i just swapped my ZTE with another new set.

first thing to do - is to disable auto update.

Used it to watch plex and disney hotstar no problem so far..

How is everything so far?

so far so good - no restart / disconnect ....

but speed minimal 150mb .... zyxel can go 500mb plus ..

thank you. if you don't mind me asking, at this particular point of time, only TP- Link x50 could support setting up mesh right? what about Zyxel NR5103E/5G EE modem?

to my knowledge, yes. only x50 5g can double as mesh.
otherwise, you can always plug in lan from 5g modem to mesh lan port known as Access Point mode.

Performance Comparison Between Snapdragon X62 vs Mediatek T750 vs Huawei Balong 5000 Chipsets



Mediatek T750 turned out to be superior compared to the other 2 with lower latency, higher average download speeds and better price to performance ratio.

Snapdragon X62 which is even newer than the regular X55 in most 5G modems out there on sale.

Huawei Balong 5000 chipset based modem has upload issues with DNB Ericsson network. It can't even reach 10Mbps on all the tests.

Hi sifus. Super lurker here.
So after researching around for weeks, I'm kinda leaning for the Zyxel NR5103e at this point of time (at least for the sub RM 1000 price range).

Feel free to inform if you encountered any of these/solved the issues/have daily annoyance with any of the routers mentioned.

My concerns here are mostly on day to day stability since that's a common factor that anyone can relate with while speed is practically YMMV.

I remember seeing a post where the modem may switch to 4G haphazardly. Since it has no band locking, this may be a major issue.

I'm still researching more on the Zyxel NR5103e but so far, it seems like it has the least red flags (and risks) out of the choices being thrown in the forum.

Since the nearest 5G tower is 4km so my checklist is
- detachable antenna. Buy sma male female LMR300 something. Then connect detacable antenna
- Antenna port. low loss cable and good 5G antenna not cheap
- full 5G SA NSA band n1 3 7 20 28 40 so DNB-2 ready
- Lock band or disable unwanted 4G band
- Support, price. imei ttl .

NR5103 - EE UK only 2x2 MIMO AX1800

NR5103E - 3 UK Unit with E as in Enhanced 4x4 MIMO AX3600 with 2X 2.5Gbps ports

NR5103v2 - 3 UK Unit with slim down cost reduction model still same Mediatek T750 chipset as NR5103E but only has 2 antenna ports and only GE 1Gbps ports??

Heard that Zyxel uses a customized version of the OpenWRT firmware for its Router OS? Meaning its already running on OpenWRT but hardened secured version.

Many of the units on sale now are the NR5103 with EE logo on them. Cannot band lock and only have AX1800

When those sellers found out the real value of the 3 UK version they immediately de-listed them from being sold.

me using 3 UK NR5103E .... better than the ZTE MC888S for sure ... i have both and Zyxel is stable and faster speeds.

Tplink NX510v user here, never faced auto reboot b4 but every 2 months or so connection would drop, easy fix is just to reboot the router modem. I am using a cheapo router cooler fan tho, that could have help with reboot issue mebe coz without it, i do find the temp at the front of the modem quite hot.

now i have to set at 4G. no dc so far but line slow 30-70mbps.

the system some how will auto update - there was some disconnect yesterday and connect back.

finally system updated the same firmware - but after updating firmware it is somehow faster speed recorded.

start to think it is the modem ZTE model - nothing to do with firmware maybe.

will monitor longer.

What modem you are using now? Previously the M888S can reach 2XX Mbps, then somehow even after bandlock, lately it only achieved 5 ~ 20Mbps. Tried restart, etc still not solving. Guess the modem/antenna is not good enough for 3 - 4 bars 5G.

after the replacement same ZTE MC888S and updated firmware.

now i am getting about 4 bars at 275MB speed.

however same location using the Zyxel NR5103E i can get about 500MB - 600MB on a good day.l

tower is about 100-200m from location.

IP14PM can get sometimes 800Mb like that.

I think I will submit a report for MCMC already, cause previously on a good day with 888S I can get 2XX Mbps, lately its just wood speed.
