least since the old one likely compromised.

Just curious benefits of using it abroad is? After considered the FCY, FX rate and 1% rebate, still better compare to others like Youtrip, Amaze (SG) or Revolut?

I dont own the options you mentioned, so i cant help there, sorry.
I did a comparison between GXCard and SC Jumpstart, which are the cards/options i had on the day i landed. Bought same item at same time and paid with both.

GXCard came out was just a fraction higher SC Jumpstart... but then once factor in the CB, i decided to keep using GXCard.

Unfortunately lost it halfway thru my trip, so reverted to SC Jumpstart for the rest of my trip.

I honestly wish either could be added to SamsungPay.. then i probably wouldnt have lost my GXCard. I suspect i lost it after using Metrolink in Manchester tapping in and out at stations.

Last I check youtrip, revolut not available for Malaysians yet. Also if you use instaram, the company behind amaze, you will know that they are expensive. Use to be cheap. Not anymore.

Thanks for the update....

Going to London in few weeks time...

So glad to know can use GX card there.... Thinking how to pay for the expenses there... Normally I just use cash previously... But seems like London not like old days anymore.... Risky nowadays... More like "foreign lands"... I mean not white man land anymore.... If you look around 😊 like in Paris...

Don't know. I use instarem to send money to SG last time when it's cheap until it's not. Look at the final SGD you get if you use Instagram service Vs their competitors like wise, Sunway money and money match.

Hi Sifus,

1, Does the debit card deduct the money out from the savings account only or does it also deduct the money from saving pockets if the saving account does not have sufficient balance?

2. I have always been educated never to use debit card for any online or over the counter payment. The reason is that debit card deducts money directly from savings account. Once the debit card info is leaked and used for fraud transactions, the money deducted from saving accounts would be really hard to get back. Debit card should only be used for ATM withdrawal only, that's the advice given by my banker friend (my friend is a old school banker). Credit Card on the other hand, the money is charged but you can still dispute the transaction but no money is deducted from your account directly. Has debit card security been so good now that this concern is no longer valid?

Thank you.
I had numerous time had fraud transaction on my credit card and my CC was blocked immediately by the bank. One time I noticed fraud transaction charged to my credit card (received SMS) that I called the bank and got the card block immediately. No payment was needed for that fraud transaction.

You can disable overseas transactions.
You can disable online transactions.
You can set online transaction limit to RM1000.
You can freeze the debit card.

actually even if you just use for ATM withdrawal, you should always assume your info has been already leaked (by someone inside GX Bank)

what you can do is
  • set Debit Card to only physical transactions, as most fraud is online trx
  • don't apply/cancel any GX Debit Card

1. it will decline. I've tested before. insufficient main account balance when online and atm withdrawal. So I love the saving pocket. it is feel more safer
2. old thinking
3. just put rm 200 into main account for usage. if fraud lost max rm 200.
if too worry,
- set no online transaction
-freeze card. only unfreeze when want to use. freeze back after use

So even u go sleep, freeze card option - no one can steal your money

5% p.a. promo is for each SAVING POCKET only, and 5% p.a. only granted up to RM5k per saving pocket.

1 GX account can create 10 saving pockets.

in theory, RM5k per saving pocket x total 10 saving pockets are eligible for 5% p.a.

The funds in your Savings Pockets can be transferred to and from your Main Account, but cannot be used for payments or fund transfers to or from other accounts.

GXbank Main Account can transfer max RM50,000 per day. you can change your transfer limit on the GXBank app.
