Depending on what you want.

RE004 is a entry level UHP tire. Definitely gives more grip in the dry.

VP4 is a touring tire. Should give you more comfort & mileage.

downgrade grip a lot.

I'll take the VP4 if these are the prices.
Downgrade in terms of performance. Upgrade in terms of comfort.

I'm looking for better comfort, ree004 is a bit stiff and harsh on rides. Not sure whether it's because I'm using 215/45/17 now since the shop don't have 215/50/17. I don't really hit corners as hard as I used to and driving wise has mellowed a lot maybe due to age and. Last time my experience on VP3 is quite good interm of grip. So VP4 should be better right

Thank you.

MC6 is more of a touring tyre, although marketed as UHP.

RE004 is more performance-oriented. Sacrifices comfort for more grip.

Both are good tyres. 1 is a slightly extreme performance tyre while the other is more of an all-rounder.
*
I am going with MC6 in the end after going through OPs blog. It seems like MC6 is better “balanced” for a lack of better word.

currently using Michelin XM2+ 185 / 55 / 16 and I need to change them soon.

is the Hankook VP4 205 / 50 / 16 a good choice or is it a downgrade ?

running them on a Honda City GM2.

thanks.

Should be an upgrade. VP4 should be in the same category as Primacy

that was what I was worried about ...

195 is the ideal choice for many Honda City GM2 users but sadly the VP4 doesnt come in 195 / 50 / 16 ...

switching back to stock size of 185 / 55 / 16 is an option as that is the OEM size and the VP4 does come in that size ...

Need to ask other GM2 owners that have used 205/50R16 size.

I'm using the same size for Persona 2017. It does hit the wheel arc during nasty bumps.

Planning to switch to 195/50R16 after this set.

Do you know increasing size can effect a lot of factors from fuel consumption, speedometer accuracy, VSC/ABS efficiency, ride handling and also increase weight (Unspring Mass)

Read this if you did not knew about it.

Engineer spend so much time & test to get the best tire size for your ride. What makes you think any tire size also can use?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to change all 4 tyres for my 2021 Honda City.

Can I get some recommendation on the following tyres? Which should I get? I got a budget of RM1,200.

1) Continental UC7
2) Goodyear Assurance MaxGuard
3) Michelin Energy XM2+

I have tested UC7 (check out link below) it's good if you looking for noise as your main priorities. XM2+ is from the comfort segment which is strong in wet braking. No clue about assurance maxguard though

I would also add that Goodyear tires with a sound comfort label (sound comfort technology) - 50% less noise inside your car.

Currently using potenza ree004, planning to go for hankook VP4 will it be an upgrade or a downgrade?

size is 215/50/17

Re004 is good for dry grip while sacrifice on comfort, higher noise and moderate wet grip.

VP4 is more balance. Good dry and wet grip, moderate comfort, lower noise, longer mileage.

Potenza is UHP and RE004 is entry level.

Ventus is UHP and VP4 is medium level. Hankook entry level UHP is Ventus V2 concept 2 but no longer selling in Malaysia but still available in some other country like US.

2014 Perodua Viva 850EX Manual, Presently using 165 / 55 R14, Hankook Tyres

Issues,

1. Rear Right Tyre scraps car body, when driving with rear passengers when driving over a hump /

2. Car looks slightly tilted to the right, when parked, unladen

Requirements,
To solve points 1. & 2. Above

Is it possible, to increase Ground Clearance , say by 2-3cm, but without affecting e car’s stability at ~125 kph ?
Are there any suspension-specialist workshops in Johor that You can recommend ?

Thanks

Thanks for Posting,
However, are there any After Market Shock Absorbers - that are adjustable and are better (in terms of comfort, ground clearance,..) than the stock Perodua Shocks ?

First of all, can give us to know how is your & passenger body weight? Not to discriminate, are you a bigger size person? or always fetch heavy stuff?

If yes, there are aftermarket heavy duty springs or buffer rubber tied in between springs (which i don't recommend) to support heavier load.

BTW majority of adjustable absorbers are not for comfort but more into performance (handling), if you want comfort get normal absorbers and maybe upgrade the springs into heavy duty type.

Besides that, better go to mechanic shop to check. Sometime spoil absorber mountings also can be the reason.
