Gotten three logo zyxel nr5103e. Initially if didnt lock band straight connect 4g only. Granted, i am testing it in a very crowded residential. Seriously townhouse and condo in one area? Brilliant developer.
After locking to b28 and all 5g band, get constant 5g connection, at least for now.
Speed wise, bench against UTHM batu pahat getting ~ 320 mbps dl, and 8, yes, 8 mbps upload. I even getting 0.9 for upload, siao
Using fast.com, getting ard 270mbps, and 12mbps upload.
Dont have the time to stress test and gaming test, perhaps tomolo.
Dashboard show full bar lte, 2 bar 5g.
The firmware is b12, and true to what ispreview mentioned, without a three sim card this unit wont be getting firmware update.
*
UTHM parit Raja speedtest server or network is slow. Use another one.
Which telco is that ?
Most telco always goes to KL except YES

That's quite a decent speed for that signal.

I wish TP-Link will let us to boost the fan speed as I find the default fan curve is too conservative.

When the device is just powered on, the fan will run at max RPM for a few seconds before the silent fan profile kicks in.

Anyways, may I know what's the speed you got on your 5G phone? For my case, the Deco X50-5G performs better than my iPhone 12 Pro.

I suppose newer phones with better Qualcomm 5G modem should perform better.

PSA: The Deco X50-5G comes with Snapdragon X62. I have a short review here if anyone is interested.
*
On my iPhone 12 (not pro), I got around 450 Mbps during 5G full bars. But in my apartment, only 4G (not even 4G+).
Definitely the x50 5G has better reception since it can do 5G 3 bars comparing to my phone at same location.

Ya, the fan profile is very quiet and the router itself does not get hot either. Maximum I can say is like little warm after whole day usage.

Got photo shown all the ports it’s has ? What type of charger given in the box or they follow google, Apple and samsung, did not provide charger ?

It is a full fledge router with 5G capability, the power adaptor is 12V 2A round shape plug. Port wise, it was 2.5Gbps WAN port for typical PPPoE. Another two 1 Gbps LAN ports. It has 2 Reverse Polarity SMA Female socket for better 4G/5G reception, antennas are not included though. It does not have battery built-in. Not 5G Mifi modem.

Nope, it will always be routed through Deco.

However, it can function as a Unifi router and use 5G as backup.

Actually it can be configured as AP router mode to let main router to do all the NAT, DHCP, routing and etc.
In fact the TP Link support page for this router has shown the options in youtube video.

For this video, it is using Starlink router as example. We can do the same for Unifi/Time/Maxis/Digi and etc router.

96mbps is lowest out of like 10 tests.
Try a week see how while survey a cpe.
So far either that 3 logo cpe or tp link x50 5g.

Hi, have you tested with gigabit type c adapter?
Any significant speed improvement?

how much u got it? rm770 from sing4g?

according to ispreview forum, b12 firmware is rock solid, don't think u will need an update.
*
From sing4g yes, but 702 include shipping, they did flash sale for two days at midnight in shopee
Ya b12 is good firmware but mana tau later b16/18/20 lagi best lol
Best solution is if it allow to flash zyxel firmware

Btw since we are nsa, we must lock both 4g b28 and n77/78 to get 5g right? Without locking also b28 wont connect?

nice price thumbsup.gif

dont fix if it's ain't broken...lol

yes, must have b28 for nsa network. many ppl bought china ap set phone without b28 can't connect to our 5G

so just tick 4G b28 and 5G n78 will do.

Hi, is there any seller in PJ/KL with physical store? I want to purchase EE 5G router and get it on the same day but andrewstore is currently out of stock.

My budget is only RM700 so it's either 3 or EE for me.

Ohh i thought they have the same hardware? I'm referring to this model which shares the same design.

What's the drawback in getting EE if it has a different firmware?
Hope you can enlighten me on this.

Thank you.

Anyone had both NR5103E and MC801A, and tested the reception signal quality and speed, which perform better at same spot?

ispreview forum got ppl feedback…some of them tested both because their telco allows them do so, some said zyxel better some said zte better…can get either 1.

MC801A got 2 version but duno what difference.

MC801A and MC801A1

for non tech savvy ppl, i think tplink x50 5g will be more suitable.

On the contrary, I was in andrewstore last week to test the EE unit (their last stock). They demoed how to force enable/lock 5G network.

Also I noticed that the box and packaging of "3" isn't real?
I'm asking this because I've seen various online sellers selling the same model with different packaging/box.

Unlike EE which is shipped with the original EE yellow box and all the accesories that came with it.

Any test result for 700 MHz?
Just wonder, because in China, they mostly using this as base for kampung, will be interesting to see how many total bandwidth is this frequency in Malaysia.

If it works well, then it might be a better thing than band 5 UniFi 4G. wink.gif

700mhz means LTE b28 here, belum ada 5G n28

currently without congestion, can hit 30-50mbps typically for 4G.

I set up and tested three branded zyxel nr5103e and zte mc888, whcih is using sd x62. Diff location and set up tho, therefore i cannot compare the performance.
Have mc888 for two weeks, 24/7 and connected to at least 17 decyices during working time, but, it is hook up to a x50-4g and deco m4 as mesh node, only using zte mc888 for wan, no wifi obviously. I use javascript to force dns, which does not have it in zte dashboard. Zte ui is not the best, quite chunky and inaccessible once during two weeks, whcih require a hard restart. But, connection wise, the best. Really stable.
Zyxel i set up as a single router, so far two days also no isuue, and connection also stable. Firmware is very responsive, and can set dns, which is awesome. But it does not subject ro heavy abuse as my office set up yet.
Since x50-5g is available, even i have bad experience with tplink firmware support, i have to say it is hard to suggest zte mc888 over tplink. Tplink UI is good, and can remote monitor the router. I would suggest based on budget, either three branded zyxel or x50-5g. If u want mesh, zyxel would be chesper to set up with more choice since x50-5g is expensive. But if u already have tplink router, x50-5g should be good upgrade, and can recycle old router as mesh node.

did u change host name of your devices under connected devices?
i have mf286d with same GUI, the GUI will crash after more than 10 devices connected (if change the host name of the devices under connected devices, no change name no crash)

It is "EE" logo. I've seen both.
I could not remember the firmware but the staff in andrewstore showed me how to lock the network (saw him selected "5G" only).

EE - andrewstore and all other sellers have the same packaging: a big yellow box with all the leaflets (even includes the EE card with the admin username and password). The packaging is clean and you know is "new" based on what you get.

3 - online sellers have different box/printed on it. There is no manual or some sort included. Even the plug is different. I've seen UK, EU or China plug. This shouldn't be the case because "3' is a UK-only telco network.

Side note: U Mobile Paradigm Mall PJ is also selling the same "3" 5G router and the box is also different (the box is light blue in color).

So my question is.. are "3" 5G routers "new" or considered refurbished/returned products from customers?
